I am glad you had your guardian cat. This happened to me, too. My roommate's cat woke her up because a man was trying to get into my window. We called the cops, who found and arrested him. A stray cat saved my life. I had slow unknown internal bleeding and was to death. I was in bed in the middle of the day. My mom thought even though I was really pale, I was just napping. She checked me again a few minutes later and there was an unknown grey DECLAWED tabby "making bisquets" on my chest. The cat had ripped a hole in the window screen to get in. That got my mom's attention. She found she couldn't wake me. She got me to the emergency room and I had emergency blood transfusion and surgery. I kept Jimmy Sue another 15 years, til the end of his life. I wouldn't be here without him. 💖
One time my cat wouldn't come inside. Eventually I went to see what was going on. She led me to an outside door on the bottom of the apartment building and sat by it. I heard some meowing, but my cat's mouth wasn't moving. I realized a cat was trapped in there. I reported it to the property manager. A cat had been locked in there for over a day. Funny thing was, it was my cat's nemesis, but she saved him anyway.
I don't think cats (or most animals) think the way humans do. They don't really "hate" or wish their "enemies" to be hurt. They will hurt each other, but it is over fights about territory or other scarce resources, or maybe to defend its family/group members. Unless it is a predator hunting prey, or the animal has been mistreated, or has been taught to pursue/attack intruders, the vast majority of animals will attack or chase an intruder or threat out of it's territory, then relinquish the chase. It isn't because they don't believe they can prevail. It is because they achieved their objective, and they don't see a need to "punish" for the invasion. Also, as my son used to remind me when he was younger, Batman would be very sad without the Joker and the Joker would have no purpose without Batman. Sometimes, the existence of a constant nemesis to fight is important. It creates a purpose and keeps you sharp.
susancregg472 does have a wise son. Humans are much more likely than cats to take justice too far by tricking oneself into thinking we are nipping bad behavior in the bud. However, despite being very definitely a cat person, there have been times when I felt one of my feline friends did have their revenge on me. For example, I am the proud parent of Fe'lisa and Nick. When I left for college, both of them held it against me for years later. HOwever, he finally forgave me and slept with me once again. Whereas she never fully fargave me for leaving her home for years.
You should have found a college that allowed you to take them with you. I’ve heard stories of cats attending college and even going into classes. One even getting an honorary degree
Back in Dec. 1997 I was in Australia, On xmas day we called my parents to say "Merry Christmas", but we heard the bad news about one of our uncles who had past away - the day before - on Xmas eve in Germany. So I sat down in a huge armchair at my cousins house and my tears started dropping without me making any noise. I was just sitting quietly and thinking of my wonderful uncle who iI would never see again. And at my surprise the female cat jumped on my legs, rested her front legs on my chest and wiped the tears from my cheek with one paw. I was so stunned that I didn't dare move. This must have happened 2 days in a row. *Since then I have known that there are also sensitive and wonderful cats.* 😍
I've noticed that a cat will get it's bluff in on a dog, by putting on a show of force and not backing down. A larger dog could easily kill a cat, but the cat holds it's ground and fools the dog into thinking the cat is dangerous, which it really isn't, at least not to a large dog.
Our torty cat safed my wife´s life. She smelled her breast cacer and that`s why she got evaluated and treated in an early stage. My wife´s fine now and our cat is happyer than ever! :)
Oh, how true that is. My "grandbaby", (actually my daughters' cat), Lillian(Lollipop) died in my arms on May 28, this yr. & I still call her name & cry for her.😟😔😪😞 I was hers & she was mine.😹😻🥰🤗😂
Cats are the best! Agile, clever, intelligent, loving, great pest controllers , low maintenance, independent and ferocious at the same time. Love them!
Yep! It's as if they're designed to be life preservers; their tremendous smarts, speed, agility and HUGE caring could well be unmatched in the animal (including us) kingdom.
My beautiful cat Monty passed away 41 yrs ago. I still miss him so much. He looked after me when I was sad. He would wrap his arms around me to cuddle me. ❤️.
We lost Lily 8 years ago, she was very chatty and loved everybody. She lived with miss-guided youths in a Halfway House for several years until she decided to hang with me in my garage daily. Flew with her in economy class from SF, Ca to Houston where my Mom loved her everyday until she passed. She would actually respond to questions when asked directly I swear. Lily... do you want Tuna? Meeowww!
I do understand as I lost the only cat I’ve had back in January 1976! Snowbird was wonderful - she came from an animal pound (there were no shelters back when I got her in 1970) and I think she was there because she had deformed paws - only 3 toes and she could not retract her claws - I’m sure she was a pure breed Russian Blue the didn’t make the cut. Because I’d the times, I only have a picture of her in my mind but I still miss her! I dint share this as most people think I’m ridiculous!
@@CarrilleptbreakOf course, they understand. They are so smart. When our cat was doing something she was not supposed to (e.g. climbing on tables, we don't like that), my wife just had to raise an eyebrow and she would stop it 😂. They look into our faces and know exactly what we think or are up to. Sometimes my cat came up the couch, look into my eyes and do the blinky blinky eyes slowly closing thing. I always did it back to her and so we both knew, the other one is cool and ok, without saying any words😅
@@Carrilleptbreakalso feeling sorry for your loss. I lost mine 6 years ago. She said goodbye the last time I saw her (I wrote it in the main comments). Still love her ❤ and miss her. I can imagine what you feel 😢
Years ago, when my daughter was a baby, my cat would barely leave her side. She loved him too! She would give him slobbery kisses, hold his ears, explore his whiskers. He adored her and was her protector when her stepfather tried to abuse her! Needless to say, the cat stayed when I got rid of the man!
My wife was talking to a neighbour when a big stray dog approached. My ginger cat Spot flew at the dog and it made a hasty retreat with its tail between its legs. What a hero!
@@forestmcneir3325Don't over do it. Dogs on average are more loyal and protective. That's why they use them in the police, Army, and as guards. Jeez grow up.

