30STM was one of my favorite bands back when I was 9 (I am a decade older now) and it's sad to see what this band has now become. Their first three albums are great (their debut is their best one!), their fourth was just okay (has some good songs but also some duds), but America was when I cut the cord for my love for them. And oh man, this album I think is worse than America, no good songs at all. The only people I could see loving this albums are those Jared Leto diehards (most middle aged women, I believe) who act like any Jared touched turns into diamond and even think he's indeed Jesus! It's super sad to see one of my favorite bands from my childhood (don't get me wrong, I still love their old stuff!) all of the sudden turn into a hot mess, and 30STM should retire, especially since it's just Jared and his brother now. Also, I can't name of another band that keeps consistently getting worse!

I just saw them live a few weeks ago and was super disappointed in how Shannon was playing most of their newer songs on a drum pad and not on the drum kit. Most artists will at least redeem their worst studio recordings with live performances that have live instrumentation running circles around the original recordings, but that was not the case here. At least they had a diverse set list that made the show memorable.
I have a true story: I went to see Muse when they played in New Orleans. 30STM opened for them (along with PVRIS), and they were… okay. They did try getting me up on stage for the last song, but I said no thanks because I wanted to stay on the rail for Muse. I was at the end of the catwalk, for the record. But I stayed in my spot, and got a good view for an incredible Muse concert! Tomo left the group after that, and their real downward spiral began. So it looks like I saw them right at the last chance I could’ve when they were still marginally decent.
I love your videos. This was absolutely hilarious, especially that stepbrother Jared bit. Way to rip 30 Seconds to Mars a new one in this album review. 😂
I honestly was excited for new music from this band and all of that excitement was for nothing. It just went down the garbage disposal. Dare I Say This: this is thirty seconds to mars' "Mania" album, but it makes THAT album look like an actual accomplishment!
I skimmed through the first handful of songs on the album. It just sounded like Beiber, Post Malone radio hits, and some Imagine Dragons choruses in case you get too bored, but aren't afraid of feeling stupid. I haven't liked them since A Beautiful Lie. I don't know if there's a single person left on this earth that can say this is their favorite band. If there is, they shouldn't be allowed to drive a vehicle
When I first saw the thumbnail, I thought it was Russell Brand doing an "apology album". You know like what Colleen Ballinger did, except it would be a full length album.
This album made me really sad. I was cautiously optimistic about this one, hoping it wouldn’t be worse than America. It’s so sad that Jared and Shannon are so musically and vocally talented and didn’t even try to show that on this album. They hardly tried on America either. If they don’t care anymore, then just end the band.
Crazy that A Beautiful Lie was probably their most mature stuff, after that it was just mid songwriting with some amazing vocal moments, now we don't even get good vocals
It's so sad to see what 30stm has become. A band that made a great debut album and very good 2nd album, went downhill fast. And the most ironic thing is that the sound that they made in 1st album was very futuristic and unique, meanwhile the last two albuns are the equivalent of lame, boring, uninspired and bad.
Thank God, an honest review. This album should be called. It's the end of 30 seconds to Mars, but it's a beautiful day. Pure garbage. But please buy all 10 covers, we have to make money on this somehow.
Was WAITING for this. Knew it was gonna be bad by the name of the album alone. Then I listened to the singles to this album and I couldn’t finish any of the songs
This album just upped the ante from America from being "Imagine Dragons-sounding" by hiring the ACTUAL FRONTMAN of the aforementioned band as one of the producers.
30 Seconds To Mars has lost that title “band” with this album release and AMERICA. Love Lust Faith+Dreams was an exception because it feel authentic in someway. But this new album is just so devoid of human touch, any soul or passion. No real authentic instruments or performances, this whole album with all it’s synthetic beats and Jared’s autotuned vocals sound like it was made via computer. Freaking This Is War was for sure bombastically overproduced but it did have authentic elements of mongolian singing, big booming drums, crowd vocals, piano, guitar, drums, everything. They were definitely experimenting and the results were intriguing. But after so many years have gone by, Jared is not even trying anymore and he’s just riding this out until he calls it quits on his “band”.
*EVEN MAROON 5 WOULD FIND INSULTING* Absolutely!!!! Maroon 5, Imagine Dragons, shoot even AJR would all gang up on this piece of shit of an album!!!! Pains me so much because I still have that soft spot for those first 2 albums this band put out. They’ll never redeem themselves, I’ve come to accept that.
