There is also a heart touching story Of the Ottoman Frigate "Ertuğrul" or "Erthogourl" as it was called in the past, from 1890. The Fleet was sent by sultan Abdulhamid II to Japan with, as I know ower 600 Crew members made of Sailors,Officers, a group (50 persons) of the ottoman imperial military band and islamic scholars. One part of the mission was, to spread the messege of islam to Japan and to represent the ottoman khalifate. During the voyage, they stoped in countries such asegypt, india, indonesia, china ect.(i2.wp.com/www.mehmetates.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/en-son.jpg?ssl=1) to pray the fridays prayer with locals and to make a few performances with the ottoman military band (they probably played the Sultans Hmyn Marche Ali Hamidi
m.th-cam.com/video/dOr-zIbptyQ/w-d-xo.html beside the marine marches) to represent the kalifate under Sultan Abdul Hamid Khan II). , unfortunateley the ship sunk during the return from japan while a taifun ragg , the explosion happened possibly because of a leck from a boiler and over 500 crewmembers died. The locals in Japan helped the injured ones, who left. Those who reached the japanese island where injured with broken limbs. According to newspapers from that time, Osman pasha, The admiral, sunk after a bar felt to his head, as he jumped out of the boad.
There is also a turkish-japanese produced movie about this. Its called " Ertuğrul 1890. But unfotunateley the ottoman military band wasnt represented as it should be.

@@leventak911 Who knows! Irish nationalists perhaps. But I can assure you, it is made up. It’s less than 3 lifetimes ago since the Irish famine, so there should be plenty of evidence for it to be found, newspapers etc. Instead, when Irish national historians and local Drogheda historians looked into the story, they couldn’t find a shred of proof that it ever happened. Also the supposed thank you letter from the “Irish nobles” is very obviously phoney. Add to that the claim that the crest of Drogheda, the star and crescent was adopted as a tribute to the ottomans for their help during the famine. Anybody who knows the history of Drogheda, will know that the star and crescent became Drogheda’s crest when it was granted its Town charter by the English king, just back from the crusades, 600 years before the Irish famine.

Here’s a list of charity donations during the Great Famine by country: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Famine_(Ireland)#Charity
Not sure if they’re still teaching about Columbus in school, I think that’s not very popular these days. From the European perspective he was partially responsible for “discovering” the Americas, although technically some Vikings had been there like 500 years earlier or something like that.

@@logicmonster9407No, not Arabic, but Ottoman Turkish was spoken. As a Turk, it hurts me that the Arabs think that the Ottoman Empire is their own state and that the Arab countries, which are the current enemies of Turkey, undertake the actions of the Ottoman Empire.

@freebeerfordworkers Indeed indeed. Even former president Mary McAleese regurgitated this myth on a state visit to Turkey in 2010. The president’s office had to issue a retraction, and admit the story was false, when local Drogheda historians who heard about her speech, told her she had been deceived, and that there had been no ottoman food ships in Drogheda. It hasn’t helped of course that local politician Frank Godfrey (never a man to miss a trick) had a plaque erected to commemorate this event, that never happened.

To give a more concrete sense of the impact £10,000 could have had during the Irish Potato Famine:
    1. **Purchasing Power**: The value of money was much higher in the 1840s. £10,000 then could be roughly equivalent to around £790,000 today, considering a general estimate of inflation.
    2. **Cost of Basic Necessities**: During the 1840s, the cost of basic goods, especially food, was significantly lower. This means the money would buy a much larger quantity of food and supplies.
    3. **Population and Need**: The population of Ireland was around 8 million during the famine. With approximately a million people starving, a sum of £10,000 could provide direct assistance to a significant number of people, considering the cost of basic food items like grain.
    4. **Relative Wealth**: In the context of the 1840s, £10,000 was a substantial amount, equivalent to the wealth of a well-off individual or family. This sum in a community or region could fund large-scale relief operations, like setting up soup kitchens, providing basic medical care, and purchasing food supplies.
    5. **Economic Impact**: The injection of this amount into local economies for relief efforts could also have secondary benefits, like providing employment or supporting local farmers and suppliers.
In summary, while it's challenging to quantify the exact impact in terms of the number of lives saved or people fed, it's clear that £10,000 during the Irish Potato Famine would have been a significant sum. It could provide substantial direct aid and have a noticeable positive impact on the relief efforts.

We members of the So-called third world nations and the Irish people share the same trauma of oppression and occupation that is what fuels our shared sense of justice because of what was done to our ancestors, Muslims understand this but unfortunately modern Ireland has forgotten this piece of their history.
