Wow this is a great upload, Harry Kalas' voice is both nostalgic and therapeutic to hear, grew up hearing him every Sat+Sunday afternoons on the family room TV
Wow! Thanks so much for the upload. I am collecting all known Phillies footage and this helped me tick of a handful of 1981 games. Keep em coming if you have em!
I noticed that the in 81, the Phillies started to use a darker shade of red…burgundy at least in their batting helmets. If I’m not mistaken they officially adopted burgundy as their official shade of red in 1982 for both caps and batting helmets
I agree 100% what Schmidty said, in a Championship series where you beat Carlton twice! You deserve to win! Both match-ups the Phillies couldn’t touch Steve Rogers. In game 1 the Phillies only scored 1 run off the guy. He practically went the distance, except for having to leave the game in the 9th inning because two Phillies got on base and Rogers was just tiring. But, in game 5, the Phillies couldn’t touch Rogers. He shut them out. The Expos deserved to win if they can shut down our best pitcher, my hat goes off to those guys. It was a good series and the better team won that year!
I'm fairly certain that I attended one of those playoff games as a young kid in Philly but after attending the World Series the year before it seems that the details of the 1981 experience been lost in my memory.
Talk about what if. Phillies were playing very well until the strike. Then for the 2nd half played uninspired baseball. Schmidt had a monster season. He would have hit 50 HR's that season if there was no strike.
I sure wish I did but I'm sorry I don't. I kind of lucked into finding the '81 and '87 highlight yearbooks. You may know this but, for what it's worth, someone posted the final five minutes of the '78 film. I'd love to see the whole thing. The '77 film is on TH-cam. As a kid in Philly I use to love watching them during rain delays. Too bad it was before I had a VCR.
@@joetolstoy3573Thanks for letting us know. I was going to ask you about 1982 and 1983 Phillies highlight films. P.S.: there’s also a 1986 Phillies highlight film out on TH-cam. Just wanted to let you know.

The unveiling of the Star Trek The Next Generation theme song at the top.
Thank you for posting.
It was the theme for Star Trek: The Motion Picture first which is where they got it from.
Nice! I didn’t even know there was an ‘81 video.

Rogers was the Expos version of Steve Carlton.
The 1981 Phillies highlight film "Take It From The Top"
You can definitely tell the falloff from the NFL Films Phillies Highlight films of years past...

Do you have 1978 & 1979 Phillies highlights?
