Agree, teach the child to do "Mano or to do Amen" in bisayan dialect because it is a very respectful way of a child to see how he/she respect the parents, grand parents and elder relatives that even they become older they will do it. This is one of the Filipino values we have beside Ate and Kuya.

I'm a foreigner married to a Filipina. When I fell in love with my wonderful wife, I fell in love with the country as well. The only thing I have a hard time coping with is the humid weather, but certainly, it's manageable if I stay there for a long period of time.

The #5 point is a surprise for me ( the weather) cause I never imagined that foreigners from a cold county would appreciate the warm ( and even so hot ) weather here in the Philippines 🤔🥰🌴

I'm glad that you and your children are thriving in the Philippines. One thing we don't have in the Philippines is racism. As long as you are nice and friendly we will treat you like family.
thank you Jelena for giving positive feedback and loving our country and adopting the culture. Very rare to find a foreigner like you loving our country, many of the countrymen left the Philippines.
If you haven't done it yet, you should apply for permanent residency for you and your children so you won't have to pay for the extension of your tourist visas. However, do not apply for Filipino citizenship because you want to maintain your Latvian or German or EU citizenship as well as for your children so they can travel to Europe any time they want when they get older without having to apply for a tourist visa. With regards to your son feeling sleep in school, it's because it's hard to fall asleep at night when it is hot and his body tries to compensate for the lack of sleep during the day.
A foreigner needs to reside in the Philippines for at least 10 years to become a permanent resident.
A foreigner who has resided in the Philippines for at least 2 years is considered a resident alien. If less than 2 years, the foreigner is designated as a non-resident alien.
Regarding your kids sleepiness. You may also need to monitor your kid's diet as this too will affect his energy levels during the day. Try not to give him too heavy meals in the morning as this would make him sluggish and lethargic since his digestive system will be going on overdrive. Light meals and then sweet snacks in between is best for giving him enough energy to burn without slowing him down. Back then, we used to have bread or fried rice, eggs, fish or vegetables in the morning and sweet snacks or fruits in between, then a heavy lunch before some needed siesta time at noon for rest and recuperation, this leads to more energy and gets them playing out in the sun more and will make them sweaty all day, but it's a good thing because this will help boost their immunity(I believe overdependence on Aircon lowers immunity, hence people go to the gym to sweat again for health reasons). And make sure they do not to have too much sugar late in the afternoon or evening so they won't be hyper all night and lethargic in the morning after. And stay off fast food and processed food as much as you can.
In the provinces, the nights isn't that hot and when it's raining it can actually get cold. I'm guessing her kids sleep with the a/c or fan on. Millions of children sleep at night in the country with no problem, how it'll be different for anyone is just ridiculous logic. They've already lived in Thailand where it's even hotter so they should've already acclimatize by now.

That's what I've said to those Filipinos wishing to have a snow in the Philippines. Our weather is already perfect by God. Don't wish to change it or you will regret. It's not really that good living in snowy country, life is difficult. Except for typhoon, earth and flashfloods, it's a calamity, natural occurrence.

Sweet potatoes are rich in fiber and have lower glycemic index so more beneficial for diabetics or those who are pre-diabetic. Agree with your choice instead of white rice.👍
Massages are so expensive in the US, too, like in Germany. And we also have to book ahead of time.

We're the same, I do love having a massage on a regular basis that I have someone come to my apartment, home service, twice a week. I pay just a little more than a salon price but it's the convenience of not having to leave my apartment to get my massage. And she does my manicure, pedicure, foot spa and facial, too! It's very affordable compared to the U.S. I just love it here!
And I better love to go out.. I love salons atmosphere 😍

That's what I want in the Philippines, everything is easy. Here in the US you have to make an appointment. Even at the hospital, you still need to make an appointment and have a primary doctor.

Great with videos that show a bit of daily life in the Philippines. The minus for many foreigners and the Filipino people is the health system, only the rich with cash money feel safe if they get ill. Too many accidents on motorbikes also, not many follow traffic rules and that makes it a bit scary to drive. Anyway, for younger people, the pros outweigh the cons of most things🙂.

Brush the sweet potato while washing them to get the dirt off, then boil. After you boil them, you can just pinch the skin and they'll slide right off.... It will definitely be faster and less dangerous without that peeler...
