I do not agree ...our beloved joerg has fallen into the Hollywood trap . No the spike will get you killed trying to get it out of a zombie head and the cord wrap would only trap the blood and mess to rot and stink increasing your chances of getting a sever infection from the mass of bacteria in the cord wrap your carrying everywhere and injuries happen regularly in the show and likely in real life

hmmn , serious , you are talking a geo stationary satelite, with selectable ,mass clouds ,of , hot hail , ice spears ,or just redhot fire arrows ,possibly auto self reloading .
Dude this thing is freakin sweet. You should honestly be in a movie. Maybe as the weapons expert who makes apocalypse weapons in exchange for supplies or something. Or maybe at least a cameo in a videogame. That would also be pretty rad.
My mind immediately went to "what about the string?" but you got that covered in the simplest way possible. Even if you couldn't find yarn you would have plenty of fabric to unravel, enough to last a lifetime. Finally, a "claw stock" that is actually indispensable to the overall design instead of being there for looks. Nobody but you could have done it, Joerg. It perfectly fits the Apocalyptic look.
Looks great! Perhaps the spike should have a crossguard to keep the zombies at bay once they are impaled. Also that would prevent the spike from getting too deep imbedded and stuck.
I had the same thought. Zombies are the kind of thing that would absolutely run themselves up the spear to bite you if they could. If mounted right, it might also give a bit of incidental protection to the limbs of the bow.
Let me show you it's features is back! Thank goodness, I need that in my life.. what a bad-ass crossbow you've made! Glad you're feeling better, Joerg.
The "claw" Joerg can also be used to say hold a zombie in place for your team mate to stab. like a crook stick for shepherds...This is a perfect zombie killer!!
He also has a magazine system for a BOW. Called the "Instant Legolas", you should check it out, it is pretty incredible. Many other channels have worked with Jeorg and made other videos about his inventions, Todd's Workshop even did a detailed build and evaluation of the instant Legolas using only medieval materials and construction techniques to see if it would have been possible (it was)
I remember when you first started the crude wooden models. Finally, a perfected manufactured model and you still make improvements. Way to go, Joerg!!!
Things to add off the top of my head: - A place to store more arrows/magazines besides the 18 rounds - arrow alternatives that will fit in the magazine - easier ways to make the weapon single shot in a pinch (field strip) - make it as lightweight as possible because it’s most likely heavier than a normal adder, and when patrolling you do not want to get tired quicker because of wielding a heavy weapon. Every gram counts.
Your imagination is great. You impress me with all the ways that you come up with launching projectiles down range that do not require smokeless powder, a primer, lead, and a barrel. That crossbow needs to be in the movies.
So good! The wear out and paracord fits perfect to apocalyptic style. Also love the hook deactivation feature. Badass crosbow. I remember your old dowdwards bonecrusher spike : D The new is even better
Very well thought out modifications! Even the spike seems well planned, mounted robustly with a taper that makes it easy for penetration yet thick enough to withstand manipulation if it gets stuck.
Nice, I'd like to see how your wooden sights compared to the original reddot. Even just from sitting. It would also be pretty funny if the front spike could flip down to use as a monopod
Joerg you are an absolute genius and I simply marvel at your incredible designs and your engineering skills. Thank you for these amazing adventures you share with us. Take care and God Bless. 💝
Hello there Jörg! Would it make sense to extend the charging handle further in this set up? I think that sholder rest really is a great idea, maybe you could even consider introducing it to the normal adder!
Joerg looks like he already barely reaches the full cocking point of the lever, making the lever longer would indeed put it out of anybody's reach if a giant like Joerg is at his limits with the normal length. There might be options to put an additional 90° bend at the end helping with full extension, but that would cost time and might end up finicky with needing to go past the body/shaft of the xbow...
Something else people tend to forget with this subject is that a compound crossbow is a funking nightmare to replace the string on without special equipment so if it breaks when you're out you're done. A recurve limb you can often span by hand in a minute or two assuming you're in possession of a replacement string.
