M4 Max 128GB will become the go to for any LLM fine-tuning work. I hoped that Apple would give 256GB option. Even if it was over 10,000 dollars, it would have saved tens of thousands.
the only good reason to get M4Max is people that want to refine models on their laptop. It won't be as fast as H100, but it also doesn't cost 20K. A single RTX 4090 is still 2000.00 for 24G. To match M4Max 128G you'd spend a lot more to match the memory. Quantizing the model is fine for runtime inference, but not for training.
Apple’s chip situation is convoluted and confusing now more than ever. Why not: A18: iPhone 16, 16 Plus (and new base iPad and rumored iPhone SE) A18 Pro: iPhone 16 Pro, Pro Max and iPad mini M4: iPad Air, Macbook Air, iMac, Mac mini M4 Pro: iPad Pro, Macbook Pro, iMac, Mac mini M4 Max: Macbook Pro, Mac studio (and a new iMac Pro and Mac Pro) M4 Ultra: Mac studio, iMac Pro, Mac Pro
They got rid of 96gb ram option. Was prepared to pay for that model of mbp cause I need more than 64gb, but not quite 128gb, but now have to shell out 600 more bucks for 128gb. Background, my windows machine with sample libraries takes 48 gigs of ram, but I plan to expand which means more ram is needed and logic needs much more ram than reaper so that’s at least 64 right there. Switching from windows to Mac for common tasks and music production while switching from windows to arch+cinnamon desktop for gaming mostly. Recall feature is the way a lifetime windows user (dabbling in mid 2000s and 2010s iMacs in academia) switches to Mac. I just want something that works dang it. You can’t even get 64 gb in a mbp without the m4 max.
Really tempted to upgrade from my M2 Pro 16" But I feel ill wait for the redesign which hopefully comes with the M5 Chips, plus my M2 Pro doesn't feel at all sluggish still feels as fast as new. put in my preorder for the 14” m4 pro, been waiting for this since they put the m4 in the ipad
I'll upgrade if the M4s can do one thing - realtime playback without stuttering of a FCP timeline of mixed 4k/6k h.265 HEVC footage - 9 streams with no hiccups. :-) I may be waiting for the M4 Mac Studio. If even that can pull it off.
I ordered M4 Pro one 😊
They should’ve put 4 thunderbolt 5 ports!!
MacBook Pro [M4 Pro] is the one!
Thank you, I am waiting for the M4 Max video before I buy it 😄
M4 Max 128GB will become the go to for any LLM fine-tuning work. I hoped that Apple would give 256GB option. Even if it was over 10,000 dollars, it would have saved tens of thousands.
There´s always good Macbook videos on this channel , please compare it on benchmark M4 vs M4 Pro.
The airs looking good right now! I wish my MBPM3 had those nits though !
the only good reason to get M4Max is people that want to refine models on their laptop. It won't be as fast as H100, but it also doesn't cost 20K. A single RTX 4090 is still 2000.00 for 24G. To match M4Max 128G you'd spend a lot more to match the memory. Quantizing the model is fine for runtime inference, but not for training.
I'm waiting for next helloween M5 😊
I get Mid-2012 MacBook Pro vibes when they introduced USB-3 and could be upgraded to the high res anti glare display.
So many upgrades and so small publicity, marketing team at apple did a bad job this year
Apple’s chip situation is convoluted and confusing now more than ever.
Why not:
A18: iPhone 16, 16 Plus (and new base iPad and rumored iPhone SE)
A18 Pro: iPhone 16 Pro, Pro Max and iPad mini
M4: iPad Air, Macbook Air, iMac, Mac mini
M4 Pro: iPad Pro, Macbook Pro, iMac, Mac mini
M4 Max: Macbook Pro, Mac studio (and a new iMac Pro and Mac Pro)
M4 Ultra: Mac studio, iMac Pro, Mac Pro
No upgrade for me until Apple gives wifi7!!! Pathetic
Just noticed your thumbnail. Totally on point regarding the chips (M4=good, Pro=great, Max=meh) 😁
Still no WIFI 7....WHY? its available on the iphone 16 Pro.....
