    34 acres here, 30 acre tree lot, 3000sq ft garden. 200 foot well. Not off grid as I still need electricity, but do have a duel fuel generator. Heard someone say always remember the 3 important things to stick up, the 3 B's, Beans, bandaids, bullets. Can use it barter with those.

    My husband and I just had a similar discussion and list writing about what we want to have done on our homestead before things get worse. We also talked about raising pork and the biblical implications as well and realized that even if we and our family are not comfortable consuming the pork ourselves our dogs can eat it and it can become a great bartering tool if things continue to get worse. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and I would definitely like more videos like this from both of you.

      Ok awesome! Thank you so much for your thoughts and letting us know that this type of video wasn’t…. Horrible. 🤣🤣🤣
      Yea, the pork thing is tough. I’d say leave it up to the Holy Spirit and your own convictions. We are not yet convicted. We feel like Jesus saved us from “the law”. But not sure.
      And yep, I think at the very least this is a conversation that everyone needs to be having and thinking through.
      Thank you so so much again!!!!

    I just found your channel this last week and fell in love with you guys and now I'm binge watching as much as I can each time I sit down to watch something. My first was the baby shower video for Meg and I just love your wife /family. This video actually helps me get to know you guys so much better faster than trying to watch years into your TH-cam history. Just a couple quick comments because you've asked for them and I think it's necessary in today's time on these couple subject matters. If you read deeper into the Bible, we will see that Jesus said the Old law covenant and the things like the hooved animals, circumcision and much more were not things that they needed to be concerned with at that time and that many of the religious leaders of their time were arguing over the small stuff. It's how we treat God's animals when we have them, how we slaughter them and treat the blood. Blood that was the lesson Jesus wanted us to focus on and not what breed of animal. So enjoy your bacon my brother, because you are definitely fostering the land and animals appropriately in my opinion. And the government oh boy! Pay Caesars things to Caesar and God's things to God. So we have to abide by the rules if they are not contradicting gods and be good citizens and stewards of our land. That is, however, as far as my investment into the government that I am willing to give. It is not possible for the best of imperfect humans today to solve all the worlds or country's problems even if every person on their team agreed with decisions or plans and we know that would never be the case. It is Bible prophecy that world governments would be in the hands of the wicked one . Therefore, it's our responsibility and how we were created to be reasonable thinkers and rely on God, living and working with the laws and principles in his written word. I can't say that I believe " world war III" is in the making or ever going to happen but I do believe the scriptures tell us there will be an end to this government and a great tribulation. Whatever that looks like and how we prepare for it needs to be reasonable , respectful and prayerful. It seems on your part, you're doing a great job. You guys have my love and respect and hope and your success in these efforts along the way. So much more to say but this was long-winded enough. Lol. I know these comments help your channel and I hope it helps your hearts in knowing one more family supports. you

      Oh thank you so much Holly!! Yes, we are right where you are regarding the biblical old testament laws, but YUP we do get this comment very often. haha!

    Thank you for sharing about processing your pig. We've never done it ourselves. Always take them to someone else. We're planning to do it ourselves this time around, but even when I don't see the end, the day we load them and take them is always a sad one for me. I don't get attached to them, but I do know what that day means for that animal. I've been kind of worried about how I will feel when the day comes for us to do it, but you've given me a different perspective. You are absolutely right that it is stressful for them taking them in to a meat processor. I think if I can keep that in mind, it will help. Our animals do have good lives while they're here. We try to honor them that way. You sharing that did help. Now I just have to get over my insecurities about being able to make my own bacon, sausage and ham. I'll clean any animal put in front of me, but there are just some things I don't know how to do. The bacon thing scares me. Anyway, thank you again for sharing that.

      I know what you mean. The part of knowing them has such benefits and cons. Doing it at home had one really good pro… no stress! She bent her head down to drink milk and that was the last moment. No travel stress, no coaxing in or out of the trailer. And that was relieving to me. I love the way you said “honor” them. I think there are absolutely ways to do that in this process.

    I have also prayed about preparedness for what is coming and I heard in my spirit, the scripture, "For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it." (Matthew 16:25)
    And I thought, yea, why would I try to preserve this life here, when I am so anticipating the one to come?

