Sylvestor The short eared cat.

Named Sylvestor after the Israeli name for Christmas and the New Year.( coz he turned up on a Xmas eve)
I once asked why the name Sylvestor for the end of year festivities.The story I was given, was that in Russia at the height of the Jewish pogroms, a bloke with a long white beard and red clothing called Sylvestor, and a bit of an arse 'ole , used to lead pogroms over that period.
Mind you, the guy that told me that story was a dead ringer for Einstein and 9 tenths "rat-legged" on Shabbat vino collapso!
