Its actually keyless.. You just have to press on the clutch first and then push start. I never put the key in..Saves the silver shine on it and keeps it relatively new.
EPA 26 city and 35 highway. I've owned mine for 8 months now and average 28 miles, 90% city 10% highway. I recently did a road trip from Pittsburgh to Manasquan, New Jersey and got 32 doing 80+ MPH. I'm sure if I slowed down to 65 MPH I would be close to 35 MPG lol
My grandmother has an 08 Clubman with just the regular 1.6 and an automatic. I got to babysit it a few weeks ago and it was so much fun to drive! I want this one its my dream cooper turbo and manual :D
It is a horrible first car. They are extremely unreliable and too quick for a first car. I have one and I love it but I just don't think this is a good teenager car. The base model is a better choice.
My friend has one of these, I couldn't believe how stiff the ride was! Granted, I drive a Volvo 940 every day so it's kinda polar opposites. In my area the roads are terrible; I couldn't stand it and after about 15 minutes of driving it I gave the keys back! The S/C sounded great though (06 model), and it cornered like it was on rails.
Thank you SO much for this video! Getting a '05 gen 1 cooper s here shortly (within the next week I hope) and this was just such a great walk through! I know there's some differences between your '07 gen 2 s and my gen 1...but this video still has me all sorts of pumped to finally be getting a cooper!
I ended up going with a Mk5 Golf GTi, had it three years now and I still love driving it. My friend recently bought a Cooper S (turbo, not supercharged) though and he really likes it. Why do you ask?
How many km on the car? Seems like the clutch is toast, you mentioned how high the pickup is, and if you just listen between gears (8:50) it sounds like the clutch is slipping.
The seats fold down in a 50/50 layout, not 60/40. Considering there are only two seats, how would they do 60/40 anyway? Not to be mean, but do you think before talking?
I did not realize that the main glove box had access to the air conditioning. Not trying to be a dick or anything, but I noticed that many of the Mini reviewers don't show case the 2nd glove box. Yes, if you press on the trim panel between the lower glove box and the upper dash panel there is a 2nd, smaller one. I mainly store my sunglasses and insurance/registration papers there.
The hood is weird on these Minis because for the first gen you open the hood and the headlights came with it but on the second gen there were cut outs for the headlights
it is a federal regulations. you can't have main lights on moving parts. That is why most SUVs today have a 2nd pair of back indicators if they have one on the rear door. Got that from another reviewer
my dad and i both loveee this car! however, my mom thinks its too small so its unsafe. even though my dad is paying for it, we still need my moms approval... how can I convince her this is safe?
Julie Camille it's a peice of shit, don't buy it. why? both manual and auto transmission will failed around 50k miles, power steering pump hard to get to ,for most cases you have to take it to a dealer which cost tons to fix. a big mechanical failer. just ask any mechanic near your area.
my dad just bought one of these for my sister for 800 bucks. its prob a ticking time bomb but i want to see if u can drive it a little but before it breaks. always wanted to test drive a mini cooper
Hi , thank´s , nice review as always . I have the same car 08 and it´s allot different, like in options, like totally loaded , but you pay for that . It´s a blast to use . Mine has the smart key , so some have it and also the clutch it totally different , it cuts off very low to the floor , think when they are so high , they are going out. I love my car , but like you said , the ride is what is tire some at times , specially with the run flat tires .
the previous owner put an aftermarket exhaust... what are the chances that he/she also changed the suspension for sportier performance (thus stiffer ride)?
So you had a Fiat? How is the reliability in that ? I'm looking at a Abarth , but it's so small it scares me , even though I don't need a bigger car. Thanks
Oh okay haha I know what it is to drive a car with a clutch ur not used to. I test drove an Audi A4 about a month ago and the clutch was so different from my car it took me forever to get going and I was grinding gears :S lol great review though Sofyan!
Old comment yes, But i've actually been able to fit two individuals that are both 6'1" and 6'2" and both being over 175lbs. And myself being 6'1" so the seat was decently far back, it's not the most comfortable ride in the world back there, but it's endurable for an hour- two hour drive,
Well for those of you that watch. Subaruwrxfan videos. Well bad news due to money he has to sell his. 2013 Subaru BRZ Limited. So now he wants to look at a 2007 or newer Mini Cooper S!!!
We have a 2007 S. Hitting a bump is like riding a bicycle with flat tires. Hitting a big bump or a buckle in the pavement?? You cringe and grit your teeth. The ride is horrible in the thing. It has nothing to do with feeling/being engaged with the road. It's like the car has no suspension at all. If you're on pavement that is fairly flat with few imperfections, you're okay. But when things get bumpy, you'll want to get rid of the car.
Its actually keyless.. You just have to press on the clutch first and then push start. I never put the key in..Saves the silver shine on it and keeps it relatively new.
Some are some aren’t. I believe it’s a comfort access package.
I own a 2007 mini cooper got it as a surprise grad present from my parents and i love it! Such a fun car to drive^^
yep. I will be getting the new Mini Coupe 2013 as my 2nd car since I only own a car in Sri Lanka but not in Canada.
***** One day we will get Mini Coopers as surprise grad presents. But today is not that day!
kdryden29 :(
is the leg room in the back really "that" bad?
aishma·webs·com Aishma I'm 16 and I'm getting mine tmrw 😁 but the seats in the one I'm getting is orange

