You can't go wrong with Beach House. Awesome band, awesome people. Heart of Chambers, Zebra, Master of none, Gila, Space song, so so may great songs! Glad you liked it!
Thanks for the great reaction guys. The first time I heard this was about a year ago and it hooked me in immediately but to this day like greg i couldn't define the genre category so im glad chris with the help of wiki we can call it dream pop. I think this kind of music should be played during anger management classes as its a slow wind down song but uplifting at the same time. At ease gentlemen
"I think this kind of music should be played during anger management classes as its a slow wind down song but uplifting at the same time." - Perfectly stated!
This song felt like a gentle breeze, a nice easy listen. Not the sort of thing i would listen to but enjoyed it none the less. Loved the vocals, I’ll give it a thumbs up! Nice request colonel 😉
While we're in this dream pop region, let me recommend you Alexandra Savior. She's some sort of Alex turner's apprentice and he helped her producing the first album. Very underrated artist and her first album in particular is a thing of beauty, try listening to Cupid, Mirage, Bones and Girlie.
This song is pretty middle of the road for Beach House, IMHO, and the album it's from, Bloom, is the only one I can't really get into; although I think I may just be in disagreement with other Beach House fans, because my favorite recent album of theirs is Thank Your Lucky Stars, which has some real stunners on it like "All Your Yeahs," "Elegy to the Void," "Rough Song," and that lounge song soundtracking the dead of midnight, "Somewhere Tonight." To me those represent a more creative effort from this band, and much less easily imitated by other, more generic dream pop bands. When they get the complex, point-counterpoint melodies going, their music just elevates to a whole other level of sublime.
This song's the opener of their album Bloom, and is something of a tone-setter, but that's kind of it. A really lovely listen, but there are a lot of better tracks on that album, even if they all have a similar feel. If you go back to something else on Bloom, I'd say maybe "Lazuli" or "On The Sea" would be better calls. From the rest of their discography, maybe "Silver Soul" , "Drunk in LA", "Somewhere Tonight", "Zebra", "PPP", "Space Song", or "Lemon Glow". But yeah, they're definitely dream pop. Like, if you've ever heard "Everywhere" by Fleetwood Mac, that's the kind of sound that more or less that subgenre was birthed from.

Listen to On the Sea by them. It is from the same album “Bloom” and it is the most beautiful song I’ve ever heard.
Cannot agree more, love this song so transporting.

This is the best piece of shoe gazing music since the Cocteau twins a superb piece of Dream pop
One of my favorite newer bands
Do more Beach house! Maybe Elegy to the void, On the Sea, PPP, Drunk in LA (quite a hypnotic/psychedelic one this one )
"Dream Pop"....formerly known as "Shoe Gazer"?
