cool... but i hadn't understood their concept of social illness.
is it about how people see and treat sick people?

ok so when someone is sick basically they will avoid going to work and will have chicken soup and rest. Basically these actions happen because thats really what society taught us and thats why this is a social construct. Its obviously not biological and innate for us to eat chicken soup if we are sick

@@MrJayPuff that would be the "social treatment" - doing a set of things that supposedly will make you better and that might actually make you better because of how you've been conditioned to feel after doing those things before...
But their concept of social illness is still a little odd on the video for me

This is something I learned about in medical anthropology. Don't confuse illness and disease; illness is the subjective experience of a disease, whereas disease is a condition that can be biologically attributed. In this case, whereas disease is an objective reality attributed to a specific biological cause, illness is a social construct because the feeling of being ill is something that everyone collectively agrees comes with certain meanings (less able to work, probably isn't feeling well, etc.)

@@bando3582 buddy, if you minded commenting i guess you want to help! I appreciate that!! Id say that in order to do so, youd have to first watch the video, take a look on what THEY wanted to mean with social illness, and then understand why I had a doubt on such self explanatory words... I think they got a simple concept wrong!