That's exactly what I was saying. It's very disappointing, honestly, especially for the high-end MBPs.
It's a bit annoying, but why is everyone so hyped about Wifi7..? Is it any daily-life changing compared to 6E? Honestly curious.
@Skaratak - It's more efficient overall, and this channel has explained it well before.
Have a 2021 m1 and it seems fine and this doesn’t seem like a big upgrade. I’m waiting for a OLED display
finally Apple, a worthy upgrade from my M1 base Macbook Pro
Really tempted to upgrade from my M2 Pro 16" But I feel ill wait for the redesign which hopefully comes with the M5 Chips, plus my M2 Pro doesn't feel at all sluggish still feels as fast as new. I'd imagine a lot of people who got the M1 Chip MacBooks feel the same, they absolutely killed it with the M Series Chips.
I think it’s hilarious that they are still comparing their new MacBooks with intel based MacBooks 😂 there’s last intel MacBook was what like 5 years ago?
I mean why not? Many people are still on Intel macs
@@Johnny91832 I guess, idk I feel like it’s just an excuse to inflate the stats. I’d rather see the main comparison be between the existing Mac that it’s replacing
I have Macbook pro M3 Pro with 18gb of ram and 512gb, I got for $1700. You think the macbook pro M4 for $1600 is worth me swapping?
I really don’t understand the hype for the nano-textured display, it makes the display seem less sharp.
This is possibly the best base MBP yet. It's cheaper here in Singapore by abt S$150, 8GB more RAM, all the ports, in space black as well.
So THIS is why we have the notch.. to fit that fancy center stage webcam that I’ll never use! Finally the notch cutting into the otherwise clean menu bar, otherwise perfectly clean rectangular screen like every single other laptop that exists.. and certainly isn’t there for branding/marketing… is now justified!
I don't like the notch that's why I love my m2 macbook pro and also it has my favourite touch bar and as a student it's sufficient for me I never want to upgrade until I see a magic
1 question I would really like to know the performance difference between the new M4 iMac and the M4 macbook and the Same with the new mini equivalent .
The reason why I ask is I currently have the M1 iMac don't get me wrong it fits my requirements but sometimes struggles on photograph editing . I'd like to upgrade but I have a limited budget but really do like having a larger screen . .... thanks ❤
LETS BE REAL... Every MAC should have a 500GB Storage minimum. 256gb is a joke 41GB for the OS plus another 4GB for "Apple intelligence that sucks" and another 5-6GB for worthless apps you can't remove, like Pages, News, and TV. What a joke Apple has become... STATIC COMPANY!
Going from a 2016 windows laptop to mpb m4 pro with 48GB ram, exited about it.
Mac mini M4 Pro: 64GB RAM (unified memory) option is available, MacBook Pro M4 Pro: only 48GB RAM option is available. If you need more RAM you need to upgrade to MacBook Pro M4 Max.
For me, a M4 Macbook Air with Nano texture screen would be the most ideal. I can dream.
My wallet this time: My time has come..
Love The content You make! Learning from you!
I had a 15" BMP unibody with the matt display, that was amazing and definitely worth the extra cost.
Now THESE are what professional chips should be. Double down on peeformance cores as oppose of 50-50 it with sustain cores
"wow, Apple giving you more RAM and not charging you", we have been waiting forever for Apple to bump up base configurations on the RAM. Apple finally, bent the knee because the customers were tired of the price gouging. I'm surprised it didn't happen sooner.
I think M4 air will be the true succesor to OG M1 air.
They jacked the UK prices. £200 more for M4 and £100 more for M4 Pro.
Finally upgrading from an 2012 intel chip
Same!!
Help me here! Mackbook pro M3 Pro Or Mackbook Pro M4 ?
it's so weird M4 max is so underwhelming when all the other M4 updates are noticeable upgrades.
