There is a possibility toto's 'natural voice' isnt her natural voice. What she may think is her natural voice may be lower or higher than her natural voice and causing strain to her throat. Some singing teacher can help you find your natural voice tho

It was Maza-san (mother3) basically the same.

Almost never they refer to him as Mother3, it's always mother-san.
