In the biblical story of the old testament, Delilah is the name of the woman & wife who manipulated and betrayed Samson, who was supposed to be the strongest man in the world. After she gave away the secret of his strength, she turned over to his enemies so Delilah was not exactly a good person. But BJ is right, the name means "delicate" in both Hebrew and Arabic. 😆
Our friends saw a great video of Sor Tom singing " I'll Never Fall In Love Again" and you would then expect them to watch the revealing video of Delilah and yet NO VIDEO??? So don't hold your breathe over watching his dancing on one of our friend's reactions :)
He said "I felt the knife in my hand and she laughed no more"....i don't think he used the knife to cut her a piece of pumpkin pie if you pick up what I'm putting down 🤔 Love you guys, you make me laugh 💚
Just amazing! I am English and I never ever want you to think we take you for granted! Truly a god given voice, the power of a jet engine, the calmness of a steam, you make every song your own. I am so glad you enjoyed this performance, we have been so lucky for years to see Tom and enjoy and appreciate every song he has sung!
Having the lyrics is fine and helpful. But, seeing them perform is better. The emotion, passion, dance moves, how they look, reactions of the audience (If they are present), how the band plays, the instruments. Otherwise you guys are excellent. Keep it up.
It never ceases to amaze me that, whenever there is a family celebration in British households, at some point everyone will get on the dance floor, hold hands and sing along to Delilah. It's a song about a jealous lover who stabs his partner to death, so why on earth we all groove on down to this, I have no idea. And yet we do. We just love this song and it never fails to pull us all together for a sing song. A happy family sing song about a murderous nut. Presumably Hannibal Lecter will produce something similar and we Brits will song along to that too 😂.
Tom Jones has an amazing voice...strong, powerful & clear. Now, it`s time for another great voice...Steve Perry-"Foolish Heart". If you can listen to Eminem, you certainly can listen to someone that can actually sing like Steve Perry. "Foolish Heart". Also, Christopher Cross-"Sailing"..Mr.Mister-"Broken Wings'. A great "piano" song by Bruce Hornsby-"The Way It Is".
Asia and BJ one of the things that I love about young people like you checking out these songs you're not saying they're too corny they're too old school and Old Fashioned you recognize good songs are good songs and so many are timeless and listening to you articulate your feelings perspective and emotions I could tell you guys get it in a time I would never believe people who are or maybe into rap hip hop and progressive rock could ever come to understand and appreciate these songs and you guys do and it is so refreshing to watch you I get such a kick of seeing and feeling your first reaction cuz again it takes me back to the first time I heard these songs and the way I reacted the first time hearing these songs again thank you so much I can't thank you enough sincerely heartfelt Joy Eric Sahagun
Delilah was a Philistine in the Bible. Samson was an Israelite who took the Nazarite vows which prohibits marriage outside of nation. Delilah deceived him.
It also reminds me of the opera Carmen with the Spanish feel to the music. Carmen is stabbed at the end of the opera by her lover when she falls for the bullfighter and laughs at her lover.
Now from these lyrics.... you can see why they stopped us trying to sing this at school. For reference I left school in the early 2000's, I'm also from Tom Jones's home country, so he's very well known. There's a big festival called the Eisteddfod that celebrates the country and language. At school on St. Davids day (Our Patron Saint), we'd have a mini version rolling music, arts and academic attainment together with a party at the end of the day. I think it was just around the turn of the millenium that some teachers took offense to this being played at the party and banned it. That didn't work. We couldn't have it at the party, but no one said that the orchestra kids couldn't play it. Which meant EVERYONE sang along. They tried for a few years, but gave up in the end because somehow the orchestra kids would find a way to play it. It might be a bit surprising for so many kids to know that song so well, since none of us were born. I mean heck some of our parents were still kids when it came out. Same reason for some reason everyone knows Bohemian Rhapsody in the UK. No one knows how or where they heard it first, it's just meshed with the culture.
I'm old, but Tom Jones was a little before my time to be an actual fan. However, my husband and I saw his show in Vegas at MGM Grand FOUR TIMES (2004-2005)! He is incredibly entertaining! There are so many more great songs for you to react to he's done. I hope you get to some of them. It's Not Unusual, What's Up Pussycat, and he even did a cover of Prince's "Kiss". He's amazing!