"To say this album has maturity, evolution or flow is to say Donald Trump is a humble athletic scientist". Enjoyed the writing of this review far more than the last two 30STM releases. Hilarious and so quotable!
really says a lot when i say that i consider Stuck of all songs the least offensive.. i was expecting a bad album after America, but jesus i wasn't expecting this bad 💀 funny story: the week after they announced the album (in May i think?), i had a nightmare where it was September 15th and i fell asleep listening to the album, woke up again in the nightmare and had to force myself to listen to it again, only to fall asleep, waking up and listening to it again.....
As do a lot of people in the comments, the first three albums are fantastic to me. Debut, dark prog space rock album, super creative in many ways. A beautiful lie put them on the map, rightfully so, it's a great emo-ish album with excellent rock songs. This is War kind of fused the first two with a conceptual and opera-style album, and this is where I discovered them. I love it and the companion documentary Artifact. These first three sound genuine and passionate. 4th one took what was great out of the previous one and called it a day. 5th sounded dated on arrival and this latest one, yeah I agree with mr ARTV pretty much entirely sadly.
This is coming from someone who was a huge 30stm fan in my early teens, thank god I’ve gotten out of that phase now! But yeah this album sucks, and all the promotion that Jared is doing with all these “trendy tiktokers” is so try hard and cringe. You can’t even call this a band anymore.
I like to think of 30 seconds to mars as a roller coaster. The band starts at a very high with 2 very solid albums but once they get to This is war there goes the drop and it’s all downhill from there. 😂But seriously this album literally makes America sound like a masterpiece in comparison. I can’t even complain about anything because there’s literally nothing to say about the songs it’s literally all AI generated pop music that sounds like it was literally made to be licensed for car commercials or something 😂
The last time I morbed to a thirty seconds to mars album was “this is war” in 2009. They’ve really been downhill since. I didn’t even morb once to this album.
I seen him on instagram talking about how the album’s vinyls come with different posters or whatever, and how you could hang them all up to create this “masterpiece”. They are all pictures of the sky filled with clouds… it’s boring, thinking he’s Taylor Swift (with the making of the clock on the back packaging of her midnight vinyls) or something. I might check out the band’s debut, but Jared is embarrassing himself with his big head.
@@izoilica2516 well I have been a 30stm fan since the beginning so I get the transition.... I also always treated them as my guilty pleasure.... 😂🤣😅 people are crying about how poplike they sound now but I always got that vibe, I don't know but they totally always sounded like radio friendly to me.... lol! But I love their new songs 7:1, never not love you and hail to the victor... but also, I always liked when they did their acoustic sets too. So I really don't understand how some people are so shocked I guess....
@@lilpixieDonna I haven’t really listened to them, but the kill does seem very pop like of a song… even tho it is quite heavy. I even checked out a few other songs after watching this, and yeah~ I have to agree with you. I don’t think I will ever love them, but I definitely get it. I love, love, love Lana Del Rey and I remember ppl hating her COTCC and Blue Banisters albums… and blue banisters is my favorite project by her so far. I definitely could see her going more folk or acoustic like she did from NFR and lust for life… so I get it. Not everybody in a fan base is gonna love every project by their favs
Hadn't listened to anything new from them in years and checked out the single. Me and my wife instantly started laughing at it after 10, seconds and then regretted getting a minute into this shitty song. If he wasn't already a rapey cult leader, I would say they're dead to me. They less than ever existed.
Their first two albums are still great though, the third was a mixed bag. If they'd stayed on that trajectory they could've had some legit staying power. Haven't heard this one at all but you know it's just a mess.
Have been a fan of 30STM for over a decade now but I have to say I'm disappointed with this album, it was hyped up to be an exciting delve into new genres but instead it feels like a lot of songs were not finished, so got mashed together or filled with whooping & constant references to their previous works. Considering they are meant to have spent years writing and had over 200 songs to pick from and this is the best 11!? I feel bad to say this as a fan cos I was looking forward to the release and can support a band switching between genres if the songs stand alone as a good piece of art, at highest I would say its a 2.5 out of 5 for me. Enjoyed your review, some very funny parody moments :D .
IMO this is really bad, but not the absolute worst album of the year (6ix9ine wins that award). It's definitely an easy contender for the worst rock album of the year though.
He no longer sings so high, has no desire to spend huge amounts of money for a real band and in his arrogance only does what he wants. Nice and simple, cheap and is enough for the new target group. The Magenta gig was a cheek. But even 10 years ago he hardly sang himself at the gigs I visited. The paying audience can take over. Really sad.
I have slightly mixed opinions on this one. It didn't annoy me as much as America did, but I have to firmly have my pop music head on to listen to it. It's nice for something in the background, but it's really sad that they've lost their edge. I'm gutted that the band I loved so much is never coming back.
Besides Get Up Kid being somewhat tolerable, I thought this album sucks and blows. It’s nice to see another album joining Simple Plan in the Zero Club.
