    A big factor on how smooth a hardtail feels on the trail is the location of your neutral center of gravity. Imagine your shoulders and two wheels forming a triangle. The more your torso is centered in the triangle the more balanced the bike will feel. If your weight is prioritized to the back of the bike the ride will feel harsh and the bike will feel stiffer. Geometry is only one variable in a long list of variables.

    Having owned the previous scout, the thing that makes the scout work so good is the synergy of all the numbers. They made it a bike that is very good all arounder vs a bike that would lean towards one particular type of discipline.

    Thanks for the video on Scout. One thing I feel that needs to be mentioned is that Nukeproof does sell many of their bikes as frame only models.(Only the Mega Watt and Reactor are not currently available as frame only) The Scout is available at $499.00 so they are INCREDIBLY affordable as a frame only option. So if you already have some great components. You can save a HUGE amount of money buying just the frame only and assembling the bike with your components.

    Agree with everything. I am on my second Scout and been riding the elite spec lately. Such a fun and capable hardtail! Rode this beast out in Western Colorado and Moab and it handled the chunk like a dream! Pleasantly surprised by the specced rhythm fork on the elite spec. Only change I did was the hub 18T to 52T upgrade. Highly recommend this bike!

    Some of the manufacturers list hardtail geometry at sag so it’s more comparable to full suspension geometry. They don’t necessarily tell you they’re doing this and it makes it difficult to compare hardtail geo on paper.

    It isn't galvanic corrosion you really need to worry about if you're screwing Titanium in to Aluminium. You can get galling in the threads that can either cause the bolts to stick in place, or stick part way in and you can't wind them back out. That's mostly why you need a lubricant on the threads. I learnt this the hard way.

I have to say if you want a smooth and stable hardtail thats the bike fo you but a small disclaimer will be the fact that is very long and u will have some trouble with it if you want to jump and do tricks but other than that is the perfect hardtail bike. Personally i encreased it's trail from 140 to 160 and added some new brakes to be able to stop when necesary paired with Michelin Wild enduro tires.

    As someone who’s owned several hardtails I have stuck with my scout,it’s not the most aggressive or the slackest but it puts everything together and has been the best all rounder I’ve ever owned. I have a 150mm fork on mine and found that to be the best compromise for bike parks and tech climbs. I have been tempted by the Honzo ESD but I’m not sure it’ll be any better to ride than my scout unless I’m on ridiculous downhill rough stuff

      Thats cool to hear we have similar experiences. The thing I like most about Hardtails is that the frames are so cheap and hold their value well. So with that said, you should check out the ESD 😂 haha cheers dude

    It’s fantastic bike, and built very well, it does the job well, but honestly I’m just not stoked riding mine. Compared to the ragley mmmbop which was a blast to ride at like half the cost.

    love this video man watched you from early first covid and always have great content keep it up man!!! out of interest is this much difference from this bike to the vitus nucleus vr 2021? as ive currently got that frame with a 10spd microshift upgraded onto it plus maxxis dhf and dhr on the vitus - might change to a nukeproof though whats your thoughts?

    • @EvansMTBSaga
      @EvansMTBSaga  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah the Nucleus has entry level geometry. If you changed the frame you'd notice a gigantic difference. You might run into compatability issues with the Nucleus having a quick release rear end and the Scout having a boost through axle

    If ya want better ride quality/comfort, go with...Ragley. Though, both hardtail makers are awkward to ride if you're a tall rider on technical trails. Companies seem obsessed with super-slack toptubes. The recent most comfortable all-mtn hardtail, I've enjoyed is the GT Zaskar LT.

    It’s always interesting to watch other people review certain bikes. Only one person had a Nukeproof Scout in our group of Hardtails and he couldn’t sell it quick enough. Terrible on steep climbs with the slack seat angle and in real “Chunk” it bounces all over being so short and springy.

    • @EvansMTBSaga
      @EvansMTBSaga  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Haha I'm not watching any other reviewers so I don't create a bias. I just rode that Trek Roscoe today seen at the end of the video and went through some chunk and felt like i got punched in the face, it was that stiff.

    What happens with geo numbers is that some brands don't really show the “real world” numbers, that I lesrned from hardtail party and he has something he made to measure real world geometry and nukeproof was really precise with that so maybe that is
