As a practicing Buddhist myself, this life was completed for me when I attended a speech and blessing by his holiness. He has such a special aura and exudes calmness, intelligence and humour. Long live his holiness. I for one will be praying/meditating for his long life and ultimate reincarnation.

I am not a religious person, but over the years I have heard the lectures of the Dalai Lama and they all had a great influence on me, I learned a lot and some touched my heart. This is a person who is endowed with high spiritual intelligence, wisdom and has a positive attitude despite all the difficulties.
The Dalai Lama institution MUST exist it inspires a lot of people, gives hope and a positive attitude to life. Connecting people and countries.

I am anti religion in general but I really appreciate the Dalai Lamba.Such a humble and rational religious leader is a precious rarity.He doesn't even show any animosity towards the state that exiled him because he is able to see beyond his personal perspective and grasp the broader reality. Meeting him is definitely on my bucket list.
Couldn't agree more, especially the bucket list part! out of all the religions, Buddhism definitely deserves to be the most popular because of the ideology they teach. Peace and the whole karma aspect, the whole world would be a better place if the majority were Buddhist.

The real history is more complicated, the time Dalai lama ruled Tibet, Tibet was as backward as Europe's medieval age with most population slaves of the rulers(monks and rich). Just know that life in Tibet pre-1959 was absolutely terrible. Life expectancy was 35.5 years, 95% of the population were serfs/slaves, and the Dalai Lama had HUMAN SKIN ORNAMENTS!

At the time when Chinese troops Invaded Tibet in 1949,
Tibet was an Free Independent Nation.
In 1949, Tibet had its own Government,
its own Language, its own Currency,
its own Postal System, and its own Legal System
Why does a monk desire political power？Could you give me an reasonable answer please？

Jojo Channel tats not true! I'm a 100% Tibetan. My grandparents have fled the country in 1959 n they are now settled in India. I have heard many stories from them about how beautiful Tibet was and how happy they were wid their lifes. they said they were even rich, owned lots of yaks, chickens, goat/sheeps, hoarse and donkeys. They are also very religious and if his holiness did slavery or tortured his people y would my grandparents even want to continue supporting him?
HG. HOU he was put into tat position by us (Tibetans) but he has now completely retired from politics.