Yes, cats are the only creatures that freely choose to live with humans. Other domesticated creatures have been trained and bonded to humans. Before refrigeration systems were invented, people stored the food they produced in warehouses and mice damaged the food. While humans destroyed harmful creatures, cats were tolerated because they hunted mice. - - - - - Evet kediler insanlarla yaşamayı özgürce seçen tek canlılardır. You will never know how protective your cat is until the opportunity presents itself. Even the apparently timid and laid back ones. We had a cat who passed away recently with liver disease who was so laid back, friendly and docile that we could never even imagine him chasing a far more bigger and aggressive dog, until it happened. It was like someone flipped a switch and he turned into a freaking maniac ninja visciously attacking and chasing a dog that seconds earlier had been barking and growling aggressively and was now yelping and fleeing away in fear. He earned my respect that day and I'll always miss him.
My son is autistic. When he was younger he used to have some pretty scary meltdowns - sometimes even violent ones (luckily, with a lot of therapy and hard work, he is now almost 11 and has learned better control, so his meltdowns are shorter, far less frequent and almost never violent). Since before he was born, we have always had cats in our house. He learned to relate to them emotionally before he ever really learned to relate to people (outside of us and a few other adults). So, after he spent a long time proving to us that he could be consistently gentle with cats (our existing cats were old enough that they knew when to steer clear and when they could trust him) and assist in daily care, we got him his own young cat (4 months old) and used some specific techniques we had read about to try to help them form a close bond. It absolutely worked far better than we expected. Emotionally and socially they seemed to be at about the same stage of development. They enjoyed the same types of games, and before long they were playing "tag", hide and seek, popping bubbles, playing with hot wheels and remote control cars (my son controlled it while the cat chased it), and making up their own games together. They slept every night completely curled up together (and still do), and my son would "read" the cat his books, while the cat would actually look at the pages and "help" turn the pages. I think the cat actually considers my son as a litter mate or something similar. Anyway, back to the meltdown. As I said, these meltdowns, until just a year or two ago were quite scary, even if you were accustomed to them. So scary that my husband and I decided to take a course in what is known as "low contact restraint", learning to use our bodies to bring our son to a safe spot and prevent him from hurting himself as we calmed him, while guarding ourselves from any major injuries. These meltdowns included screaming, crying, flopping and all sorts of flailing about. Yet this little cat, from the very first time he saw one, would run right to my son, dodge my son's flailing, and attempt to make his way to my son's face so he could rub against it and give headbutts and kisses. This was a tiny cat. He is now 5 years old and full grown and weighs just over 6 lbs, so at the time he was probably 4-5 lbs, and yet he would not hesitate for a single second to try to reach my son and comfort him. There were even a few times that he got caught in the flailing (accidently) and was pushed away, once or twice in a pretty rough manner. Nonetheless he ALWAYS immediately returned. At times we even tried to hold the cat back, and this tiny creature who is one of the most gentle animals I have ever encountered would wiggle and even scratch his way free to return to my son. My son often would initially resist, but after the cat would keep coming back over and over, it was like my son couldn't ignore it any longer, and would just hold it and pet it or even start laughing at it. It was amazing. To this day, the cat can be anywhere in the house (he is an indoor only cat), and if he hears my son start to escalate or cry, no matter what the cat is doing-even if he is fast asleep- he will immediately race to my son's side to make sure that my son is okay. If my son is just starting to escalate, he will jump onto my son's lap and give him a "cat hug" and nibble at my son's chin until my son calms down and refocuses on the cat. If my son is already melting down, the car races in to try to kiss my son's face and cuddle against his body. Understand that my son is now almost 5 feet tall and weighs about 65 -70 lbs. Many grown adults would be a little hesitant to get close. But all this 6lb cat sees is that his friend is in trouble and he never hesitates for a moment to consider his own safety. He simply trusts that his friend won't hurt him, and that, while the cat may not be able to comprehend the source of the pain, he is determined to help his friend feel better. The love of a loyal pet is just such an amazing kind of love. And there is something so extremely special about a cat's love/loyalty. While cats are very social creatures, most would be fine if they kept to themselves. When they make the voluntary choice to adopt you as part of their "family", you know that you have a friend for life.
