I AM driving the VF8 City Edition that you called "dog crap" for the past 17 months and I still LOVE it! As a matter of fact, my wife got the Standard Edition (improved VF8) in January of this year. So from an actual owner of 2 VF8s, I am laughing at YOU! I have gotten so many compliments on both of our VinFast VF8s that you won't for your Tesla that you have been using as a 'standard'!

As usual, a super detailed appraisal, much appreciated. After watching Francie’s videos about the car, I went and test drove one, and placed a deposit. You guys can be pretty harsh, and I can’t say you are wrong. Where I would take issue is first, the styling. You guys (and every other reviewer) see the styling as bland. Maybe it seems bland compared to cars you review, but to me, it seems understated and classy. I find the Hyundai and Kia EV styling to be awkward, it’s like those cars want to be sure everyone knows they are an EV. I prefer the German EV approach, more mainstream. One thing not mentioned, the taillights on the VinFast are vaguely MustangE like. When I mentioned that to the salesman, he told me “VinFast had that taillight design before the MustangE.” Ok, not quite. By the way, that green color is called “Deep Ocean.” It’s beautiful in person, that’s the color I ordered. It’s my opinion that most of the things you complain about are addressed by the Plus trim I ordered. The seats are different (perforated heated and cooled, both front and rear) a large skylight that fully opens over both seats, an electric rear hatch with hands free (foot wave to open) and a more two toned interior which is more visually appealing. The Plus also has more horsepower, and larger wheels. (And 20 miles less EPA range.) My wife and I own four ICE cars, all between 2009-2016. A Mini, A Camaro, A Buick Enclave, and an Acura MDX. Both of us were super impressed by the VinFast interior. I suppose even a premium SUV like our 8 year old Acura compares poorly to most 2024 models. So basically, I’ll be leasing a VinFast because of the coverage on your channel. I hope to really like it as much as Francie does, and not be disappointed as much in the details as Kyle is.
Believe me, most of VF8 owners in Cali, Canada loves it. Own it and drive it and you can feel it clearly. They are reviewing the very first version of VF8. 2024 VF8 Plus, totally nicer.

Samsung appliances and also LG's appliances are made in Vietnam for years and increasing. And increasingly FoxConn and Luxshare has a huge presence in Vietnam with Apple related products including the watch. Semiconductors are increasingly in Vietnam now. The Vietnam today is not like how people assume to be about war and poverty as being portrayed. Vietnam exports over 365 billion USD last year alone, making it one of Asia's top exporting countries. It's true that their economy is still largely dependent on foreign investment.
Unlike Francie, we have a dealership 11 minutes from our home in Montreal. 1.49% leasing is very rare in Canada. I'm seeing more on the road and understand why, with such low lease payments, someone would choose this.

Yep! That's the real profitability of most cars. Cheap here, cheap there, plastic this, plastic that. Outside trim usually looks like junk after 3-4 years too.
In a way, it's worked out well for Vinfast to get all those initial biased and unfair criticisms (attacks) because it helped them get the needed attention even though negative. In a way, it's backfired, leading some people to start wondering if the criticisms were fair and balanced. Not a perfect car but worst car? Hmmm....I don't think so.... Many Americans' still have a 70/80's perception of Vietnam.

Very good comment. I was once a coach and the staff and I chose to put our team in a better league even though we knew we were going to struggle. We knew the competition would make our team better and we were right. I am very impressed with how Vinfast has taken the criticism of their car and software and made a real effort to fix it. Vinfast's only real mistake was releasing the car too quickly. Go back and look at some articles and videos from when the Model S came out in 2013. Tesla had similar problems at first.
It's called DEEP OCEAN GREEN. Same as mine. My friends call it "British Motor Racing Green", but under bright sunlight it has a more of a sparkle to it. Love it!

Im curious why u wouldn't want plastics ok the lower parts of the doors and dash. That area gets the most kicks and dings and plastic wears the best and is easy to replace or clean.
Vinfast applied the most up to date tech. When reseach more not only about the paint, the body really strong like a "tank" some crashes with other car and even trailer. It is still safe. It is a Volvo level or more, this is not a joke. That is why it is super heavy compare to the others

Those V-A are used to be South Vietnamese, who left their country after Vietnam war 1975 and never stop trying to sabotage the current communist regime in Vietnam. The car having many issue, yes, but they do heard the customers feedback and improved the product in few months. It's more worth to spend ~50k now The VF9 is even more better. Their build quality is decent, the fact that I've seen many car crash in Vietnam and the car that hit the vinfast is almost got destroy, but the vf itself only take damage on the front (or the back). I think it is a fine car a certain price point but not the price point they want to charge for it undercut other ev's and was a cheaper price I think it would sell better they are trying to sell the vehicle at a higher price when you can get a competitors car at the same price and get better features I think if they go and create a low cost ev people will forgive the issues of the vehicle and it will sell better but with how much they want to sell this vehicle for is way too high

The Lyiq's rear seat is WORSE THAN the VF8 - thin bench seat that is hard on your lower back. The part that is right on your lower back is weird. It looks like it belongs on a $20k car, not an $80k luxury car! Go sit in one and see for yourself.

These are made at a former Daewoo/Chevy factory so the build quality is kind of similar to a Buick or other Korean GM product. The staff in Hanoi is mainly Korean management as well as a carryover from GM Korea. Lots of other US auto people working at Vinfast.
That's completely false, all EV models like VF3, VFe34, VF5, VF6, VF7, VF8 and VF9, electric scooter and electric buses are made in the state of the art all robotic and automated car factory in Hai Phong......

Tesla has a kitchen counter, steering wheel, and tablet. Also a musky smell. AWD you pay extra. No HUD unless you spend a load more. Single layer of paint. Panel-gap problems. No Apple Carplay. No Android Auto. Even AutoPilot is worse than VF ADAS unless you pay loads of bucks for the FSD. Base model vs base model, VF Pininfarina design beats Tesla by miles. Spend LOADS more, you can get a Tesla as good as the VF8 Eco.

The trunk’s floor is very stable if you put the foam pieces back in original position and the foam donut secured with provided bolt

The VF8 ECO is $48K, but with the lease deal you can buy the car for $30K. $250 36/10K $20K residual.

These are made at a former Daewoo/Chevy factory so the build quality is kind of similar to a Buick or other Korean GM product. The staff in Hanoi is mainly Korean management as well as a carryover from GM Korea. Lots of other US auto people working at Vinfast.
That's completely false, all EV models like VF3, VFe34, VF5, VF6, VF7, VF8 and VF9, electric scooter and electric buses are made in the state of the art all robotic and automated car factory in Hai Phong......
Only the internal combustion engine cars like VinFast Fadil / rebadged Cheverlot Spark were produced in the GM factory..

If you buy this car over a Tesla then I have a bridge in Brooklyn I'd like to sell you.
Tesla has a kitchen counter, steering wheel, and tablet. Also a musky smell. AWD you pay extra. No HUD unless you spend a load more. Single layer of paint. Panel-gap problems. No Apple Carplay. No Android Auto. Even AutoPilot is worse than VF ADAS unless you pay loads of bucks for the FSD. Base model vs base model, VF Pininfarina design beats Tesla by miles. Spend LOADS more, you can get a Tesla as good as the VF8 Eco.