There's no greater feeling of being the only English man in a pub and EVERY Welsh person there bursts into song when this comes on the juke box. Every Welsh person, all ages even the dogs join in.. Sometimes it's a feeling of fear when it's one of the country pubs and they've all been talking only in Welsh then sing this at you.. They also sing this at the footy games. It's awesome to hear. The Welsh are the greatest collective group of singers in the WORLD.. :)
I have a portrait of my great grandfather Henry Jones born in the same town as him. I was always told how men of Wales are known for having great big powerful voices. It did not translate to us unfortunately. I'd love to visit that pub though.
Great reaction and strangely I've heard that song a lot, but this is first time I really paid attention to the lyrics, made me like it more. Did you know Elvis was a big fan of Tom Jones and they did hang out a lot together. Just a fact you might like to know, I seen in several interviews, God Bless!
will.i.am, is an American rapper, as you might know he is a friend of Sir Thomas John Woodward OBE, known professionally as Tom Jones, they where on The Voice UK. Please have a look at Eivør - Falling Free (Live at the Old Theater in Torshavn) it is magic if you don't feel it your dead lol.All the best from England and stay safe both.
He sang this before Wales v England at rugby in 1999- Wales won a classic match. Welsh rugby crowds love to sing, see the Welsh anthem sung at the 2013 game v England (which Wales won 30-3)
The live version is terrific Tom performance is pure theatre. Tom had his own music in the US for years and anybody who was anybody sung with him on that show, he headlined in Las Vegas for years. Delilah was the wife of Samson who betrayed him to his enemies by cutting his hair while he slept, as the secret of his great strength was in his long hair. Just like Tom, Samson did take revenge on his wife and enemies by pulling down the great pillars of the Temple with everyone inside......lol 😆
Actually the writer did write it in reflection on the Bible story, but he added a new twist. In the Bible, the tragedy is Samson's but in the song Samson takes her down with himself sharing the tragedy and giving her well deserved justice
Love ya guys, you 2 are fun to watch as you watch music from back when music did not all sound the same like today. Afterall what they call hip hop or rap their are about 4 million of those tunes with a total of maybe 3 different melodies or beats. When is enough enough?
Great reaction, O loved how both of you laughed at this song, without feeling the need to do some po-faced politically correct virtue signaling. And BJ was spot -on about Sir Tom's vocal and performing abilities.
I know this might sound kinda cheesy but the sound track Thunder ball. Which is a 007 movie really show his range and versatility of storytelling. I think you will like it.
I wanted to share a fact and an observation so many times I've seen young people like you stopping the music and rubbing your arms with goosebumps and saying what the heck is going on with me why am I getting Goosebumps in the hair is raising up from my arm and the back of my neck and what I've noticed is every time you guys say that men or women it is because of the orchestra playing in the background dynamically supporting the vocals with horns strings violins cellos Etc which has always titillated pun intended the women and the men know it back in the day when they played these instruments just an FYI for ya'all !!!!!!!!!!!!!
many oldies go to the extreme , but they had to do it in an almost wholesome way . the music machine required this back then . anyone who approached or crossed that line , would be deemed "BAD BOY OR BAD GIRL" making their career harder . kind of like : black-balling !
You don't forgive me if it sounds like I'm criticizing but what's fascinating you me and everybody about this song Delilah it is like a mini movie that's playing in your head you can see every scene and emotion which makes this song that much more powerfuL!
😂😂😂 Fun facts: I have been loving the song for over 30 years plus…. And NEVER listen to the lyrics, until maybe few months ago. 🤯 Storyline: He was a STOCKER and he KILLED her. 😊 BUT, still a Great song a Tom is a phenomenal singer 👍❤️👍🦋🦋🦋
And he still has the voice at 80!!! Legendary Sir Tom.. Can't go wrong here.. Perfect reaction..
🏴
I enjoyed this review! ( Delilah was a vixen who deceived Samson in the Old Testament).
I highly doubt the song was written about that 😂
not in the world but in all Israel
😊🤙🏾
My god, his voice! He can sing to me anytime! Could you imagine Tom & Elvis in concert together? A woman's dream!!! 🥰😘😍🤗
"Treat Her Right" by Tom Jones is a must. You'll freak out on his dancing!
Our friends saw a great video of Sor Tom singing " I'll Never Fall In Love Again" and you would then expect them to watch the revealing video of Delilah and yet NO VIDEO???

