  • The first in a series of videos on what we have learnt sailing these magnificent Balance Catamarans for 3 years. I go through what I think will make the best set up for a cruising catamaran that is the most maintenance friendly and easy to operate when short handed and even solo if need be.

Love your videos- keep them coming. I know that boats with a self-tacking jib need the radar on the spreader, but since you have experience with other boats with radar on the front of the mast I am curious which you prefer? I know there is a difference in where your radar “shadow/no sector” is for mast (behind you) vs spreader(to side). I don’t know if on spreader it is less likely to get snagged by a line or sail. So, assuming you could do either on a boat which would you pick? Thanks!

Thanks and 100%. Shadow is a minor drawback and no matter where you put the radar on the mast its there and just position changes..

Interesting ep. Enjoyed your content with Parley Revival, and as a fellow saffer, glad to see we build quality cats here. Love your boat, engines look.so clean etc. As a fisherman, do you have any preference motoring or saling whilst doing that?

Thanks for the technical video and sharing your views. I saw them preparing Zita on Saturday for her pending launch. Will you be taking her out for sea trials etc?

This was great information. I have been in the market for a cat and had this question on my mind about sail drive verses shaft drive access. I am also wondering what (if any) disadvantages/advantages to fuel tank, water/black tanks placements. As I have see many cats that have tanks all over. If the builder places tanks in an area for balance, but the owner loads provisions all over. How do you know things are correct?

The Nexus guys work that all out and make sure the boat is in "Balance". All their models are super well made functional boats unfortunately inexperienced and fussy owners can make things difficult with custom choices...

Love this kind of video. Thank you for sharing your experience and views on different "systems". Thanks and keep them coming. Would also love some more of your deep dives into setup and fishing technique off a cat.

Plenty on marlin in early vids off Cape Verde and especially Tropic Star Lodge Panama where we landed fish with the main still up.. Enjoy!

    Hi Trevor
I guess that all large boats it about functionality about being able to have minimal crew but maximum enjoyment . And be able to have as much home comfort as possible. The power source as got to be as important to be able to start your reliable motor's at a drop of a hat. On all boats you want minimal effort maximum enjoyment from the whole boat. I've watched all of parlay and that lagoon range is special. For a 45 foot vessel maximum comfort. I've only watched your channel and parlay.and obviously ship happens that's a little different. But sailing it's only the 2 of you 🥂🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

I lick your experienced view as you have sailed months at see.We need some more of your experienced views to help up and coming sailer going around the world. The axcess to the engines and gear box is a big thing and keeping the engines inboard away from the humid air to stop rust is a big thing in the long term, thank you for your valid opinion.

At 7:25 when you are fishing off the back deck there is black object with water coming out of it. What is that? Engine water tell tale? Bait tank? I haven't seen that before.

That was a make shift tuna tube(3) for keeping live baits alive.. Fed from the live well.. Recycled from discarded old Tubes at Tropic Star Lodge..

These days they better but angle drives are definitely more problematic... Experienced
