I only ever use my shears for chopping green manure and pruning privet. Everything else is selectively pruned.
I watched a lot of garden tidy up videos on TH-cam and it's quite distressing to see all the shrubs in the gardens of very modest properties pruned into balls, dumplings and boxes, like they are some sort of French parterre attached to a stately home. Fair enough for privet or box hedging.
Our city has a "Japanese" garden at the winter gardens. I LOLed so much yet nearly wept when I visited it and all the specimens were all sheared like hedges instead of naturalistically, cloud-pruned or Niwa-Ki. I guess the gardeners in the Parks and Recreation have been so deskilled over the ensuing decades they no longer know how to prune.
Do you find as a gardener that clients expect that and you have to price for such pruning with gas shears to give a competitive quote compared with more naturalistic selective pruning?
Do you promote naturalistic pruning in you marketing to clients?

I've never heard of them until you mentioned them. They look like nice stuff but I'd have to have them in my hands to make a final judgement. I am a Felco nut and go for their stuff first.
