Thomas I want to encourage you that IF you are born again, whether you are active in your relationship or not you still belong to Him. This letter to Laodicea is a warning from Jesus because they are apostate, they reject Christ but appear religious . Many use the word lukewarm in reference to Christians , but in reality the righteousness of Christ dwells in the born again believer. In this passage it says Jesus stands AT the door, he is outside , waiting to be asked in, or in other words he waiting for these people to repent..THis passage has nothing to do with born again Christians. We are no longer blind, spiritually poor or wretched.
So yes I would encourage you to work on your relationship with Jesus, but He will never reject or condemn you...John 6:37-40
May I suggest you practice detachment by realizing that having things doesn't define you, and that Christ dwells within.

Bingo! Hieropolis (which was nearby) had the soothing, hot mineral water and Colossae (also nearby) had the cool, refreshing mountain spring water. Laodicea was rich, but had neither. The Christians there lived a prosperous, yet empty life.

Powerful! Sounds like the church these days! We must choose ye this day whom we will serve!
Serve is an action word. Most of us have been nothing but bench warmers awaiting our weekly infusion (sermon). Per EGW, our churches should not have set pastors. They should be busy doing evangelism and the elders in the church should deal with the weekly divine services and/or local community work. Every member should be performing outreach/missionary work of some type every Sabbath, as well as Bible studies with those that request them.

Its amazing that the model church God called the POOREST and most WRETCHED is in our generation regarded as richest. If we love truth we must take the word for what it says. If he says you are poor and wretched then we must be humble to accept it and pursue true riches as he advised or be disappointed in the kingdom of God where we have no value earned though we boasted to be rich and had need of nothing.
As much as I know Adventists apply the Laodecian letter to themselves in the sense that we say "why aren't we doing more evangelism?". I think it has a broader application to the prosperity gospel. that to me is it's fullest meaning.

Laodicea - the secret is Friendship (be it cold and harsh with truth or passionate with the will to help and sustain - or other : hot and cold can mean many things!).
Instead Black: people get together with KNOWLEDGE with the purpose of satisfying a return - once they obtain: plesures and satysfactions are quick to vanish and the person stays miserable.
Self interest in contrast with real friendship and social sustenance.

The Holy spirit talked about these kind of churches which is not just Laodicea, but Pergamon, Thyatira, Sardis, and others have a different Gospel.
"I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting him who called you in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel-not that there is another one, but there are some who trouble you and want to distort the gospel of Christ.But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed.As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed.For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ." - Galatians 1:6-10
Even Angels can leave their assignment and join Satan by preaching another Gospel. This happened when Lucifer aka Satan turned from God the Father. Till this day, angelic beings can give another gospel if you meet them. You must be scriptural.
Apostle Paul talked about how Apostles will judge angels one day.

Just because you were once following God and recieve gifts doesn't mean you are a believer. Even Angels like Lucifer became the Devil himself and rebelled against God. Just because someone tried Christianity doesn't mean they are Christian. Even angels can lie and join Lucifer.
According to the Scriptures, if you encounter an angel, you must encounter the Lord of Hosts (Jesus). Angels might lie to you as well. You must be ready to have scriptural encounters even with Angelic beings. There are fallen angels as well and fallen churches too!

Paul encountered many false brothers too who betrayed the Faith like 5 churches in the book of revelation.

Great analogy. The Laodicea Church is the final church before the second coming, it perfectly describes the church today. I may add, play close attention to Rev. 3:19. "Therefore be Zealous and repent." I suggest you study what being Zealous actually means and just who were the Zealots in Christ's time.

