They've always had similar desires, just a difference of opinion about what was possible. Charles imagined a world where everyone could live in peace, while Erik assumed that wasn't possible and so fought for a world where at least mutants could live in peace, even if that meant removing the humans to make it happen. But both of them fought for peace in their own ways.

Jean wasn't mad Scott and Maddie were talking, they were making out on the astral plane for the past month. For a telepath that's like the real thing. And Im not 100% convinced Magneto is dead. Part of me thinks he went underground and Leech then canceled Magneto's power so it looked like he had died. The theory has a couple problems but Im simply not ready to be done with Eric's top tier writing and dialogue. He's the Master of Saltiness lol

    • @Kuhlee84
      @Kuhlee84 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

Exactly this, all of it. Though, I would be hard-pressed to be convinced they stopped at making out. I've seen a lot of reactors being very hard on Jean and giving Scott a pass in this situation. What I think they're forgetting is how deeply confused and lost Jean is feeling, both due to everything that Sinister did to her and because the person who has always been her rock, Scott, is completely absent. He's even pulled back from the psychic rapport they had for more than a decade. Her mind is completely jumbled, and the one person who has been steady from the moment she came to in the med lab was Logan. I'm not saying what she did was ok, but I'm really sure it wasn't worse than the month of intentional choices Scott was making.

@@leonardkim8631 Clearly he is working on it. His frantic "not again" before he gets pulled back indicates he's been working at this for some time. The issue around this will probably be a plotline in the future. At the same time, I don't see everything going back to the way it was. Good writing should have consequences that linger even after time travel mcguffins are applied. I'm not saying don't bring Gambit back tho.

@@Kuhlee84 I would buy that they moved on to other things past kissing. Jean has definitely been violated, and her entire existence called into question. She's got legitimate issues. Jean seems to be displaying a form of dissociative amnesia, where she can recall facts and information but they lack emotional resonance. It's a real thing. I largely understand and forgive Jean for kissing Logan. The two bits of infidelity between Scott and Jean are simply not equivalent.

Thanks Nerdy! I needed your reaction on this one, you reacted a lot like I did, LOL ... This hit me hard being a Gambit/Rogue fan for over 30 years. So many things in this got me... but losing Gambit like that and having him not know Rogue's true choice, tears me up.... I'm just praying episode 7 'Bright Eyes' (what Rogue calls Cable) will give me hope that Cable can help fix this. Kinda like Bishop did with Xavier in the Animated series

Having that last line be Rogue reuse her earlier line but in a *very* different context was a helluva way to end the episode. I think that broke us all.
As it has been all season the writing is just too tired, from Kurt being super quotable to the fight with Scott and Jean and realising why Logan's line "I've only seen one of you, just the one" hit Jean so hard she kissed him... To obviously everything Rogue, Remy, and Erik.
Despite how many times we saw him in the old series, he was only ever Cable from 3999, this is the first time they've acknowledged him as Nathan and what a way to do it ... I'm wondering if he'll be the "solution" to what happened, but then do we lose some of the big character growth moments and still leave everyone in messy places .... I need the next episode, lol.

While I think this timeline will be reversed eventually (Hence both Cable and the Watcher appearing) I respect the story its telling. Which pulls from some its greatest hits.
Also the soap opera team/ relationship drama is peak X Men comics that I remember most.
Magneto's line about being like Moses and carrying the dream but never living in the Promised Land sure was a great setup.

I enjoy how deeply Nerdy feels things.
Stuff gets me emotionally (it’s much easier when it’s fiction rather than my own life) but never as deeply on a physical level and more internally emotional and more muted than that.
Still, I hope he got a good nice hug afterwards.

Leech drains mutant powers. Magneto knew this and protected him regardless.
I know Rogue’s last night is the thing everyone is talking about, but Madeline’s line to Cable is what did it for me. Nathan is the one thing she could be certain about, and he lived. 💔

I think Jean's situation is complicated even more by her memory issue. The show has had her comment on it a few times, even in the scene under the lake with Logan here, but it's not be the direct focus of an episode yet. It seems to me like her memory is jumbled, out of order with some parts she can barely remember and other things entirely missing. Like her comment at not realizing Wolverine was there is taken by a lot of people as just another jab at wolverine but I think it's intended to show that Jean genuine is missing entire elements of her life, even events she recalls are not intact in her mind. So she has only semi-coherent memories of Cyke and her relationship, she knows she loved him but I get the sense she's seeing all those past events as if through a filter rather than as her own personal experience. She's essentially been forcibly disassociated from her own mind and life. I hope it gets focused at some point because that is an incredibly interesting idea to explore.

@Nerdy Daily You Sir are a gem :) any guy that can show emotion when it calls for it is a channel I want to stay subbed to. This show is so deep. Magneto right as he snaps the last image is him at a Nazi concentration death camp in Germany. The German Nazi's sent the Jews to the death camps by train.... their hate filled hearts want to "purge" their country from the Jews (among many) so Magento who survived them as a kid, finds a train to use to battle the sentinel who again thru hate ad ignorance wants to "purge" all mutants. He even told leech to not be afraid in German as he learned it as a kid in those death camps. This is deep deep writing

In the study of epic literature, this is known as aristeia. Each character’s best performance before a fall. So Storm in episode 1, Gambit here. It’s been used at least since the ancient Greeks with the Iliad. So well written
