  • The 2022 Audi RS 3 is great at mostly everything. It's fast, has a ton of grip, and enough character to make us enthusiasts happy. Why have 4 cylinders when you can have 5?

    I took delivery of my RS3 two days ago and I am massively impressed by the car. In comfort mode (I call it "old man mode" - which I am), it's a very comfortable ride. It won't scare the hell out of your wife during the drive to Starbuck. Hit the RS button on the steering wheel, unleash the beast inside, and it's a different story. Unless you're an Audi fan, the average person would never know the car was a hot rod. That's exactly the kind of "stealth mode" I wanted when I found this car.

    I love how Audi experiments with its colors having more than one color that it can change to under sun light. I’ve seen their dark green do the same on the S5. BMW is so proud of itself because it released a boring basic purple on the 2 series, which is a new body-style. It was a missed opportunity for BMW to be more creative with their colors much like Audi is. A purple that showed slight different colors on the BMW would have given the 2 series the progression that it deserves.✌️

    Great to see the two of you finally posting a review of this car and I appreciate you giving it to the Other Chris to test for us (in Late August). I could listen to that 5 Cylinder all day, of both the S & RS models. Thanks guys!
    I actually prefer the Sedan version or as we in the UK would call it (a Saloon)… we also have the Hatchback model of the A, S & RS 3s as most of Europe. The are also 2 Steering Wheel options with these, the one with a Flat-bottom, and the one you guys were using also!

    I have this exact spec and color RS3 and put a high flow Unitronic catted downpipe and mid pipes to give the exhaust more sound. Its the perfect balance now, still quiet in comfort mode but in dynamic under load its quite a bit more rowdy. I'll be adding the chrome rings on the front grill and painting the mask of the grill the body color next and have a set of BC 19x9 wheels being made to run 265's all around. Its a keeper after these weeks and can't wait for tuning to come out for it.

    I watched the review and was disappointed. The guys should of been better familiar with the product before taking it for a drive. The M240 is another great fast car but it's still an M lite. Both can be tuned to be beasts but the RS3 still has higher upper limits for tuning and better suspension. There is the new M2, which if you can get over how ugly it is, is a pretty good car but it as shocking for them to say the M240 was better.

    You need to remove the secondary cat converters. They added them to be more quiet for sound regulation because of its size.
    This makes it sound awesome and unleashed a lot more power.

    Honestly, what I wish Audi would do is make a detuned version of this 5 cyl engine standard (or one rung up the ladder from the base engine) in the A4, A5, Q5, and A6. Think about it. LITERALLY EVERY ENTRY in those segments (except for maybe a couple) comes standard with a two🥱liter🥱turbocharged🥱four🥱cylinder🥱with🥱250🥱hp🥱and🥱270🥱lb-ft🥱of🥱torque. A standard or near-standard but still affordable 5 cylinder option would be an easy, instant way to stand out from the competition, especially before the EV wave fully crashes, and I think it could blunt a lot of the criticism of Audi’s being cold and sterile-feeling from a driving perspective. Maybe even do a reverse-staggered tire setup like the RS3 and play up that kind of handling characteristic, just without being as hard core. Not holding my breath at all that Audi will go this way, but it’d be super cool to see.

    • @ryanb8736
      @ryanb8736 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This is detuned. Anything less and it won’t run.

    • @ryanb8736
      @ryanb8736 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Problem is this 5 cylinder is not an affordable drivetrain. It’s a 20k engine all alone after discount. Then you also have the DQ500 which is another 18k. So that’s 38k combined in drivetrain.
      So no matter what this goes into, add 38k on top of base model. That makes the RS3 a complete bargain. All turn key.
      Now you can tune these easily for 500 easy HP. That’s just stage 1.

      Not sold on M2 looks yet. Plus I need it for daily in deep snow on long highway drives in winter. M240 fits the bill, but is ugly. Although the M240 does drive amazing.
      May have to go SUV this time. I do need more room. So X5 M50 or SQ8.

    • @ryanb8736

      It’s far from slow. You just have to keep it in it’s rev range. These also isolate out the outside, till you look at the speedometer.
      It’s quiet because of European regulations. They added 2 extra converters. You can take them off and get bypass pipes for 200. Makes a huge difference.
      Plus you can also tune it for more power to unlock the ECU. Stock blocks can handle 800hp and 500 TQ.
      Fastest stock block and stock turbo cars run high 9’s. Only simple bolt ons. That’s insane. So it’s far from slow.
