    Wow that perfect smoke circle at 1:30!

    The 15N20 strips between the twists were an absolutely brilliant (and beautiful) touch. Really made the most of the serpentine pattern!

    Props to you for staying positive after all the setbacks.
    Edit: now that I've seen it, I love the pattern you came up with. Might be something to further develop.

  • @matthewb3113

    700/1000 inch = approx 18mm
    3/4 inch = approx 19mm
    and 5/8 inch = approx 16mm.
    Whole numbers are the worst to figure out. 😂 Love the pattern you are making.

    WOW, it has been a journey watching you over the years grow to being such a very skilled & knowledgeable craftsman maker.. You are beyond a knife maker.. You can do machining, designing, repairing old tools & a good teacher to boot and barely in your 20's.. WOW. Your future will be amazing.. By what I see you are not far from being a master.. My skills are with wood, I am a retired Master Carpenter of over 50 years.. Thank you so much for sharing.. GOD has truly blessed you my friend...

      Never be afraid to leap out of the way when dropping red hot steel! Adding voice to it, whatever sort, just means others in the vicinity have more of a chance to vacate the danger zone as well.

    I assume you're joking Will, but there are 25.4mm in an inch. The metric system makes way more sense than our English/Imperial system. I'm an engineering student and I have to convert between systems all the time. The English system can't die fast enough. I am American and I hate our measurement system.

    • @billlane7486
      @billlane7486 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Multiples of 10 are so much easier to work with than the 12s of imperial. That said I'm of an age where I use metric for very small and imperial for larger stuff!

    • @Tinmouser
      @Tinmouser 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I wonder how much "fun" the Imperial system would be if it didn't have fractions but decimals. Imagine trying to adjust something 0.0394 of an inch... or around 1 mm.

    • @martindohn2738
      @martindohn2738 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      As a fellow engineer I couldn’t agree more. In the field of mechanical engineering we convert all the time, it would be much easier and more accurate to just use the SI system!

    • @TeknoMage13
      @TeknoMage13 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Tinmouser In a precision situation, we do use decimal inches. I've made parts with 5 ten thousandths of an inch total tolerance. 0.0005 in. we also use micro inches to measure surface finish. 0.000032 is common. common fractions get their decimal equivalents memorized.

    I love that you showed the ones that didn’t work out first, so often we’re presented with perfection right off the bat and then set unrealistic and unreasonable expectations for ourselves and others. Seeing you put in all that hard work and then saying “you know, it’s not working, let’s start over,” is such an important lesson!

    Beautiful final result on your Damascus pattern. Also wanted to say I appreciate you sharing your entire process and not just the final result. It's an vital part of any creative process to try new things, learn from the failures and incorporate them into your next iteration of design. Great to see someone pulling back the curtain a bit and it makes seeing the final outcome all the more satisfying.