Love the Harpoon Spike on the front I found them very necessary for when the undead decide to get up close n personal 😏 And if all else fails just swing the bloody thing 😁👏 Cheers🙏👍
Jeorg that is awesome I know what I want for my birthday Christmas present. You did ask for any improvements. I saw one flaw, when you use the spike you should not have to use your hand to pull it off. You're dealing with zombies you don't want to get infected or bitten. This will probably drive you nuts. Could you put some kind of piston around the spike so when you caulk the lever it pushes out removing any zombie skulls off the spike simultaneously caulking the weapon.
I like your crossbow concept it allows the user options that a standard crossbow does not have. Even though the spike may not be as optimal like a spear, but it does give you the option when necessary when the zombies get a little close. I Never liked the bow they choose for that TV show he has limited ammo and it appears to be not as convenient to reset for the next shot. I think you should talk to the manufacturer about your modifications and see if they can make a model with your modifications. Your modifications would be a good thing even if you never see a zombie.
I hope you are feeling better soon. Your designs and modifications are well thought out and practical. I'm saving up for an Adder. Congratulations on being monetized again.
The build is amazing 🤩. I love everything about it and the idea of having parts re-make-able. The wishbone stock could also be made into a slingshot 🤯🥰🤣. Thanks for all the Wunderbar videos.
You can also use that spike to stick your bow into the ground (when resting or something). And when horde of zombies are approaching, it's easy to pick it up and trigger and handle are immediately at your grasp.
Thank you for these ideas. It looks great. The materials are replaceable and should be available in a SHTF situation. The bolt capacity is great and the spike very functional in a zombie apocalypse. Any plans available on how to make it?
Daryl Dixon are paying attention to this as this might save your life and surprised the studio that makes the walking dead series does not hire Jeorge as his designs are brilliant
Amazing as always. The are are 2 thoughts for improvement that come to mind: 1. Having blood groves in the spike. 2. Storage compartment in the stock, containing extra bolt tips and replacement bowstring. What do you think?
Blood grooves may be great, so it is not just effective against zombies, but possible bandits too (zombies probably don't bleed much). Storage compartment, I think maybe it's easier to have a few magazines in a quiver or backpack?
My only suggestion is your spike bayonet profile. As a person who has made his own projectiles I discovered (as you did as well) that a conical tip is harder to penetrat with. An angular tip(a pyramid instead of a cone) pierces far easier. An awesome weapon for sure either way.
Absolutely badass! Looks like a prop straight from MadMax. All of a sudden Daryl's xbow seems so out of place ;) You should sell this version, I bet there will be demand :) One idea tho, the spike could be fold/retractable or as an attachemet so the whole thing can be shortened.
There is a balanced between functionality and durability. When it's foldable/retractable, then it's definitely not as durable or as solid. I would think people will value durability more in a post-apocalyptic settings.
Looks great! But I would replace all the wooden parts for aluminum parts, especially the spiky shoulder stock so you also can swing it backwards. Just in case someone sneaks behind you 😄
That unit can double duty in The Walking Dead...and...Mad Max. It's a thing of pure, lethal, beauty. Next up...an Adder that shoots poisonous snakes as well as bolts. Bravo, Joerg.
Always very refreshing, when Joerg speaks of the zombie apocalyptic, he means our politicians who run around blindly and how Mrs. Baerbock, as a so-called avowed flight opponent enjoys flying in first class as foreign minister very well, na Anna, you radiate, as if you had caught a virus. Above the clouds ☁ can be so beautiful....
Other than 2 lines of metal from front to back on the sides, so the brace and front spike are connected, meaning the middle part isn't taking the punch, it looks awesome.
It seems this is the most practical and effective crossbow invented to date. The only thing that makes it inferior to a firearm is the lack of semi or full auto firing. I love the Jezail style stock, the taper on the spike is great, its blunt enough to not get stuck but sharp enough to kill if driven into the skull. I like the idea of the downward spike because it could double as a monopod when driven into a log or branch. The cord wrapped part of the stock would have to be very strong and I'd worry about the joint between the adder and the new stock. Your invention of the double stack bolt magazine is genius.
One big problem with the Sting seems to be the "pulling out". Also in the Movies, this is how they often lose their knives and tools - because they are stuck in zombies. What about some kind of support on the upper moving part of the adder, that helps pulling out the Sting while using the reloading-function? If you would have to use the Sting in between some shots because of an instant-zombie from anywhere, you're completely staying in the flow. Adda feature!
