  • The day has finally come where Project CB9 gets a set of custom made BC Racing Extreme Low coilovers. I'll go over the old suspension removal process along with the steps needed to install the new coilovers on a 1990-1997 Honda Accord (CB7, CB9, CD7, CD9). Its time more more low and better handling for Project CB9 build!

    Best video on coilovers for an accord ever. my grandma gave me her 96 lx with 16,000 miles on it like 7 years ago. shes got 110k now but shes all oem except a few things. I switched out the knuckles for 98 acura rotor over hub design and now i want coilovers and new tie rods bushings control arms etc to get rid of the nasty body roll.

    Did you use anti-seize putting that rear lower strut bolt back in? I'd do that on all exterior bolts, but the rear suspension bolts in particular seem to be super susceptible to rust. Both my toe bolts and my lower strut bolts had to be cut off of my car because they were seized into the bushing sleeves. I was so jealous to see yours zipped right out when taking out the stock struts. Can't wait to see this on the ground with the wheels!

      No but guess it wouldn’t hurt to do so. Fortunately this is a FL car so rust hasn’t been an issue for me.

    Doing the lords work! I went with the same coilovers, but opted for the regular springs. Also in the process of gathering all the parts to 5 speed swap on my 91 CB7.
    What did you set your dampening to? I set mine halfway between hard/soft for now, but noticed the rear is bouncing a little bit more

      In my experience on the CB7 and my FG4, I would set my rears to hogher dampening than the front. The stiffer the rear is on a fwd, the better for overall handling. I’ve tried it the other way around, I’ve tried front and rear at 16 on a 32 & 33 way adjustable, the car just oversteers.
      So set rear to more damp than the front. And gradually drive and test your car to set it just right.

    How low is the front bro ?

  • @vintagegear5240

    Honda told me that the car is too old and they might not be able to diagnose/ fix my issue. My car leans to the driver side by an inch . What’s your opinion on that? It also made metal riddle noises as I went up slopes. I put air into it and I don’t hear the rattling anymore much but it leans

    • @randomrebuilds
      @randomrebuilds  ปีที่แล้ว

      The driver front side leans more than the passenger front due to the engine weight and placement being heavier towards the drivers side. Coilovers with height adjusted or pre-load adjustment will fix that issue and level the car out with your settings.

      @@randomrebuilds I weigh 250 lbs. what are the odds that my fat is causing the issue? There are times that I guess that I have just noticed it blatantly . Would the coilovers and height adjustment be able to be done to factory spec? Are coilovers a replacement for the spring? So the whole cylinder/vertical rod/ spring /strut , whatever you’d call it would need to be replaced ? Also curious on the likelihood of finding the right sized coilovers if it is possible for an older car

      Coilovers are connected to the lower control arms. They fit no issue.