Love you guys, you make me laugh 💚
XD!!!
He went Joker!
i love that a song with such a dark theme as betrayal and murder is such a nice upbeat dance number xD
the contrast is great.
Tom Jones is a class act! Glad to see everyone giving these young people Great music! 🤠🐎🥞🇺🇸✌️
Must watch him singing, he got moves
Just amazing!
I am English and I never ever want you to think we take you for granted!
Truly a god given voice, the power of a jet engine, the calmness of a steam, you make every song your own. I am so glad you enjoyed this performance, we have been so lucky for years to see Tom and enjoy and appreciate every song he has sung!
Got to love when Sir Tom Jones takes the mic...
Having the lyrics is fine and helpful. But, seeing them perform is better. The emotion, passion, dance moves, how they look, reactions of the audience (If they are present), how the band plays, the instruments. Otherwise you guys are excellent. Keep it up.

Even the Royal Family does... although perhaps for them this is real history..
😂yes, any house party with middle aged people in the 80's
His first hit, IT'S NOT UNUSUAL is great !
Asia, darlin'. Your smile could light a small city.
I love it when you like a song - you light up.
I enjoy your reactions so much, so thank you for this one! And yes, Asia, Tom Jones could SING!!
Tom Jones is the OG. Ladykiller...in more ways than one.
He really slayed 'em.
We kids always sang it, " Bye, bye, bye, Delilah!"
React to Tom Jones and Janis Joplin singing a Duo on the Tom Jones Show
Tom Jones has an amazing voice...strong, powerful & clear. Now, it`s time for another great voice...Steve Perry-"Foolish Heart". Great reaction great song and he still sounds great checkout his song treat her right
Delilah is Asia ! Theres no doubt about it. Ya'llll.....

Tom said I cant go for that.
No can do.
lol
Delilah was a Philistine in the Bible. Samson was an Israelite who took the Nazarite vows which prohibits marriage outside of nation. Delilah deceived him.
Asia, you have one of the most happy, beautiful and sincere smile I've seen in a long time! ❤️
This was a fun one. "I'll Never Fall In Love Again" in my opinion was his best.
Gotta love that voice!
Yep he did it .. He killed her and the police were going to break down the door to arrest him.
You have to watch tom Jones song treat her right.Only with the video.
In the day….
When he sang; hearts were breaking and panties were dropping
I always thought that it should have ended in "Bye, Bye, Bye Delilah !"
Tom Jones can really sing. what a story, cool.
We nearly rolled a tour bus rocking it to this song 😂
We karaoked the hell out of the PA system 😂
It also reminds me of the opera Carmen with the Spanish feel to the music. Carmen is stabbed at the end of the opera by her lover when she falls for the bullfighter and laughs at her lover.
Wish you had shown the video! The hip swiveling alone is worth it! I was 19 when that song came out!😉My favorite couple you guys!
OK, you two. this song leads naturally into "Green, green grass of Home". Great reaction!
You could go: 1- I'll Never Fall In Love Again. 2- Delilah. 3- Green Green Grass Of Home. : )
Yep, ‘Green, green grass of Home’ was what he got for ‘killing’ Delilah.
Play this song in a pub and everyone is singing it at the top of their voices, no matter how old they are.
His voice is magic! That was a pretty daring song for back then. Have you seen his video of "I'll Never Fall in Love Again"? It's amazing!