"In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day." And at some point before all of that happened, Thirty Seconds To Mars were a respectable band.
From time to time I watch from a distance what this band is doing. It's interesting how much lower the quality bar can fall. But it all started well. Even sang along with thousands of other people at a concert about 10 years ago
This album makes me want to listen to A Beautiful Lie or self-titled again, just to savour how everything sounded like there was some heart and soul put into the album, they actually tried. Whereas in everything past LLF&D, it slowly seems like they're half-baking it, really overusing the EDM beats and Jared's vocals are the worst that they've ever been on an album, only narrowly competing with how bad they've gotten in a live setting in recent years, I went to see them on their Monolith tour back in 2018 -- I don't know what the hell was wrong with his voice, he was horrendously off key and flat on most notes.
I saw them live in a small club, probably back in ‘04, I think. I know A Beautiful Lie wasn’t released yet. They only performed 2 songs that would be on A Beautiful Lie. They weren’t the headliner…they were the opener. They were awesome. No ego, no production. Just a rock band playing a show. Now I wouldn’t go see them if I had free tickets. Their self titled debut was a masterpiece. I wore that album out when it was released. A Beautiful Lie and This is War were different, but still pretty good. Everything after that, I had zero interest in. I’m all about change, and I’m not against switching genres. But I felt Jared’s ego got so inflated, they didn’t put any effort or feeling into the music. His celebrity sold the music instead of the music selling the music. You said it perfectly. It’s as if humans stopped making the music and just used A.I. Again, I’m not bothered by them not making the same album that they did 20 years ago (but in a way, I kind wish they did). I’m against not putting effort and feeling into it, knowing you’re so famous, it’ll sell anyway. That day I saw them as an opening act, twenty some years ago, in a small club was probably one of the best shows I’ve seen. No ego. No major production. Just a rock band getting up on stage with their instruments playing a show. Now it’s not even a band. It’s just both Leto brothers’ inflated ego on stage, with backing tracks. No thanks.
Their first three albums were excellent. Loved the raw feel of album 1, the 2nd was a triumph in sound and personality, and the 3rd played out like a rock opera of sorts. Everything after has been utter, utter, dross. I can’t even get myself to listen to this new one.
Incredible review dude! You’ve really upped the ante with the production and editing! I love this, makes your content more idiosyncratic- keep it up ! 👍👍
Simply from the highlight reel of the album you offered, I implore you to stop listening to this 🙏. No man can endure a half a dozen listens without experiencing potentially life-altering ramifications. Listening to this, I feel it would be impossible to convince someone unfamiliar with the band that they once produced at least one surprisingly well-written album in the 2000s.
Dude that's a dope Arizona Tea bucket hat!!! Did you catch that interview with Jared recently? He said Chino recorded a song with the group 10 years ago and he forgot about it WTF!?! I'd rather listen to that for sure! 💯
I did like 3STM but then got to see them in what I think was 2013 at Download. To begin with Jared spoke of something exciting coming up. Both myself and others around me expected a new song or a guest appearance………What we got was what seemed like at least 20 minutes of announcing future gig dates. That was the exact moment they lost me.

the scream at 4:50 was actually legit
I love how the most positive thing Jon could say about a song on this album is just “it has some tempo” lol
I honestly was excited for new music from this band and all of that excitement was for nothing. It just went down the garbage disposal.
Dare I Say This: this is thirty seconds to mars' "Mania" album, but it makes THAT album look like an actual accomplishment!
Mania actually has good moments.
Holy shit! I didn't finish the review before I commented. I didn't know he was gonna bring up imagine dragons and post malone. I'm fuggin dead 😂
RIP 30STM before Solon, Matt, and Tomo left. You will be missed
Could not stand this album. If AMERICA is .5 stars, this is a ZERO
30 Seconds of Mars is now basically Jared Leto's solo project. The band should be disbanded instead of going down like this
30STM - The Jared Leto Experience
Maroon 5 - The Adam Levine Experience
OneRepublic - The Ryan Tedder Experience
Honestly if you ask me, they should've become a touring band after This Is War and not released any new material or disbanded as you said.
All i could hear where electronic fake drums and no guitar in what i could stomach so yeah.
yeah, even Shannon doesn't appear to be on the newer stuff since it's all drum machines
The first song sample sounds like something Muse would do these days
Lmao, no
When I first saw the thumbnail, I thought it was Russell Brand doing an "apology album". You know like what Colleen Ballinger did, except it would be a full length album.
It AMAZES me that this is the same band that made A Beautiful Lie and the self-titled album. They've fallen so far due to Jared's ego.
