So you're knocking Mystik Dan for overuse while STG is doing the same. Is that right? I've heard 60% of the pundits dismissed all the horses that ran at Churchill and YET the top 3 at the Preakness all ran at Churchill. What happened to your Tuscan Gold who had loads of rest? It's the Fight in the horse that matters. For 2 minutes, the meanest horse wins.
My top two choices are Sieze the Grey and Seria Leone.. I will play both over and under in the second spot. Sieze the Grey has excellent pedigree. He came out of a mile race at Churchill that had way faster fractions than anyone in the Preakness saw in their last race. Henceforth, it was no surprise that he was on the lead. Horses are creatures of habit. Very few of them are versatile enough to be rated. I cheered The Grey home and cashed in on my Black Eye Susan Preakness double for $10.. and picked up $572 plus I also nailed the Trifecta for a dollar. Sieze the Grey's fraction at 6 furlongs was a nifty 1:11 and he galloping out very well. He is more a stalker than a pacesetter.. Arogate was a speedy front runner with staying power. I think that Seize the Grey is coming into his own and has demonstrated tactical speed. He fits well with my pace scenario projection, as well as Seria Leone. As for Mindframe, I am not sold on his 1 mile and 16th victory. Fractions 24, 49, 1:13, and them galloped off did not impress me. He beat a field that did not want any part of those slow opening fractions. Countless number of horses are clocking 1:43 for Mile & 16th and running much faster early fractions. His 1:21 over 7 furlongs was an impressive time. I would have been more impressed if he had set the pace and ran away in that time or faster. I will only use him because of his jockey Ortiz and the trainer, TP combination, and just in case he is really that good. I definitely prefer others over him to beat my top picks in my backup bet.
Dornoch is the only horse in the field to get past by the betting favorite in this race(Sierra Leone) and came again to beat him. Don't sleep on Dornoch.