The one of Smyrna regarded as poor and often in tribulations FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS SAKE,God commends are truly rich( for of such is the kingdom of God), then we prefer to be made poor and wretched. God desires great riches and glory for his children in due season, but not through vain pursuit or labouring to be rich( of such there is no end to their toil). God's children are called kings and priests and do not increase by labouring to be rich,for such toil the Gentiles pursue or the Laodicean church. Many pride themselves in giving largest offerings in the synagogue,but Jesus saw the highest giver or donor in the widow's mite,hence shall be richer than other high donors in the kingdom of God. Religion and religious people create their own measurement contrary to God's way yet expect to be accepted by God in their endless labour and heavy laden. We only get things right using God's measuring reed or standard. Baal and his followers are cursed with everlasting toil to increase,but not God's children. Those who trust daily ,abiding in him are satisfied and he blesses the works of their hands. We must seek true riches of the kingdom which God only access us when we have first sought and entered his kingdom and his pattern of righteous, then we receive all other things. Just like worshippers of Baal before Elijah,they love to toil all night and afflict themselves as a way of pleasing God,and want it so for everyone. The pattern of the true God is different. And if we must see him we must follower his Way and Truth that leads to life. What shall it profit it a man to labour and heap up and leave it behind? For such is the portion God has given to the wicked. Hence, the wise sell all they have to purchase a field in the kingdom of God.
If we want to be with Jesus in eternity, we must disassociate from a company of POOR and WRETCHED group that are not rich unto God.
Is God going to ignore those who have suffered and laboured secretly with him to crown those who lived and built for themselves? They already enjoyed their portion in the current world of mortality and sought not the kingdom. Know those who are truly poor and wretched and have no company with them if you seek eternal life,although they have chance to repent like the unwise virgins to go look for those that sell oil and buy gold tried in fire so they can be truly rich and cease from boasting in vanities that hold no currency to purchase even a bosom in the Kingdom let alone a field. When Paul saw this truth ,he emptied himself of all he had and counted as dung to pursue excellency of Christ and was satisfied with clothing and raiment and daily bread. God deals with men in their secret places like he dealt with David before showcasing them. He alone knows the journey they have been through together. Its an insult to teach God Almighty what appeals to him or those he chooses to honour,especially when others choose vain pursuit and glory contrary to laid down rules.
Walk with God is not magic. If you spent 20-50 years pursing the wrong way or path,go back to join queue to start all over again until we attain the prize. Or better still accept the lowest position due to the works unburnt in our years of labour. The scripture is very clear. We can't blame God for often reading it upside down.
And let us flee from religious people that try to take us off the kingdom path by heaping rules themselves can't even keep nor have proof of righteousness of God as fruits for exercising in it. Simply work with God and do what he says and not by many sacrifices in rebellion and disobedience like Pharisees building for themselves yet waiting for applause from God.
Fathers of faith are those who hold the truth of God from beginning to the end of salvation. Not those who fell on the way and refused to return. " The hoary hair is a crown of glory if found in way of righteousness ". So no crown if righteousness is lost. Except they are resurrected back to life. The Pharisees claimed Abraham ( father of faith is their father) Jesus rebuked them that they are of their father the devil. That if Abraham is their father, it will be revealed by their faith like their father Abraham. We must guard your soul jealously ,else IFA Pharisees is your father,you end up in same ditch they are headed as blind that lead the blind all fall into same ditch.
God didn't say we must be flawless but PERFECT( admitting we need help), because he knows we can't attain flawlessness except we receive spirit of perfection. But must admit we need that help. Only Jesus receive the spirit without measure( limit), so he doesn't expect us to know everything but seek to be perfected in the measure of the spirit given to each one .
Flee from POOR and WRETCHED church to avoid contamination. They only think of mortal life. Happy is the man that finds wisdom and understanding ,not money. Blessings.

In Ancient times hot water was for bathing and healing, while cold water was for drinking. So when Jesus said they were Lukewarm, he meant they were not hot enough to heal people spiritually, nor cold enough to be refreshing.

Is it only me who grasp the true meaning of 7 letters and get it revealed to me? 7 messengers of 7 churches in Asia Minor also corresponds to 7 Body parts of Christ in which He is the Head. What do you think of the Key verses I used? Are we really in the apocalyptic time that it was only revealed now.

7 ANGELS' (MUST BE) DESCRIPTIONS
1) Ephesus (Worker) = Don't push themselves to be like a Leader (who knows everything about word of God, a great conqueror in disputes or debates), Jesus wanted them to be like a Worker loving each and everyone not only their neighbors but most importantly their enemies (Wisdom is useless without pure love [any spiritual gifts from God]. Evil also loves his evil neighbors, so why only love your neighbors? What is your difference from the devil himself) .
2) Smyrna (Martyr) = Don't push themselves to be like a Life Preserver (loves life and fears death), Jesus wanted them to be like a Martyr gaining eternal life through their faith even it leads them to their own death.
3) Pergamon (Refugee) = Don't push themselves to be like a Spy, Jesus wanted them to be like a Refugee escaping from the prince of the world where satan dwells and his throne is (Jesus is our Great Refuge).
4) Thyathira (Sibling/child) = Don't push themselves to be like a Servant (anymore), Jesus wanted them to be like a Sibling (His) or Child (Father's) inheriting the rights of a legitemate child (don't serve God through works of hands, idols, Jesus engraved images from woods and stones, etc).
5) Sardys (Innocent) = Don't push themselves to be like a Liar or Deceiver (of Truth), Jesus wanted them to be like an Innocent confessing only the Truth about Name (Identity) [Their true name through Jesus' 'True' Name]

