Saudi Arabia is protected by the sheer fact that if the US tried to topple SA leadership the western world would fall overnight with the disruption to global oil supply.
Europe for one, a population of 550 million people would be standing in breadlines within 14 days.
The oil crisis of the 1970's would be nothing in comparison to it happening today with our increased reliance on oil over the last 50 years.
Every basic essential in the western world relies upon transportation infrastructure running continuously at maximum output.
Oil prices affect every one of those essential product costs also. Hyperinflation would be a factor across Europe. Being the 3rd largest trade bloc on the planet, it would soon affect the globe.
The US purchases 16% of Saudi oil to sell on to the EU.
It could not make up that shortfall from its own US domestic oil production if it disrupted Saudi output.
The disruption would likely cause other producers such as Russia to increase its prices to cash in on the global shortage further destroying the western economy.
59% of Saudi sales are to China. I think China, a nuclear super power might have something to say to the US if it caused such a massive disruption in global oil supply just to change a regime in SA. We are talking a possible nuclear war.
There are some lines the US cannot cross. This is one of them.

There are elements in this segment that are factually incorrect. In 1974, the Saudis needed protection, and they had too many dollars, so they agreed to take those dollars back to the US in investments in exchange for protection. Nothing constrained them from dealing in other currencies! In fact, they've always sold oil in a variety of currencies, and they still are reliant on US protection. The dollar is still dominant because there isn't a real alternative, and it's phenomenally difficult to uproot it. What will likely happen is irresponsible, profligate spending will trash the dollar and an alternative will emerge as the dollar fails, but we aren't quite there yet.
Just as a sidenote- The Saudis US treasury holdings were not reported, secret. oh ya, and 17 of the 21 hijackers, yada yada :)

This is an excellent interview. When Andy Schechtman is in free-flow, it is difficult to interject. I'm delighted this information is gaining such a platform. The interviewer is listening in wide-eyed amazement and bringing this to the masses. If people start to understand and grasp what Schechtman is saying, many other pieces of the global jigsaw of events will also start to make sense and fall into place. We are watching a tectonic shift in the global power structures.