"John Cooper Works: a car with 200 hp and the size of your shoe"
My sides are gone.
Dang i dont know why i want this as my first car
I want one for my first car to
You can get ones with about 60,000 miles for around $6,000
epic gaming omg where?!
I highly recommend Mini as a first car. I have a 2011 base model. It's one hell of a car. It never fails to amaze me.
It is a horrible first car. They are extremely unreliable and too quick for a first car.
I have one and I love it but I just don't think this is a good teenager car. The base model is a better choice.
When he said the dashboard looks like Mickey Mouse, I will never unsee it.
the n14 engine is notorious for reliability from what I read online. n12, n16 and n18 are ok.
I still agree with your assessment though. The ride is rough, but I think it's worth it for the handling. Take care.

Love the exhaust note.
Been pondering over this car for weeks, think you may have just sold it to me! Thanks for the review, very helpful.
Mickey Jones Did you get one?
I ended up going with a Mk5 Golf GTi, had it three years now and I still love driving it. My friend recently bought a Cooper S (turbo, not supercharged) though and he really likes it. Why do you ask?
Just wondering bc I'm thinking about buying one soon! Wanted to know how it was/holding up/etc.
Holy worn clutch, Batman.
How many km on the car? Seems like the clutch is toast, you mentioned how high the pickup is, and if you just listen between gears (8:50) it sounds like the clutch is slipping.
tell me the exhaust is loud ten different times, all while using zoom cut on every single scene cut
Yes the S is great! Just so stiff ride. Time to change springs.
I'm just about to buy my first mini. its a cooper s in red with black roof/wheels. cant wait!!
Well this car still looks the same in 2019
Usually 400 miles. It's roughly 13.5 gallons
The seats fold down in a 50/50 layout, not 60/40. Considering there are only two seats, how would they do 60/40 anyway? Not to be mean, but do you think before talking?
that mini sounds a lot like a JCW. I want one so bad

looks like it's been lowered too? modded exhaust and lowered I'd be surprised if it didn't have a remap on it.
Nice review. Just bought myself a Cooper S :-)
Chris Mason How has it been for you?
actually they are suppose to come standard with a aux in 07. its hidden in a cubby hole infront of the stick shift.
greatest filming ever
That exhaust sounds loud, is it? Would have been nice if he would have acknowledged the exhaust note....
my dad and i both loveee this car! however, my mom thinks its too small so its unsafe. even though my dad is paying for it, we still need my moms approval... how can I convince her this is safe?
cool! i wasnt sure where to find its safety ratins
Julie Camille getting mine in a couple weeks, went for a drive in one and it felt very solid though
Airbags up the ying yang and the crash test are proof its passing with flying colors 1 year later probably got a fiesta by now lol
Julie Camille it's a peice of shit, don't buy it. why? both manual and auto transmission will failed around 50k miles, power steering pump hard to get to ,for most cases you have to take it to a dealer which cost tons to fix. a big mechanical failer. just ask any mechanic near your area.
It actually is a smart key, if you get the option...
my dad just bought one of these for my sister for 800 bucks. its prob a ticking time bomb but i want to see if u can drive it a little but before it breaks. always wanted to test drive a mini cooper
I freaking love this car!
Hi , thank´s , nice review as always .