Elvis always my favorite but I love Tom's voice too
This song is sang by thousands in packed soccer stadiums . It is astounding
What conclusion do you need? They put a tag on her toe.... The End. 😂
Song came out when I was a kid it went over my head I thought he was saying BYE BYE BYYYYYYE DELIAH😂😂😂😂😂
Loved the shocked look on your faces! Tom Jones is actually a knight in England. He is Sir Tom Jones.
He is Welsh, not English.
He took her out!!!!😂😂😂
Green Green Grass Of Home and She's A Lady are two more bangers by Tom Jones!
You must watch the new clip from the voice when he does live "I wont' crumble if you fall." Everyone cried. It's amazing!!!
He sang this before Wales v England at rugby in 1999- Wales won a classic match. Welsh rugby crowds love to sing, see the Welsh anthem sung at the 2013 game v England (which Wales won 30-3)

Awesome voice!!!! Listen to more of his songs....
Beware of dating women called Delilah.
Like Big Worm said in the first "Friday" movie....."Don't Play with My Emotions" Delilah!!! lol

He did it. He told you he did it. He felt the knife in his hand, and she laughed no more. He stabbed her. The breaking down the door would be the Law.
The first time I heard of Tom Jones was in the Fresh Prince.
One of the greats!
Tom Jones is from Wales, you should check out his song Green Green grass of home and Thunder ball
Hey guys, in 1969 Tom Jones had his own TV program and he had on Stevie Wonder, check it out. Sorry, I don't have a link, but I bet You Tube does.
He killed her, he was the original O.J. ain't No Mystery, he ain't dead cause he's still singing.
great job guys !!
Freddie Mercury with Queen has a song called Delilah. It's about Freddie's favorite cat.
This song reminds me of Johnny Cash's song "Delia's Gone".
To hear the ending of this story, listen to Tom Jones' song, "Green, Green Grass of Home". :)
Check out some of his live videos..
Powerful singer.
Actually the writer did write it in reflection on the Bible story, but he added a new twist. In the Bible, the tragedy is Samson's but in the song Samson takes her down with himself sharing the tragedy and giving her well deserved justice
I was hoping he would sing Bye, bye, bye Delilah.

Great reaction, hope you both have a fab New Year 👍
Asia - if there's anyone in the world with a better smile than yours I haven't seen it. Enchanting :)
Asia sure seemed to take a lot of enjoyment in Delilah's demise. Lol!
This song would never get produced nowadays.
Rightly or wrongly, art were never about only the nicety’s of life, but about honesty.
Great reaction, O loved how both of you laughed at this song, without feeling the need to do some po-faced politically correct virtue signaling.
And BJ was spot -on about Sir Tom's vocal and performing abilities.
Sounds like the story of OJ
Don’t it
You want to know what happened? Listen to Tom Jones sing Green Green Grass of Home.
I know this might sound kinda cheesy but the sound track Thunder ball. Which is a 007 movie really show his range and versatility of storytelling. I think you will like it.

Most suave song on heart about killing a killing your cheating girl 💀😂 and over her dead body say, “Forgive me, Delilah.”
Welcome to the world of Murder Ballads :) If you look back through your episodes there might be a few others you have done.
His song Green Green grass of Home
Aloha from Maui ! You guys are awesome !
Idk why I never heard the knife part in this song.
Try the Sensational Alex Harvey band version
many oldies go to the extreme , but they had to do it in an almost wholesome way . the music machine required this back then .
anyone who approached or crossed that line , would be deemed "BAD BOY OR BAD GIRL" making their career harder . kind of like : black-balling !

Delilah was the woman who betrayed Sampson to the Philastined.
Brilliant reaction🤣🤣🤣
😂😂😂 Fun facts: I have been loving the song for over 30 years plus….

BUT, still a Great song a Tom is a phenomenal singer 👍❤️👍🦋🦋🦋
The follow up to this is Green, Green Grass of Home when he got out of prison.
He told you, he knifed the cheater. That's why the police came to break down the door.
7:05 & 7:08 reminded me of "Every Breath You Take", by The Police.
You have to see him do this live! Watch this version of Tom Jones "Delilah" Live.