    • @BetterTogetherLife
      @BetterTogetherLife  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Sooooooooo true!!!!!! We are just praying for “Jesus to please come back”!!!
      The hardest thing for me to understand is all of the several interpretations of the end times.
      -Jesus is God
      -Jesus is the way
      -Christ is King
      -Father, Son, Holy Spirit, existing as ONE GOD
      Those are all non negotiable. But there are some things that I’m 100% sure how. Which keeps us wanting to just be prepared a bit.
      But yes yes!!!!! We want and NEED our FOREVER HOME WITH HIM!!!!! 😁😁😁

    • @thegoodfight426
      @thegoodfight426 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@BetterTogetherLife I know, it seems God made some of these things so vague. Maybe so that we'll have to seek Him to understand.
      All I know is that during C0v1d, He provided even toilet paper for us. Right before the "shortage" happened, I bought more toilet paper than I ever had in my life because there was a great sale at the grocery store. Literally, the next week, the toilet paper shortage began. I thought wow, if God even cares about us being able to wipe our rear ends, what is there that He doesn't care for!!! 🤣
      Also, one night in that place between being asleep and awake, it was like Jesus was right next to me, whispering in my ear that, He will SURELY deliver us! It was the first time I ever heard the audible voice of God. All I could do was lay there and say, "wow,...wow!"
      I love the scriptures found in Job 5:19-27;
      "He shall deliver thee in six troubles: yea, in seven there shall no evil touch thee.
      In famine he shall redeem thee from death: and in war from the power of the sword.
      Thou shalt be hid from the scourge of the tongue: neither shalt thou be afraid of destruction when it cometh.
      At destruction and famine thou shalt laugh: neither shalt thou be afraid of the beasts of the earth.
      For thou shalt be in league with the stones of the field: and the beasts of the field shall be at peace with thee.
      And thou shalt know that thy tabernacle shall be in peace; and thou shalt visit thy habitation, and shalt not sin.
      Thou shalt know also that thy seed shall be great, and thine offspring as the grass of the earth.
      Thou shalt come to thy grave in a full age, like as a shock of corn cometh in in his season.
      Lo this, we have searched it, so it is; hear it, and know thou it for thy good."
      God's got us, no matter what!!! 💜💜💜

    Look at goat or sheep milk being closer to A2A2 milk
    For those who don’t want cows there are other ways
    We are in Texas and growing Pakistan mulberry, paper mulberry, mimosa, pine, Sweet potato, yaupon, bamboo, vetiver, beautyberry Ect…for our animals
    As far as processing… you can love your animals but family comes first and feeding your human family comes first. You can grow food that’s healthier than anything you can buy at a store. Put your big girl pants on and take care of your human family while allowing your animals to have a beautiful life while they are here.
    The day you choose an animal over the health of your human family…. You need to rethink your priorities and the gifts god has given you.
    We did lease to own land with a tiny house till we could afford to purchase the land.
    You make sacrifices till you can do what’s necessary.
    Animal sales have helped us purchase things we needed to keep improving the land.
    One type of animal every 6 months was our goal. Get good at it before moving to the next. Learn to not need a vet.
    We also have forest and wouldn’t trade it. You can clear what’s needed but very hard to build a forest.
    Support no one politically

    Wow, Beau, you have certainly left me with some food for thought! My husband is more up on this than me, I have preferred to stick my head in the sand and ignore it all. But now all the world happenings have infiltrated the sand 😢. One of the books that was required reading for a history class in college was “Why Nations Go to War.” It was stated in this book (I read it 1991) was that the next World War will come out of the Middle East. As I have watched world events unfold, this is certainly proving to be the case.
    Things my husband and I are doing now include having a prepper pantry to store extra food, keeping weapons in good working condition, having extra ammunition, and getting to know our neighbors.
    I love all the videos you and Kelly put out! I wish we had done as y’all are doing, my husband wanted to but I was opposed to it. This was back in the 70s, I was in my 20s, he in his 30s. I so regret that now.
    May God bless you and your family ♥️

    WWIII has already started. I would add comms... Get a shortwave receiver with Single Side Band and good sensitivity. XData has several portable radios that are good. Start there then add an an Icom R75 (receiver only) or Icom 705 (can receive and transmit). Other good receivers are: Icom R8500, and Kenwood R-5000. I'd have GMRS radios... handheld and as base station and in your vehicles. You could throw in an old cobra CB for good measure. For receive only I'd use a Diamond omni-directional cone antenna for receive. Also there are Software Defined Radios for receive only... RTL-SDR USB dongle for your computer. If you get your Ham Radio license you can also get into digital modes for two digital messages. Sorry I know its a long list... But Research Meshtastic for secure messaging.

    About the solar panels - They're a good idea, but we had professionals put two giant spans of panels on our 30x40 metal building house and also on the added on garage that's like 30x30 (so on the south facing both roofs) and it still will not completely run everything if the grid goes down. What we have done is lower our electric bill and when the power goes off, we barely notice a single blip when it flips over to the backup batteries. BUT the worst thing about them is that the whole house system with two backup batteries requires a ton of electronics knowledge and we couldn't fix something ourselves. So, we aren't sure what would happen if the ability to have internet would affect our system because it's monitored for usage that way & for things not working. We didn't realize it, but they called and said "hey, we noticed this wasn't working, so a tech is on the way."
    We've been a bit lax about preparedness since the pandemic is in the rearview mirror, but we had the same talk as a result of your video. Thanks for posting this & getting us thinking!!!