A really great true story. Thanks for putting (lol I wrote Purring by mistake and had to retype it) in the time to share it. We have 5 cats at our house...
It's so beautiful seeing how cats fell like they are part of our society and, just like humans, step in for others. These cats show what a true social society feels like.
My Beautiful Cat Biscuit, is my shadow throughout my Heart Surgery Recovery. Never leaves my side. When I came home from Hospital, she was so vocally welcoming, ran to me, tail wagging. She's awesome! ❤
I had a bilateral total knee replacement. When I came home, I was relegated to the bedroom until I could get around. My husband thought it best our two dogs and three cats be kept out so as not to step on my legs and hurt me so he kept the door closed. This went on for a day with him always having to shoo away our big Tom cat, Mr. Tibbs. Mr. Tibbs was a wonderful, loving cat and very attached to me. The second day my husband was bringing me in some soup on a tray and my big boy, who'd been rebuffed several times and had had enough, launched himself ten feet, jumping over my husband landing square on my bed without hurting me. Then this huge 20 lb Tom cat snuggled next to my leg trying to look invisible. I told my hubby he deserved to be with me and to leave him alone. That boy stayed with me through all the pain and tears of rehab, comforting me, only leaving to use the litter box. My husband brought his food and water into the room so he would eat and drink or else he wouldn't have. He stayed with me like that until I could walk again. Sometimes, he was my only comfort during a difficult and painful time. I've had some amazing cats, but Mr. Tibbs beats them all. I still miss him. Once about a year after he passed I was falling asleep and I felt what seemed like him jumping on the bed and laying down next to me (something he had often done). He was a big cat so when he jumped on the bed you felt it. I looked around, but no cat was there (my other two cats were girls and much lighter). I just knew it was Mr. Tibbs, still checking on me, looking out for me. God, I miss that good boy.
@@CynVee I had similar experiences. The first time as a child. I felt our old tom cat walking over me in the night after he passed away. I told nobody about it, because I was afraid of being laughed at. The next time I was an adult and married. Our cat had cancer and we had the vet let her go. In the next night I felt her by my side, making biscuits. In the morning my husband told me that he also felt her making buíscuits. If only I had that experience, it could have been a hallucination out of wish. But we both felt the same.
When my brother got his wisdom teeth out, our late cat, Kumo, made a point to never leave him alone. Started following him like a shadow after that. (Very fitting, considering he was a solid grey cat.) And when a mouse snuck in when he was sick, even though Kumo was elderly and suffering from kidney failure, he stayed by my brother's side and caught that mouse, making sure to crunch it really hard and growled at it as he held it. He only dropped it when he was really sure it was super dead. He was _not_ letting that thing touch his person. He also protected our other cats and acted as a loving mom to them. Even protected them from each other, leaping into the middle of a fight once between two of them. Would follow any new babies around and coo at them and make sure they were safe. He was such an amazing cat. I still miss him.
I was playing in my backyard when a huge dog jumped over fence, into our yard and growled at me. I was so scared and knew I would never make it to the house before the dog would have a chance to attack me. Suddenly a big male cat (not even my cat) who lives in the neighborhood jumped into the dog, biting and scratching. The dog jumped back over the fence and ran away down the road.
If it was a neighbor's cat, it recognizes you as part of its territory and they defend those who are in their domain and whoever knows your body odor already knows the cats recognize even those who live near them.
Cats are brave against bigger dogs because they know they are so much faster. But they would not confront a bigger cat, like a Bobcat, for example. And Bobcats have been known to inflict serious damage to dogs much bigger than them.
@@igoodkid334Dogs, like all other domesticated animals, have the temperament they are brought up to have. It's nonsense to disparage them all like that.

