Three and half hour concert to celebrate ten years as a band. Shortly followed by another concert featuring mostly songs they couldn't fit into the three and a half hour concert. A very special band.
Just think, their shows are usually 2+ hours long at this level of awesomeness. This show was 3.5 hours long! I've seen them live four times and they are the best I've ever witnessed.
The story is that Saiki (lead vocals) has a friend that was cheated on during the covid years. You could say that Saiki was less than impressed by his actions, so she wrote these lyrics ;)
Saiki (lead vocals) wrote the lyrics for this, her third and it does stand out from their general theme. Miku's (rhythm guitar) lyrics are generally positive, encouraging and a bit philisophical at times and she can definitely write a love song as well which can get a tad emotional especially when she has Saiki to deliver it who can ramp up the emotion even more, particularly when it's an acoustic arrangement.
Kanami Tōno, lead guitarist composes all their songs. First raw idea she send to Misa(bass) and when Misa send her demo back, then Kanami send Akane(drums) the second raw version..Those three are the main pillars..then Kanami thinks Saiki’s vocals and last she add Miku’s rhytm guitar parts. My favorite way to enjoy a new Band-Maid song is to listen to it multiple times. Once while concentrating on each member. Because they pack a heck of a lot in each song.
Band Maid’s bassist and drummer are currently THE BEST rhythm section on planet earth. Nobody else consistently delivers in the pocket like Misa and Akane. In many of their live vids in the background you’ll see Misa walk close and face Akane’s drum kit and you literally see them mind meld into one singular force of nature. #facts.

The best band on the planet. You need to check out their buddies The Warning. 3 Mexican sisters that absolutely rock. They are performing a concert together in Japan on the 12th. Hopefully a tour together is coming up. Both of these bands rip!
Might I suggest FREEDOM LIVE for an AKANE drum solo! They are literally their own genre. May I be the first to use a MAIDIACS (what us BAND-MAID fans call ourselves) trope, BAND-MAID doing BAND-MAID things!
If you want more of amazing drum and bass in a "familiar" hard rock song that kick ass, then I would suggest the MV "Shambles". If you feel like more adventures in genres, try the MV "Influencer" for amazing bass and drums. Old school like you never heard it before, then go for "Play" live.
Welcome back, kind sir. “Hate?” is definitely an anomaly in the Band Maid catalog. The only song with negative lyrics. All other songs, typically, are poetic and clever, often motivational or philosophical. However, because I don’t understand much Japanese, Saiki’s voice becomes the fifth instrument when I listen. It’s also one of Kanami’s “dense” songs. Layered and complex, often taking several listens to find the groove. Other than the bass, you haven’t really pointed out any musical highlights. Your likes and dislikes. It helps with recommendations because Band Maid is exceptionally diverse in musical styles. They have songs that could appeal to Metallica fans, and other songs (often from the same album) might appeal to a mainstream pop audience. Enjoy the journey down the pigeonhole 🕊️ I promise one of the most common themes you’ll find is “fun”
