      @@thatpickleballguy no problem. The instruction is fluid and doesn’t feel forced. I’ve tried to incorporate your tip of calling shots with doubles partners but no one wants to get bossy with a stranger. Any tips on helping them and myself overcome the shy and awkward factor?

    These are great tips - one additional concept - if you make them run or you hit to their feet (low) - they will have to hit "low to high" and that might mean a pop up for you to attack or speed up point.

    Your videos are great! I am just playing rec PB at my local park, but I try to play with higher rated players. I watch one of your videos and then go out and focus on applying the skills I watched that day. Huge help, totally upping my game! Thanks!

    I used to think down the line is a good service return to easily hit the next volley. I think I have the opposite view now. If you go crosscourt, there is more margin for error to hit it in and deep. You drag the opponent wide. Hopefully you have enough time to get to the net to cover the down the line and hit it into the open court.

    So, in singles does the person returning have more of an advantage than the person serving?

    • @jeffreyblair9013
      @jeffreyblair9013 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, because of the two-bounce rule. The server has to wait for the return to bounce, allowing the returner to get to the net first.

    Can you take a few steps before you make contact with the ball on your serve? Or do you have to be in a set stance?

    • @thatpickleballguy
      @thatpickleballguy  ปีที่แล้ว

      On the serve atleast one foot has to be on the ground and your feet have to be behind the baseline

    If you want a workout. You play as a single against two as doubles. You get two serves just like your opponents. Of course, no cheating, you gotta cover the whole court. If you can beat them, they are probably less than 3.0 and you are probably a 3.5 or better. When players get to a 3.0 or better, they move you around too much. I did this a few times a while ago when my knees were better.

    I didn't fully understand the last tip. What is a drop shot?

    • @thatpickleballguy
      @thatpickleballguy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Basically. Instead of trying to hit a hard shot passed your opponent. Try hitting a softer shot that lands into the kitchen area! Then come up to the net afterward to apply pressure to your opponent!

    Also, how can the non-serving player win the point? Only the serving player wins the point...

    • @thatpickleballguy

      Yep only the player serving can win a point. If the player not serving wins the rally. they take over the serve and now they can score points!