I love my car , but like you said , the ride is what is tire some at times , specially with the run flat tires .
Mine is a smart key access keyless entry etc so it does support it
Naw, it sounded like that bc I failed while I was shifting and letting the clutch out, I just wasn't used to it yet lol
soon gonna buy it yeaaaaaaaaaaaa i swear im so excited
Try avoiding the ones that are made from 2007-2010 since they're notoriously known for reliability issues.
Gelo Reyes example of said issues?
@@tarsan894 Timing chain tensioner, thermostat housing, high pressure fuel pump...to name a few.
@@vkotis good thing I went with an NA8 instead
@@tarsan894 Nice! Any plans of boosting it?
@@vkotis only snow tires for now. Waiting for winter
the previous owner put an aftermarket exhaust... what are the chances that he/she also changed the suspension for sportier performance (thus stiffer ride)?
Ken Cheng The stock suspension is really rough.
Hmm, not really, the exhaust is def louder in this car but in terms of speed, they felt about the same
Can you remove back seats?
Just bought a 2007 cooper s. He does not like the exhaust haha I would love it.
Did you feel that Mini Cooper S is more responsive than the GTI?
the sunroof and the windows are automatic both ways you just have to push them firmly for half a second i thought the same with my s.
What did they trade this off on???
yes. It reduces weight by like 36lbs.
Sounds like a stock exhaust to me? or maybe the JCW one.
I'm looking for a used one with that two tone interior. Is that factory or aftermarket? Haven't found one like it yet.
It's factory. It came in the pacific blue you see here or rooster red. It was a $1,000 option.
So you had a Fiat? How is the reliability in that ? I'm looking at a Abarth , but it's so small it scares me , even though I don't need a bigger car.
Thanks
The Mini Cooper s is supercharged so why did you say it was turbo guy in the video
the 2006/7> model is turbocharged
Is it consuming much fuel??
How much mpg ??
Dream Car!
I drive both the SC and the turbo one I like the SC one sounds nicer . Plus the supercharged one was in the movie the Italian job
8:51 clutch sounds to be slipping :/ thats prob way the engagement point is so high up
But does it have AUX?
Zahid yes
Also, the hood scoop is NOT functional, the intercooler is located beneath the radiator. I don't think you know too much about how turbos work...
Where did you get that exhaust
Irk
Anyone know what the after market exhaust on this car is?
i think the exhaust is loud -_-
yeah thankfully its aftermarket
No! You could buy an aux input kit online and DIY. If you are not comfortable doing it yourself, you may find a lot of DIY vids on youtube. Goodluck

Certainly better than the 2013 Mini Clubvan.
it looked like the seats folded 50/50 instead of 60/40
I love mine
I don't understand why it has backseats with seat belts and everything lol.
Old comment yes,
But i've actually been able to fit two individuals that are both 6'1" and 6'2" and both being over 175lbs. And myself being 6'1" so the seat was decently far back, it's not the most comfortable ride in the world back there, but it's endurable for an hour- two hour drive,

Jeez how many times you want to tell us the exhaust is loud
volkswagen beetle?
the hood scoop isn't functional
it looks like it was lowered
@zachtravers haha you just need to put a dinner plate on it.
People wiht no legs LOL.Nice vid.
Bs there's loads of space for legroom in the backseat. You jist want things your way but can't accept things for what it is
I'm not sure actually lol
Lol. rear seat has plenty of room if your an amputee. got that from daily driver video. no offense.
7:00 60/40 lmao thats a 50/50
I really don't like this car , you just payed for the BMW symbol at the engine...
I love Mini Cooper ,,but not money not daydream .And go to work
Clutch is gone
why wont you do some damn research like are you serious
has a really loud exhaust system......we heard you the first 10xa Jack@ss

Wtf is with the background scratchy turntable background noise. Makes it unwatchable