I feel like I'm in a video game where I get to periodically upgrade my weapons. Every now and then I check back at the shop and see if there are upgrades available. Whaddya know! New crossbow for sale! Repeating Adder V4! Cool! Attack Power: 35 -> 38 Defense: 10 -> 20 Shots per Mag: 7 -> 18 Seriously, that little knot at the end of the grip was super impressive. My mind was blown.
Hypothetical iterative improvements (this is not safety advice): - Make the safety entirely manual, so it doesn't auto-engage on cocking. - Move the wrapped handle of the cocking arm down to where you're holding it when you cock it. - File down the catch on the cocking handle lock, so that it functions as a spring-loaded detent, which holds it in place, but you can move the cocking handle just by applying a firm force to it. (basically file it down to a small ramped 'bump' instead of a catch-hook). - use metal for the sights, so they are thinner, and don't obstruct your field of view so much. - Oh, and add protective blades (not the sharp kind) to the sides of the front & rear sight to protect the sights (and their adjustment) from fall damage. And a last idea which would take a major re-design to do... if the handle for the trigger hand was moved forward several inches (a longer 'length of pull' in firearms terminology, not bow terminology), it would help stabilize the crossbow against the shoulder while the other hand is cocking it.
PS: Glad your leg is feeling better. It must be pretty severe if it bothered you. I know you like to just keep working and not bother pulling broken shards of drill bit out of your bleeding hand until you're finished with what you're doing ;)
That's a badass looking Adder. I think I would add curved blades in front of the bow limbs, where the first bolt is. If two human enemies were coming at me close range from the side and behind, I could spin around, catching the side enemy in the throat with the side blade then get the enemy at my back, which I am now facing, with the pike or an arrow. Also, if someone swings a machete at you, you could block it with the blade.
My first tought was "stick a bayonet on it" and I wasn't disappointed at all. A folding spike would be nice when you have to be in cramped spaces, but then again, it wouldn't be nearly as sturdy. The spike you made could last ages. Good job!
It's really awesome Jörg, as are all your creations! I've always loved the zombie trope and completely agree that your crossbow creation would be a natural evolution of an adder and the perfect weapon in the apocalypse...particularly with the spike addition. Thanks for always providing such great content and I really like your TV show, Backyard Ballistics as well.
One thing this "apocalypse adder" needs is a attachment to carry it on your bag you need to put it away and interact without it falling of your shoulders and without piercing your own leg with it
Absolutely love your vids Joerg, the level of understanding and expertise you have makes you essential for any film set. Come on Hollywood give Joerg a call !
That downward spike in your diagram sketch is perfect as a stopper like the lugs/wings you see in boar spears to keep your targets at bay away from you and easier to pull out from your stabbed target. It's like a short spear/warpick (optional idea: add 2 shorter 2" side spikes to act as mini trident/guard in case you missed the target) Personally I'd make the spearhead tip about 8" long since it's long enough to fully penetrate a human brain from a frontal stab. And about 5" long on the warpick spike as you don't want a hook too long to easily get tangled and stuck from your environment yet long enough to penetrate more than half of the brain from a side/top attack.
LOVE this take on what Darryl SHOULD be weilding! Also, I get really nostalgic for the heyday of the Zombie Squad message boards when you talk apocalyptic weaponry, Jorge! ZS:026 RIP Rich Inaker
To make this really handy that lever for re-tensioning should be closer to your body, so a system of levers could maybe improve that
3 ปีที่แล้ว
I'd make two changes to this formidable weapon: 1) shorten the spike: long as it is it would be prone to getting stuck in the heads or between the ribs of the opponents; 2) revert to the regular shaped, but strengthened stock, perhaps made of light metal: I'm guess the claw would act like a hook and constantly catch things while moving around. But more importantly, regular stock could function as a blunt weapon without a big risk of breaking the tapering claws.
Every time I see Joerg in his new "gear" I think he's setting on a new side business opportunity for custom shoes for people in the same predicament as he's in. Thanks for the videos Joerg, get well soon.