I had some wonderful loving and protective cats during my life. When they trust you they will give you their full love. My last cat would howl at me and get between my mother and I when I had to talk loudly to get her attention. I would gently tell him that we were not arguing. I miss that old cat.💕🇨🇦
I definitely got a chuckle out of the cat getting the dogs toy out of the tree. I'm really impressed with the cats that prevented their child humans from falling down or getting hurt from other dangers.
They know human toddlers are babies, and they treat them like their own kittens. My cat protected her kitten in the same way by nudging it away from the danger and making high pitched prewprewprew sounds.

I miss my first cat! She was like a sister. I was less than a year older than her. She slept with me every night, my oldest memories sleeping in my crib and bed was with her purring and kneading my blanket. That sound and feeling still 40 years later relaxes me and lulls me to sleep. She also was very protective of me.
I had a Tortie that would go on walks with me to the neighborhood park, no leash required. She would stop & sit at the stop signs with me, the neighbors couldn't believe that she was more well behaved than most dogs.
I took my cat, without a cage, to a vet. He sat calmly on a bench, surrounded by other animals, including a huge Great Dane, until the vet called for him.
In a world that seems it has gone increasingly mad for this new millenium, the repeated proofs of these cats' loyalty, devotion and perceptive concern is a reminder, that almost brings me to tears, that there is still beauty in this world and this age.
Everytime I get ready to cut out my fabric to sew, Grimm cat would 'anchor' one end of the fabric for me. She was such a helper. At 19 she went blind and deaf. I miss her every day.
I don’t usually have bad dreams, but one night I was having a vivid dream of being tortured, a ~horrible~ experience. There are several videos here that have longer versions. The cat preventing the child from falling down the stairs is astounding. The cat attacking the dog which was biting the young boy on a bicycle is just as amazing. I know the back stories to both. Make no mistake, they are far more caring and protective than people realise.
Not as obviously emotive as humans and dogs, but they're super expressive. It's just usually more in their whole body and less in their face. Lovey back arches and happy to see you tail flags are adorable.
a motherless small kitten has impacted my life..they will lead you to what they feel is right...their continuous relentless affection will put you in a fix
Our cat lets my little nephew pet her. He's not rough with her, but she tolerates a 2 year old's strokes. She steers him away from danger when he's outside, and when my sister and nephew go for a walk, while the cat is too old to follow, she sits patiently at the front gate for them to return. Cats are also incredibly courageous.
We had several cats, and one of those cats didn't like me, though I was the favorite of all the other cats. However, one night I was in the living room by myself, crying, and that cat came and started loving on ne passionately, trying to comfort me. I will never forget the day when I was away in Poland for a week in a European peoject and one day I got really sick, so I stayed in the room for a whole day trying to feel better, then suddenly a big fluffy cat came to me and he spent the whole day sleeping next to me and keeping me company. It was unforgettable experience. Showcases that cats can also show love and affection when the person needs it the most.
I'll never forget the day my family and I were having lunch, and we heard my 1-year-old brother crying outside. When my father checked, he saw the stray cat we occasionally fed blocking my brother from going upstairs. Our father called us to come see, and we were amazed by the cat's protective behavior. That’s when I realized how smart and protective cats can be. I often hear people say cats are cold-hearted and only care about food, but I know that’s not true. That’s why we released this video-to show just how loyal, kind, and protective cats can be! :)
Cats need lots of love they wont return any if you treat them as puppets, they like to be peted and sleep on you and stuff if you dont give them that they will be lame and just ask for food and sleep yes. Playing with them is also big factor, they love to play almost all life, that helps with bonding too.
I enjoyed much of this video, however the first video where the person is being cruel to the cat I could have absolutely done without. I don’t understand why you would have included that?
House cats’ reputation as protectors and loyal companions to humans are well known as far back as in ancient Egypt where they’re revered as mystical creatures. Mummified cats were found in archaeological excavations of tombs in Egypt which researchers think that ancient Egyptians believed that cats should accompany humans in their journey in the next life. They’re amazing pets.
Yes the semi-domesticated cats of those days were much bigger than the modern house cats. Most dogs, other medium sized animals, and unarmed people were no match for those pet cats either.