Hot (true worship) and cold (outright paganism) mixed equals most of christianity. Christmas, Easter (Ishtar), etc etc. Paul said those who believe and follow Yeshua are grafted into the commonwealth of Israel. What holy days do they celebrate? Hint...they're listed in the Torah (Genesis through Deuteronomy).
Easter and the holidays they follow are still done in remembrance of God. I believe in their sincerity if you celebrate Easter and Christmas but remember the Lord Jesus and his sacrifice you are better than the "jews" who celebrate the 7 holidays of the lord but forget to even remember Christ or acknowledge he is the messiah and savior of humanity.
If you read what Jesus is saying about the Lukewarm, it’s clear he’s describing those who are rich, in need of nothing and who are NOT BELIEVERS, THEY ARE UNSAVED!!
“I counsel thee to BUY OF ME gold tried in the fire, that thou MAY BE RICH; and WHITE RAIMENT, that thou MAYBE clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou MAY SEE. Christ is knocking on the door of these rich mens hearts, he is basically begging them to receive him.
These rich, in need of nothing “lukewarm” are no different than the rich in this verse......
“It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a RICH MAN to enter into the kingdom of God.”

It’s PRIDE that keeps man from fully coming to believing on Christ.
It’s the very reason God hates pride!

A heart full of the things of this world and full of pride will have a difficult time coming to Christ.
I see no difference. The modern church has mixed with the things of this world. It is supposed to be clear separation of iron and clay but it has become mixed.
Lukewarm is neither cold like a non-believer, or hot like a believer who is baptized with the Holy Ghost and with fire (Luke 3:16); through sanctification of the Spirit (1Pet 1:2) and tried with fire (1Pet 1:7).
Be zealous and repent. (Rev 3:19)

The proper interpretation of Laodicea is that it means the Peoples opinions....this is a big problem today where Churches are not following Gods instruction.Churches too take scripture out of context.
Always wonder why some many leaders use Rev 3:20 as an "introduction to sinners." The letter was to the church of Laodicea. Never did Jesus address the nonbelievers but those who became satisifed and never fully chose their master. Jesus spewed them out of their mouth thus, they were no longer part of the Body of Christ. They didn't even KNOW He was gone - just like many modern churches today.
His commandment was to repent but one cannot find the answer that they did repent. And if memory serves me correctly, Laodicea was struck with another earthquake not long after this was addressed.
I have yet to see leaders or Christians admit they are Laodicean. We are too proud or arrogant to admit that we want riches and God, ignoring the condemnation that faces many today as it did to the Laodicean church. We vacillate so much between the world and Christianity, it has become a normality in our walk. We go through the motions, not even realizing that He has left our fellowship.
We need to repent for who we are, not for what we've done.

Makes no sense where wearing a certain color determines a person’s destiny. People wear a certain color that looks best due to their hair or skin color. The churches are
Ephesians 1st century Christians who were committed to faith but divided by many doctrines of the time
2 Smyrna 2nd to 3rd century church persecuted by Roman Empire
3 Pergamos 4th to 5th Catholic church which compromised with Roman paganism (teachings of Nicolaitans= Roman occult and teachings of Balasm = doctrine of compromise)
4 Thyatira is 5th to 17th Catholic church ruled by papacy who also works as state leader, (State Church union = Teachings of Jezebel since just like Jezebel caused idolatry in Israel, State Church union lead to idolatry) Jesus addresses this church that there are those who have nit known the deep things of Satan, these are obviously occultic teachings of Catholic church

@@uvynelantiquina8198 Wow, really? With all respect and love, please research your faith and the history of it. I grew up catholic and was shocked to find out how many lies I've been told. Jesus' mother did not stay a virgin (Jesus had younger siblings, Mark 6:3), and as she said herself, Jesus was her Savior, so like all humans, she was a sinner too. Also, she's dead. Worshiping dead people is silly (absent from the body is present with the Lord, 2 Corinthians 5:8) and God forbade necromancy (Leviticus 19:31) and worshiping anyone but the Designer, Creator and King of the universe is against the 1st of the 10 commandments. Against the 2nd commandment too if we actually pray to a statue or image. The RC church is the one with half truths and odious lies. Man has ZERO authority to change God's word, priest, bishop, pope, no one. They changed the 10 commandments (look it up!), they use a "bible" that includes uninspired works (when they use a bible at all), and they say there's a place called purgatory so they can make money. If there's a purgatory, what was the point of Jesus dying on the cross for our sins? His work was perfect and complete, that's why He said "It is finished" before He gave up His Spirit. Nothing else is needed. He is our only intercessor. Again, with love and respect, please look into this. It's important. There are 66 inspired books that make up the Holy Bible. That's it. It was inspirationally compiled by the early Church. Man is fallible so we are not able to change; add or subtract to, God's Word. Fyi, Jesus forbade denominations, so I do not have a "religion", I have a personal relationship with the Lord through Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit inside of me. You can have this too.