      I've thought about getting solar panels. But after seeing several of my neighbors getting new roofs multiple times in the last 5 years, I'm not so sure. Plus, here in Florida, homeowners insurance companies are rejecting or dropping people for panels that don't meet the insurance companies standards.

    I love the scriptures found in Job 5:19-27;

    If someone paid for land and own it…then no one has any right to be on it whether they use it or not. They pay the taxes on it and it’s no one’s business and if it’s mine people better stay the hell off of it. There’s no such thing as abandoned land. Someone owns it. And if they choose to leave it sit that’s their business. It’s an asset.

    I can understand following the Biblical dietary laws back when there was no way of properly preserving or cooking meats. Parasites are real. This is why I personally will NEVER eat raw fish sushi or ANY raw meat in general. I agree with Beau, and following the laws set down in Deuteronomy and Leviticus is a personal choice. I hope that it works for whomever wrote that question, and God bless you.
    P.S. I believe that not only are we in the "early stages " of WW III, I think that these started back with Dubya's "War on Terror" after 9/11/2001. I also think that we are truly in the beginnings of the End Times. Now, that said, what am I doing? Nothing, except trying to prepare mentally and spiritually, living my life as best as I can according to His Way and Teachings. Forty-one years ago my late husband and I built our home on land in Bandera County with the same ideas in mind that you and Kelly have for ourselves and our two daughters. Gary passed in 2006. I sold our home in December 2011. I pray that it provides for and protects the family living there. I will be 69 this summer. What can I do if the excrement hits the oscillatory ventilation system? Barter my knowledge. I am a retired RN. I taught school before I became a nurse. Once things collapse, we will need to rely on each other in community like 100 to 150 years ago. God bless you, Beau and Kelly Brotherton. And get that generator fixed. Also, get those solar panels. I have 13 on my roof here in Kerrville and sell back to the grid. Last summer I actually had a credit on my utility bill! My highest bills the past two years were during the dead of winter at $125-$175, when others were 2x to 3x as much. The biggest issue for me is the $30K/battery for household size batteries. My goal is to get a dual fuel Generac battery within the next 3 to 5 years.

    For your family, it is worth being prepared but not because of fear either. I chose to live every day to the best I can butI am old and not worried. The Bible says we will know the season for the second coming of Christ. For centuries people have said any time now He is coming! The END is near...but I actually feel a difference it the atmosphere, or the mood of the land has changed. The evil that is everywhere in most cities and most countries, with the children missing, trans children, and the wrong people are feeding the wrong spirits. Never before in world history are the "news" saying the exact same things. Every prophecy has been fulfilled from the Bible and the last one is rebuilding the Temple and the sacrifice of the red heifer, they now have the heifer, it is very close to the Rapture!

    If you are lactose intolerant, you should drink raw milk. All pasteurized milk is homogenized. Which means it is forced through a tiny screen or filter to destroy the natural fat cells. That is why store milk doesn't separate. The natural fat in raw milk helps with digestion. I've been told by several lactose intolerant people that they can only drink raw milk because of the fat cells that help with digestion. I'm a 5th generation dairy farmer and I've been drinking raw milk my whole life. I will never give in. Pasteurized milk is too thin and doesn't taste right, or good to me. I'm almost 40. During the summer when I'm working hard in the heat, I drink over a gallon of raw milk daily.

    Good video. Answered a lot of important questions. Thoughts on current events and preparation are good topics. I like how you keep it real and don't sugar coat it. Living a self sustaining life should be a consideration regardless of current events. Something Americans have turned away from and need to get back to. I am a city apartment dweller and yes there are things I can do for a more self sustaining life. I like including faith in the discussion. Faith is something this world needs more of.

      Now, I never said that "homesteading" is how you prepare your home/family for an invasion.

    • @JR-yz7de
      @JR-yz7de 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Only thing I was able to get done was put in a driveway and clear out half acre myself. Electric would cost me $90K to have run to my land since it’s off of an unimproved road and the nearest conduit is three quarters of a mile away. No well yet, or anything. A modest home costs well over $500K to build in addition to utilities. No way I can ever afford that at this point.

      Find a local sawmill and ask for the 3B lumber. We got our bundles for $300. It was a stacked bundle that had a lot of wood! We used this for the inside walls and outside siding. Plus all the shelves in the house. We got our framing wood from the same sawmill. Find a local handyman to help you. They are cheaper than contractors and usually know more. TH-cam university is a great place to learn how to do things. Our friends were in the same situation on water and electric. They caught rain water and had 6 panels for their family of 7. We found windows for free. Electrical panels for free, claw foot tub and bathroom vanity for free. Beautiful old kitchen sink for $10. We bought our land and built our cabin for $20k. Even put in fencing, built a shop with leftover materials we got for free. Resources are out there if you look. It’s work, but doable. We sold it for $140k. You just have to get creative. We also cleared the land by hand with weedeaters, machetes, and a push mower. Chainsaw was later in the game.
