Hi Ron , The fact that you managed to get few decent shots of fast moving subjects with a twenty year old camera at 750 mm focal length hand held is commendable job in itself.
Older cameras in combination with state of the art software are a great combination. Topaz photo AI for example give soft raw pictures the push they need. Anyway, you still have steady hands to produce great results with a handheld telephoto!
Hi Ron , geat video, glad you had a good time there, its really not easy to get good focus on fast moving targets with a big lens and hand held , they are good shots, your videos are great to watch , your a natural on screen , Regards RonT.
I am glad You decided to make the Video, Ron! Ya know, we are usually our own worst critics! I’m surprised at the shots You were able to get. Did you use AF-C? The two photos @ 11:20 and 11:26; Great Shots!!! I hope to get the 200-500 one day, to go on my D500. House and vehicle repairs seem to get in the way and take precedence. 😯 🙄 😆 Keep em coming Ron, and glad You were able to have an enjoyable Day. Best to You my Friend. 🤝🙏
Thanks Ron for your video with interesting content & comments...I don't have that lens (too expensive for me) but I do enjoy my 70-300mm Nikon lens on my D500... maybe I can save up my pension & buy one... cheers from Australia 🦘🦘😄
No , i don't think the battery grip on D200 has any effect on autofocus. Only the D300 & D700 with added battery grip gives you faster frame rate i.e 8 FPS but it doesn't affect the autofocus performance.
@@matskay1971 It does not. I have all three cameras, and only the d700 will fire faster, from my experience, but it requires a different battery, (En-EL3a?) and different end cap, that fits the larger battery. It also requires the MH-21 battery charger, which is expensive. It ends up making the d700 very heavy, but the battery grip has the sub selector, which I use to move a bout the menu, and view photos, as my D pad on the body is just about shot! Why oh why didn't Nikon put the sub selector on the body, is beyond me. The D300/ 300s are suppose to shoot faster too, but that has NOT been my experience. Google it and it will pull up a plethora of sites that go into issues with getting the D300 to fire faster, and in some cases, not fire as fast?! I don't know? Anyone looking into picking up one of these, You cant go wrong, assuming You find a clean body. Just keep in mind, even as good as these cameras were/ are, they are still older technology, and require a different approach to shooting than today’s super cameras! Stay safe and Happy Shooting!

Thank You George.. I did try AF-C, but AF-S seemed to work best for what I was trying to do.
Great video! I need to replace my old Sigma 120-400, have been looking at this lens, thanks for sharing your experiences!
My pleasure!

Great stuff Ron. Professional sports togs shoot thousands and sell one, you did just fine.
Thank you for watching. So sorry for the late response.
I love the 300 f4! Great lens!
The best! sorry I'm late with this response.
Ron I think you need the battery grip Im pretty sure it speeds up autofocus
Hmmm. Thanks. That's a pretty good tip! I will check into it.

It does not. It only offers versatility of having two batteries in the grip.

@@matskay1971 maybe it's psychological but it feels like g lenses maybe don't focus better but definitely quicker
Is the d200 still relevant?
Yes.