As always an excellent piece of kit, last time I went hunting with my Crossbow, I have to travel because it's not legal in the UK, I set mine up like my old service rifle but attached a small knife for dispatching game, that was 2 torches, 1 on the switch & 1 on a remote lead, a laser in case I can't get it up to my shoulder for any reason & high rise stands for my Telescopic sight so I could have my "Iron sights" underneath, I thought I'd forgotten to fasten my fly the way people were looking at me, all those I was with were supposed to be "Seasoned Hunters" but their setups were all pretty basic, I think your improvements might be a little more than some can get their heads around, me, I think I'll be looking into building one. Many thanks.

Everything just gets better and better with Joerg.
I love how much faster this is than the normal
actually is what makes it so much better
I love the incremental improvements. Well done!!
I knew that there would be a bayonet, but once again Joerg took it to the next level. Spike. Perfect.
Genius , And I like the way you make your movies , always laughing , but super deathly for the Zombies . Greetings the Netherlands .
Watching you heal is inspiring, muscle santa.
Merry Christmas!
My first tought was "stick a bayonet on it" and I wasn't disappointed at all. A folding spike would be nice when you have to be in cramped spaces, but then again, it wouldn't be nearly as sturdy. The spike you made could last ages. Good job!
The man never quits. I love it.
You're totaly crazy and I love it! I've a children soul too, ah ah ah. all your creations are brilliant and I bought an Adder 1 year ago.
It's really awesome Jörg, as are all your creations! I've always loved the zombie trope and completely agree that your crossbow creation would be a natural evolution of an adder and the perfect weapon in the apocalypse...particularly with the spike addition. Thanks for always providing such great content and I really like your TV show, Backyard Ballistics as well.
that is AWESOME
Excellent modification project Joerg
Excellent video and superb modification! Thanks!
Absolutely outstanding apocalypse crossbow! Well done!
One thing this "apocalypse adder" needs is a attachment to carry it on your bag
you need to put it away and interact without it falling of your shoulders and without piercing your own leg with it
Absolutely love your vids Joerg, the level of understanding and expertise you have makes you essential for any film set. Come on Hollywood give Joerg a call !
Wow, Joerg is always coming up with cool new tweaks and mods. Amazing.
We all know instant Legolas would be an S tier apocalyptic weapon
That downward spike in your diagram sketch is perfect as a stopper like the lugs/wings you see in boar spears to keep your targets at bay away from you and easier to pull out from your stabbed target.
It's like a short spear/warpick (optional idea: add 2 shorter 2" side spikes to act as mini trident/guard in case you missed the target)
Personally I'd make the spearhead tip about 8" long since it's long enough to fully penetrate a human brain from a frontal stab. And about 5" long on the warpick spike as you don't want a hook too long to easily get tangled and stuck from your environment yet long enough to penetrate more than half of the brain from a side/top attack.
Let me show you it’s …..FEATURES! 😅 I look forward to it every single time! Love it. Never gets old 💪🏻
With the exception of the spike, I think all these features should be added to the commercial product, or at minimum be options. Awesome video.
LOVE this take on what Darryl SHOULD be weilding! Also, I get really nostalgic for the heyday of the Zombie Squad message boards when you talk apocalyptic weaponry, Jorge! ZS:026 RIP Rich Inaker
Not only is it efficient, but it looks badass as well.
To make this really handy that lever for re-tensioning should be closer to your body, so a system of levers could maybe improve that
I'd make two changes to this formidable weapon: 1) shorten the spike: long as it is it would be prone to getting stuck in the heads or between the ribs of the opponents; 2) revert to the regular shaped, but strengthened stock, perhaps made of light metal: I'm guess the claw would act like a hook and constantly catch things while moving around. But more importantly, regular stock could function as a blunt weapon without a big risk of breaking the tapering claws.
Your right, you need a magazine for fighting zombies and a lever. Love your modifications! Make them! People will buy it!
Absolutely awesome... it's a shame movies don't think about what they are doing
Wow! I'd love to see them adopt this weapon for a new character in the show!
Man I haven't seen you in some time . Its good to see that you're still happy as hell !! More power to you buddy : )
I,am glad you are getting better .
