Just as a side note, this goes to show why sometimes it's just extremely hard for people whose native language has a completely different origin (Japanese VS english) to learn the language. She said "Understand?" because in Japanese you would just say "わかりましたか？" (wakarimasitaka?) or something like that just as some confirmation but they relate the verb "wakaru" into "understand" and then phrase it like a question cuz gramatically in Japanese whatever "transformation of the verb/adverb/etc" you'd do at the end and that's how you get the wakariMASITAKA? at the end. But in english you only transform the time/tense of the verb and you add a whole bunch of other words to arrive at "asking for confirmation of whether you understood something or not". I.E "Did you understand?" It's probably pretty easy for Japanese people to learn Korean grammar cuz what people do in both of those languages is pretty similar, and that's how you get JP people who actually sort of learn "phrases" in Korean that have the correct verb transformation and such, the problem for Japanese people learning english is about all the other connecting words we use that they just do not understand and do not figure out in their heads. They put the base verb "Do" in some translation or dictionary and they get the meaning of the verb "do" or "did" but there's no good way of explaining in short form that the verb "Do" and "did" can be used in so many different ways that the real meaning is a lot more nuanced and depends entirely on the context of the sentence

she treated it like a multi kanji verb in japanese, that's why it's so cursed. 間違う -> "time, discrepancy" -> "time when things are wrong" -> "messing up". "under, stand" -> "beneath a standing position" -> "sitting down".
I guess, given the right situation, you could localize an expression into either "Understand?" or "Sit down" since they can both be expressions of authority. Not as direct translation, obviously.
