Odin's Quest for Wisdom

  • The Court of Asgard had Odin, the all-father and leader of the Aesir Gods - goes on a quest. For he is not the All-father the myths know him to be, yet.
First he must learn, he must gain knowledge and grow.
This is the story of Odin's quest for knowledge, in which he deals with the evil dwarves, stolen mead, and great sacrifice.
All leading to the meditation under the world tree - Yggdrasil, but can Odin complete his quest? And at what cost?...
Living Mythology is an attempt to entertain, relax and educate all in the one place. We are trying to forge narratives so that people can experience the religions and mythologies of the world as they were meant to be. Not as dry academic monoliths, but as living breathing tales and parables as experienced by the peoples who worshipped these beings, in an attempt to make sense of their own lives and the world around them.
This channel is in its infancy, so we hope to improve and develop it as we gain more experience.
All of the tales are taken from very conflicting traditions across many centuries, so there will be many a moment when decisions need to be made to create a more cohesive narrative. If we present something that seems to be in contrast to details, rest assured we have researched many forms of the traditions and come to the conclusions we have done to form the videos.
There will NEVER be total agreement on any of these narratives due to the history and differing ways they developed over the centuries.
These videos are for entertainment and an easy gateway to the subject. If you wish more academic details then please direct your attention to the wide source material and others who perform those types of academic video essays.

Odin, and his continuing mission, to seek out new knowledge and new incantations, to find lost wisdom and draw out new thoughts, to Boldly Know like no-one has Known Before!!

Odin had such insatiable thirst for knowledge...it's not surprising he was heading for trouble as he continued to pursue knowledge. Thanks again for bringing the Norse mythos alive, LIghtbringer and Baldermort.

I love how everyone's always calling Loki the trickster God when really the end of the day. Loki never does anything that doesn't get himself another serious amount of trouble like he always gets caught. He barely ever gets away by the skin of his teeth. Yet you have Odin here going through story after story of him using his wits and his guile to basically get everything he wants and end at the end of the day. Sits on the throne and just like yep I am still the king

Odin was known for being cunning. Odin saw a little of himself in Loki when they met. He was enamored with Loki enough to take a blood bond.

I truly enjoy the production and performance of these stories, and I am excited at each new upload. One bit of feedback regarding the writing though. "And yet" is a phrase that is starting to be really overused in your writing. Hopefully you can vary your narrative a little more in future uploads.

It’s a bardic style. So repetition creates flow. Like it or not, that’s on purpose.

    was not ALL KNOWING!
    so Not a GOD:
He was A Mighty King of the North!
As you know the First gods were named after planets and Weather !
So the kings who described themselves as god also represented one of these icons and became the avatar hence STROM GOD THOR!
    suplanting his father (ZEUS)
    his father (ODIN(Chronus))!

From my understanding, Odin is where we get the day named Wednesday. (WOdinsday).
      Just like Thursday is Thorsday.
Connected to the planets, Wednesday is Mercury’s day. Thursday is Jupiter’s day.
So, I’ve associated Odin with Mercury.
In Greek mythology, Hermes is associated with Mercury. Jupiter with Zeus.
      It’s just all so fascinating!
