Wonderful explanation of using Tanpura (original string instrument) is the authentic instrument and the electronic is a sublimation. We all know that Electronic it can't be compared original Tanpura even though it may be easy to learn and a "shortcut". But forgive me Dr. Ji, why are we not teach the Guru Nanak Dev Ji's Tukhari that is documented by Patiala University in two volume of Kirtan Reet Ratnavali Books and authenticated by Great Raagi's like Bhai Sahib Bhai Samund Singh Ji a 11 generations carried forward. This Maduvanti style was not sung by any Raagi until 1991 when Jawaddi published this Madhuvanti style notation from because it easy to teach (Dilip Chandar Bedi a classical singer who doesn't have any recording of him singing). I really appreciate say the we are wrong to leave the Guru Nanak Dev Ji Tukhari that was sung by our Sikh Great Raagis of this Era like Bhai Avtar Singh Ji - Bhai Gurcharan Singh Ji, bhai Balbir Singh Ji, Bhai Hari Singh Ji and most of all Bhai Samund Singh Jji. Each one of these great Raagis spent a "Live Time" perserving this Guru Nanak Dev Ji Tukhari. Frankly, I find it offensive to say that "Change is the Law of Nature" to justify replacing it with the easy Madhuvanti with one additional note because it's as easy as an Electronic Tanpura. What's next? Change Assa to Mand? I humbly request that if we are Sikh's, we should all sing the Guru Nakak Dev Ji Tukhari as perserved by our "Golden Raagi's" and documented by Bhai Avtar Singh - Bhai Gurcharan Singh Ji are Authentcation by Bhai Samund Singh Ji and published Patila University. Today 99% of the Raagis sing this easy Madhuvanti style (the electronic Tanpura) and we have lost our Guru Nanak Dev Ji's Tukhari. 10 years from now there will be no to say as Dr Ji said that this was sung by our Great Raagi. This recording is from 1971, before the Books were writen and 20 years before the Maduvanti style appeared in 1991 Jawaddi. th-cam.com/video/Hu8TtF8QqjY/w-d-xo.html My humble apologies for the strong words but it is the truth and it saddens me.
Bhai sahib Ji gurfateh. Excellent use of tanpura. Rag tukaari is not madhuvanti. It is very independent rag. Bhai avtar Singh Ji sung tukaari not madhuvanti. We should try to use and follow the same Gurmat sangeet tradition that was used by guru Sahib Ji.
36:48 sir you have said it is only in gurbani sangeet but not in indian classical music but you do not sing the original tukhari sung by bhai avtar singh hurcaharan the legends
