  • What a story and recovery of this Sunk 14 Nautica with a Yamaha 50Hp Outboard Engine. This engine was under water 4 days in a canal in Fort Lauderdale. The owner of the boat said if you want you can have it. The owner is a subscriber to my channel and new i could get it out of there. After doing the recovery which is in a separate video I called Danny from K&J Marine and he told me to bring the sunk Yamaha Outboard to his shop.
Danny is always up for the challenge and his exact words were "She's Gonna Run " but not to fast Danny this engine is on life support .
K&J Marine can be contacted locally at 305 600-7642

And now you're an expert on mechanics and their motivation? Obviously, you're not a mechanic! So do us a favor and stop trying to act like one or talk like one. You might get more likes if you just quit the chatter. As a mechanic and a former boat owner. I wanted to watch the video just out of curiosity. Your chatter made it unpalatable. It adds nothing to the site! Wait for it, she's going to start, blah blah blah shut the f--k up!

A couple of observations about Danny.
1- He’s not afraid to get in there and get his hands greasy, but also keeps a nice clean shop.
2- He knows his way around a marine engine, and all its accessories.
3- He actually uses WD40 for what it’s intended (Water Displacement, formula 40)
And to speak to their conversation about failure vs success, “the only person that never makes mistakes is the person that never tries anything”

I've made good experience soaking electronics in destilled water first for a while before treating with WD40 or similar stuff. The biggest problem is not the water but the salt. But I'm impessed the Yamaha ECU housing can be opened. Didn't know that from the Evinrudes.

I 100% agree with you guys Alfred ! In order to operate a boat, one must go through a training course and become certified. If I'm not mistaken you do on anything more than a 100ft long anyway. Just watching some of the boaters at Haulover Inlet, is proof many do not know how to drive a boat. Let alone how to work the throttle and trim ! Keep Showing us the Chit bro , cause it never gets old !! Another Awesome Save !!! Hat's off to Danny, he is a Monster Mechanic !!!

Danny is marvelous at what he does bro, as a V.P. / elec engr that does maintenance / repair on electronic manufacturing equipment (for 40 yrs), salt water on a computer / printed circuit board as power is applied to it could damage the sensitive components on that board. Some good luck here to get it started and running, but like a submerged cell phone, problems may arise some weeks/months after. Please look into replacing that computer board asap. Otherwise, it could fail again out in the water. Don't "wait for it" lol. Only trying to help here. Excellent video Al. Thank you both guys. Nice shop Danny! I could not go to sleep until the end. For safety, please wear safety glasses.

Speaking as an qualified motor mechanic of many years experience, I know that there is nothing more depressing than a noisy smart Alec telling me that 'all you need is fuel, a spark, and a piston to make it go'. Then after some diagnostics, time, and method on my part, they claim the credit and wonder why I took so long. And they've always got a massive mouth and voice box.
