Very well done! One of the best, if not the best I've seen for shirring and making a crop top with sleeves. It's those fabulous sleeves that sets this one apart from others that just have shoulder ties. Excellent!
I was about to make this, i realized we do not have any elastic bobbin. I’m going to get some and then hopefully i will have a top as wonderful as yours!
My problem is figuring out how wide to cut the fabric for the bodice. Most say to multiply the chest measurement times 1.5 which seems to make sense since shirring takes up so much width. What is your opinion if you don't mind me asking?
@@marymagdalene3004 yes that’s right! Shirring requires extra fabric. In the video you can see that I have said to cut 2 rectangles of full bust measurement each that means you are cutting double of what is required. For making top without shirring, we take half bust measurement for both front and back. Here, I have taken full bust measurement for both front and back.
I am planing to make this top with soft knit fabric, and i was wondering do i have to line it? Also, do you use a special foot for shirring or a normal one? Thank you.
Thank you for the tutorial❤.i have stitched a cute top following this tutorial,it looks very cute but its shoulder elastic is loose and neck is also a little deep.how can i rectify that?how to take shoulder to bust length?
@@sainabasamad880 Hey! One of the easiest way to measure your shoulder elastic length is by placing the elastic end on the front armhole/just above the bust and pass it over your shoulder to the back armhole. Mark that length and then minus 2cm from it. That’s your elastic length. Your neckline is deep because of your sleeve elastic. Once you fix that your neckline will sit properly. Hope this helps!
Hey! For the sleeves, measure your bicep and multiply it by 2 or multiply it by 3 or 4cm if you want the sleeves to be more puffy and then add 4cm for seam allowance.
Sorry i didn’t explain myself properly, I mean the parts where on the main bodice you make a mark 12cm across and 7cm down make a diagonal line then cut it off and for the sleeve mark 4cm across and 13 down then cut that bit off. Are these measurements the same for all sizes or would we need to amend them if we are larger than you. Hope I’ve explained this ok. Thanks
Hey! Instead of marking 12cm at 0:45, you can mark at 15cm or more depending on how much you want your shoulder to be covered. Similarly make adjustments on the sleeve. Make sure the sleeve cut aligns with the armhole cut made on the top.
Hey! Any lightweight fabrics can be used such cotton, polyester, chiffon, rayon, voile, muslin, poplin, silk etc. Avoid heavy weight fabrics such as flannel, wool, canvas etc.
Hey! I kept the tension at 8 (out of 9) and used the maximum stitch length available on my machine 3 (out of 3). Different machines work differently so check it out on a scrap fabric before sewing on the main fabric.
How long the elastic you insert into the sleeve head? Thank you!
Hey! Elastic length = (shoulder to upper bust x2)-2cm. Mine is (14*2)-2 = 26cm.
@@BrownGirlDIYs thank you ☺

what is the measurement for the length of the sleeve
