    Having owned the previous scout, the thing that makes the scout work so good is the synergy of all the numbers. They made it a bike that is very good all arounder vs a bike that would lean towards one particular type of discipline.

    Thanks for the video on Scout. One thing I feel that needs to be mentioned is that Nukeproof does sell many of their bikes as frame only models.(Only the Mega Watt and Reactor are not currently available as frame only) The Scout is available at $499.00 so they are INCREDIBLY affordable as a frame only option. So if you already have some great components. You can save a HUGE amount of money buying just the frame only and assembling the bike with your components.

    Some of the manufacturers list hardtail geometry at sag so it’s more comparable to full suspension geometry. They don’t necessarily tell you they’re doing this and it makes it difficult to compare hardtail geo on paper.

    • @Rawkus919
      @Rawkus919 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      True. And sag, there fore head angle, changes depending on fork travel. And these bikes can run from 120 to 160 forks.

    Love this new search! I myself started on the same quest 9 months ago, and after several fails, I ended up with a Norco Fluid HT, and couldn't be happier! Full disclosure, I have rebuilt almost all of it with my favorite parts, but, the frame is outstanding! It's like a BMX bike for big kids.

    Agree with everything. I am on my second Scout and been riding the elite spec lately. Such a fun and capable hardtail! Rode this beast out in Western Colorado and Moab and it handled the chunk like a dream! Pleasantly surprised by the specced rhythm fork on the elite spec. Only change I did was the hub 18T to 52T upgrade. Highly recommend this bike!

    As someone who’s owned several hardtails I have stuck with my scout,it’s not the most aggressive or the slackest but it puts everything together and has been the best all rounder I’ve ever owned. I have a 150mm fork on mine and found that to be the best compromise for bike parks and tech climbs. I have been tempted by the Honzo ESD but I’m not sure it’ll be any better to ride than my scout unless I’m on ridiculous downhill rough stuff

    It isn't galvanic corrosion you really need to worry about if you're screwing Titanium in to Aluminium. You can get galling in the threads that can either cause the bolts to stick in place, or stick part way in and you can't wind them back out. That's mostly why you need a lubricant on the threads. I learnt this the hard way.

    I would standardize your scoring system to only .5 and whole numbers. I think that’s a bit more fair and consistent. So 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5 etc. my 2 cents. Great vid.

    HTA will impact bar height?
    also, why not buy bikes in as close of reach as possible instead of going based off arbitrary "sizes" like s/m/l?

    • @EvansMTBSaga
      @EvansMTBSaga  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd like to do it like a lay person would and I'm glad I did cuz I would've thought the Ragleys 455 reach was optimal but the Scouts 440 was great

    • @wtfdoicare
      @wtfdoicare ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EvansMTBSaga but then you're reviewing more what bike company makes an arbitrary size that fits you better than buying the bike that fits you and comparing it to other bikes that fit you.

    I have very little experience working on bikes. Would it be a bad idea to order one of these Scouts online and assemble it myself? Are there virtually no instructions? Will it need tuned after assembly?

    • @EvansMTBSaga
      @EvansMTBSaga  ปีที่แล้ว

      Ordering a complete bike online comes almost completely assembled and very easy to put together. Most bikes are tuned before packaged but sometimes you'll have to adjust the shifting. If you're into DIY stuff I'd say give it a go. If there's an issue you can always TH-cam how to fix it

    I was thinking about picking up a nukeproof 290 frame, as I upgrade my stump jumper I can use the parts to build up a buddy bike. I have a rockshox 35 and front wheel sitting on the shelf

      I've never heard of that. Looks like their alloy hardtails are 27.5, but I'll keep them in mind for the Steel Season 2

    Wha size bike did you get and how tall are you? I’m looking at this bike and it recommends a size large. I’m like 5’11 and 3/4

    You can use loctite or grease to prevent galvanic corrosion without buying a specialty product.

    What happens with geo numbers is that some brands don't really show the “real world” numbers, that I lesrned from hardtail party and he has something he made to measure real world geometry and nukeproof was really precise with that so maybe that is

    Downcountry hardtails are just better at everything compared to a true XC and Hardcore HT.
    I’m on a Cannondale Scalpel HT and it’s the perfect compromise for me. XC weight and climbing ability with very progressive geo so it’s a weapon on descents.

    I hope there is a pre determined way to set the scores and it’s not just some numbers he is pulling out of the sky so these comparisons will actually mean something.