Wonderful! Thanks ❤🐱🙏 A strange thing happened once when I was visiting friends in England. They lived in a large, beautiful stone house in the country. The mother and two daughters were at home. A couple of cats were lying on a bench in the kitchen, and a dog was moving around in the house. The mother was going to cook dinner and said I could go to the living room and watch TV. So I went there and sat down on a couch. First, the two daughters came in and sat beside me. After a while, one of the cats comes from the kitchen directly toward me, jumps onto my lap, settles down, and starts to purr. Then, the daughters go crazy and scream after their mother. She comes running and wonders what happened. They say she should look at my lap, where the cat from the kitchen is purring. I probably look confused, but the mother explains that not even they (or anyone else) were ever allowed to touch the cat.
When I was a teenager I came home one day all weepy because the boy I liked didn't like me. Threw myself on the couch sobbing, and our family cat jumped up beside me and lay down right next to me. And he was just an ordinary cat, not the kind that followed us everywhere. But he knew when he was needed!

Once I walked outdoors without really looking around and nearly walked into a bear. My cat streaked past me, and chased the bear away!

Good son!
I've noticed that a cat will get it's bluff in on a dog, by putting on a show of force and not backing down. A larger dog could easily kill a cat, but the cat holds it's ground and fools the dog into thinking the cat is dangerous, which it really isn't, at least not to a large dog.
People think cats are cold, but they are actually very loving. They have deep feelings and they want to be connected to us.
Cats don't take crap from anyone! I guess that's why I love and identify with them so much.

Love them!
Cats low maintenance?? I think you should get to know my cat, then you would certainly see it differently
Please accept my deepest condolences on the passing of your dear sweet Monty 😭😿💔

That's why they use them in the police, Army, and as guards.

My orange tabby NEMO saved my life 2x in two weeks. He woke me up when a blanket sufficated me and I was shakking from 02 deprivation and a week later jumped on my legs when the stove was not shut off.
He survived the Paradise CA fire in 2018 and helped human survivors recover.
My favorite was the cat opening the door up for the baby 🥰❤️😍🙏🏾
Cats are sacred and holy. They are people with full personalities, and they love just like us.
Above all; give respect to Cats! They chose to be with us and are our spirit companions!
Cats aren’t any kind of spirit. They’re simply cats put on this earth by God probably just to ignore us so we realize we really aren’t all that!

@@Hans_kimconsern My cats don't listen, I suspect they are french separatist cats, you want one?
I had the feeling the cat was thinking, "I don't know why you want to do this, but I'll help you."
Thank you so much for sharing! This was beautiful. Best of luck to you, your son, and your whole family!
This genuinely made me tear up. Like melodeene said, thank you for sharing! That friendship is beautiful

I was very sad. My normally aloof cat came to cuddle and comfort me. What a sweetheart! He set aside his tuxedo dignity to love me.
Dogs are bullies, dogs are cowards.
He was being a good boy! 😊

Geniuses! The way they protect toddlers is astounding,
I definitely got a chuckle out of the cat getting the dogs toy out of the tree. I'm really impressed with the cats that prevented their child humans from falling down or getting hurt from other dangers.
They know human toddlers are babies, and they treat them like their own kittens. My cat protected her kitten in the same way by nudging it away from the danger and making high pitched prewprewprew sounds.
Actually, that was a full size frizby, a human toy, but yes, some dogs will join in and jump up and catch them better than people can.

That's because cats have self respect and awareness. Dogs do not and learn as they are taught, which unfortunately, is usually very poorly.
In a world that seems it has gone increasingly mad for this new millenium, the repeated proofs of these cats' loyalty, devotion and perceptive concern is a reminder, that almost brings me to tears, that there is still beauty in this world and this age.

A strange thing happened once when I was visiting friends in England.

My cat, Whiskey, saved my life. My wife died 17 years ago. Whiskey had always been standoffish. She liked affection on her terms. After Karen died a miracle happened. Suddenly Whiskey became a very affectionate lap kitty. She was my constant companion until she finally died 10 years later.
Peluditos de gran corazón, sois lo mas maravilloso de este mundo. 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡
Кошки - умнички! Когда мои были маленькие и начинали плакать, наша кошка тут же прибегала и как бы жалела, старалась им слёзки вытереть ❤
Por eso amo❤ a los gatos!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😻😻😻😻😻😻😻😻😻 Son puro amor....
Once you know a cat's love and loyalty, you cant go back, you're hooked! Mom had one that babysat me and watched over me.
Cats are the best 🥰
The cats are my favorite type of pet. My cat Oscar is my psychologist.
So cute how the cat helps the woman wash the bottom of the saucepan lol
I used to sleep on the couch every night so I could fall asleep while watching TV, huge couch and so comfy. Every morning I'd wake up spooning my sweet cat Roxxy who had snuggled in beside me, resting her head on my outstretched arm. She was very adept at snuggling with me while I was asleep. I miss her sooo. RIP my beautiful, fun, smart little girl kitty. 😊😊🤎🤎