“Morbiusly curious” 💀
Steven Tyler exhausted the trope of referencing your own song titles and lyrics something like 30 years ago, so...yeah...
I think it's too much of a cash cow although it will be changing as they are losing more and more fans
Corey Feldman played at 33rpm on VH1
Jared Leto’s performance as Harry Goldfarb in Requiem For A Dream is the best thing he’s ever done along with the album: ‘A Beautiful Lie.’
But please buy all 10 covers, we have to make money on this somehow.
i love when morbius morbed this album into existence, one of the moments of music right here
'band that always sucked makes new album... that sucks..'
I didn't even BOTHER listening to save myself the trouble, lol XD
Was WAITING for this. Knew it was gonna be bad by the name of the album alone. Then I listened to the singles to this album and I couldn’t finish any of the songs
This is so goddamn funny. On another note, I find it beyond hard to believe that this album isn’t AI generated
"even maroon 5 would find insulting" oh god i wonder what it sounds like
This album just upped the ante from America from being "Imagine Dragons-sounding" by hiring the ACTUAL FRONTMAN of the aforementioned band as one of the producers.
Havnt listened to 30 Seconds since This Is War. What the fuck happened to this band lol.
*EVEN MAROON 5 WOULD FIND INSULTING*
Absolutely!!!! Maroon 5, Imagine Dragons, shoot even AJR would all gang up on this piece of shit of an album!!!!
Pains me so much because I still have that soft spot for those first 2 albums this band put out. They’ll never redeem themselves, I’ve come to accept that.
Half a dozen listens? Man, I feel bad for you lol I was a die hard fan in the early days but I cannot get through 1 song on this new project
Maroon 5 had hooks
Imagine Dragons had rhythm
Panic at the Disco had bombast
30 Seconds to Mars has freakin' Morbius
"To say this album has maturity, evolution or flow is to say Donald Trump is a humble athletic scientist".
Enjoyed the writing of this review far more than the last two 30STM releases. Hilarious and so quotable!
Would you rather listen to this or 6ix9ine’s debut mixtape: ‘Day69?’
really says a lot when i say that i consider Stuck of all songs the least offensive.. i was expecting a bad album after America, but jesus i wasn't expecting this bad 💀
funny story: the week after they announced the album (in May i think?), i had a nightmare where it was September 15th and i fell asleep listening to the album, woke up again in the nightmare and had to force myself to listen to it again, only to fall asleep, waking up and listening to it again.....
That sounds like a fucked up Black Mirror episode
one that Jared Leto would star in perhaps 🤔
@@artvjon don't give him any ideas! 😭
It just proves that Tomo was very important to their early sound.
I really want to see a channel of what your neighbours see when you do skits in the yard. ❤
lmao, the older woman living next door is always eyeing us out the window
There is no longer 30 Seconds to Mars, it's just Jared Leto's solo career 🥴🤢
His brother is there too
Alternative Title: ‘Jon from ARTV hating on ‘30 Seconds To Mars’ for ten minutes and twenty one seconds straight.
I mean I have them lol
@@lilpixieDonna , why??? 😭
Jared calls back to A beautiful Lie on this album when he already did that on End of All Days.
You really can't play that card more than once.
Also notice the repeat of the whole "end of the world" theme there too...
Hadn't listened to anything new from them in years and checked out the single. Me and my wife instantly started laughing at it after 10, seconds and then regretted getting a minute into this shitty song. If he wasn't already a rapey cult leader, I would say they're dead to me. They less than ever existed.
This is a hilarious review! Keep up the great work 😂
Their first two albums are still great though, the third was a mixed bag. If they'd stayed on that trajectory they could've had some legit staying power. Haven't heard this one at all but you know it's just a mess.
I listened to it once and it was bad. I listened again and it was somehow worse
Can't believe I'm saying this but, Dan Reynolds is better than this
Have been a fan of 30STM for over a decade now but I have to say I'm disappointed with this album, it was hyped up to be an exciting delve into new genres but instead it feels like a lot of songs were not finished, so got mashed together or filled with whooping & constant references to their previous works.
And the evening and the morning were the first day."
And at some point before all of that happened, Thirty Seconds To Mars were a respectable band.
No thanks.
It's sad because the band's first three albums were really good.
Their first three albums were excellent. Loved the raw feel of album 1, the 2nd was a triumph in sound and personality, and the 3rd played out like a rock opera of sorts. Everything after has been utter, utter, dross. I can’t even get myself to listen to this new one.
That's too bad 7:1 is like a full circle from their self titled... Capricorn and never not love you is just beautiful. Oh well I guess.
listened to the best rated song, and it was horrible
That Jared keto impersonation was scary good
this album gonna make me morb
