I think one important thing that most people overlook is that you don't need to render the games at 1080p if you're using the laptop's screen, the pixel density (and thus the perceived sharpness) on the screen will be slightly better if you use 1600 x 900 on a 17.3' or 1280 x 720 on 15.6' compared to your standard FHD at 24.5'. If you're using a bigger screen, go for it, it performs well enough; but something to consider nonetheless.
The same reason why you don't need a large megapixel camera unless you're going to blow it up very large and then you see the pixelating and loss of quality
I have the 3060, 10th gen i5 version of this laptop. I really like it, its a great desktop replacement if you can’t get a full setup. The battery definitely sucks, but it still works really well plugged in. Also, the laptop I own has a 244 hz screen, those were up for a bit on Newegg and then disappeared.
I think all gaming laptops suck on battery. Normal laptops seem to have a much better battery. Like doing schoolwork my gaming laptops lasts about 90min. And my regular laptop would last multiple hours.
@kol² there is usually a setting to only allow the battery to charge upto a set amount of %. In my msi laptop I could make it so it never goes above 50% on the Dragon center app.

These types of demos/reviews are great BUT... someone really needs to do yearly reviews of the LAPTOP AND THEN TELL US HOW IT HAS HELD UP, Like the Fan Noise THAT WILL always COME.
The fan noise on the gigabyte g5 md is loud when it’s plugged in but it’s not loud when your doing simple tasks like on google or something if the fan noise is bothering you then just turn on silent mode it will decrease performance by a bit but I do recommend letting the fans flow with air instead of silent mode
Laptop becoming better value than PCs could be a sign of diminishing returns, besides the whole shortage and crappy market situation. At this point, these laptops can run these modern titles pretty ok and that’s all we really need. Stuffing beefy GPUs and CPUs into rigs, making them cost over $3000 just to play at 4K at max settings at the same frame rate, probably better just to get a laptop instead unless you really care that much about the visuals
I hate myself for missing this deal. I'm picking up the new 12th gen version for $799 now. Still a great value, i5-12500H 12 core processor, 3050ti, 16GB of ram, Thunderbolt4, etc. etc. definitely well ahead of the pack for these specs at that price but that $550 deal was unreal.

The big problem with these laptops is Optimus, which makes it so it uses the Intel iGPU when the load is light to save some battery, but because the internal display is physically connected to the iGPU, it will bottleneck the 3050 Ti unless you use an external monitor and turn the internal display off in Windows settings (its backlight will most likely stay on). I would love a switch so you can manually set the iGPU or the 3050 Ti. And if you don't have it, then go for a Ryzen gaming laptop because AMD iGPUs are much better than Intel iGPUs. I personnally play Minecraft Bedrock Edition, which is quite a light game, even though there's that input lag if it does not have enough power to reach the FPS cap, and as I use vsync to avoid input lag (sounds weird but this is because of how Minecraft Bedrock renders, at least the version that installs on 64 bits Windows), with the laptop display I get 72 FPS (half vsync because it can't reach 144) and with an external monitor I can maintain 144 FPS most of the time. And this has an Ryzen CPU so the bottleneck isn't even as bad as an Intel version.

And if you plug an external monitor, you need to go into settings and turn the internal display off, or you will get even worse performance with both on. Also make sure to set your refresh rate for the external monitor, and you can only set it right once the internal display is set off. Backlight will likely stay on. Ryzen CPUs are better than Intel for graphics, so by using the laptop's internal display, you are losing less performance than you would with an Intel CPU, but it's still a noticeable loss.
@@disco7870 I haven't really noticed a degrade in performance but some AAA titles have a really hard time running, even on low settings. Fortnite runs perfectly fine on mid settings and so does RDR2 but some other games like the Witcher, elden ring, and other bigger titles have a bad performance even on low settings. It's a good starter laptop for people that like playing the same games that don't require a really strong GPU , but if you have the extra couple hundred dollars to spare, I recommend you buy something with more GPU ram
@@disco7870 No, I don't think any laptops have models of the 3050 or 3050ti with more than 4gb of GPU ram. Any laptops with a 3060 or 2060 or higher will have more, 3050 is only 4gb. But it is a lot more expensive for better GPUs. The difference between a 3050 laptop and a 3060 can be up to $700 but if you're lucky you can find a good deal

Probably the most tempting, but I can't go back to 1080p gaming, I don't even use or upgrade my gaming Desktop. PC gaming is just ruined for me because all of the bad ports and tweaks etc. So I just stick with the Series X and PS5 since they are so CLOSE to PC gaming as far as resolutions. Framerates, enh, not so much. But if they have the higher 4K or close to, visuals. Sorry I have to take that over fps, since I'm not a first person shooter gamer at ALL. Just bought one for 550$ .. and bought 2 8G Ram sticks for 40$ .. I also had a 3TB Seagate external Drive (I think I bought it for like 90$ a long time ago .. but I’d just by a laptop SSD for cheaper if you wana copy this build) Imo a solid 2ndary Laptop with my primary 5800x/6900XT Tower I upgraded to right before I got the laptop. P.S I found a RTX 3060 Acer Laptop for 649$ right after purchasing this. Kind of bummed cuz the 3060 is the better laptop but this one has its Perks. (A lot sleaker, Smaller Etc)
I got this laptop and it's amazing. Only problem i'm running into is I can't get into Safe Mode. Says the windows.efi is corrupted? Which is a shame. I also had to completely reinstall the graphics card to make sure i can update it. not sure if the others are having problems with it

Tldr, yes You can put one of the 4+4pin in there it fine. 4 and 8 is the same its essentially just 2 of the 4 pins together same points for everything. So no need to worry about anything. I've done it myself too, also googled it to find out the same.

did you have the bios issue like i did when i got this? i had to upgrade to the newest bios and upgraded the ram to 32 gig 3200 to get it kinda where i wanted it. but yea that bios out of the box REALLY fucked my preformance and it took some digging to figure out the issue.

I'd check out some of the msi laptops. I got a i5 10xxxh(either a 10200 or 10300 forgot which one exactly but they're kinda the same anyways) -a 3060 75w it give the same performance as a last gen 2060 130w -16 gigs of 2933mhz ram I wouldn't go lower than 3000ish but its good enough to where faster ram will only give like 7 more fps. - a 500gig m2 ssd(its not much but all budget laptops come with that much and it had a free expension slot in mine so I upgraded it to 1.5tb -Cooling is very sufficient I can keep my gpu and cpy below 80c with not to much noise for a laptop could be much lower but then the fans get to loud. -The screen is 1080p 144hz. -Battery isnt great but gaming laptips cant give full performance when not plugged in anyways so thats just a game laptop thing. Id rate it a 8/10 overall the cpu could be better but it runs anygame pretty decent even the new bf2042 runs well enough. A bit over 60fps in the most demanding situations with a few drops here and there. but some cpus like a r5 2600 can't even get 60 at times with a lot of drops so that seems to be a optimization thing and a good result for the i5). Easier to run games will easily get over 60fps, and you can usually use high settings no problem. 2k and rtx is also doable but might require tweaking of some settings in games like bf2042.
My cpu on my HP laptop runs about 95C under load, I don't like it personally but I haven't had any problems in over 2 years. I know that it can lower the life of the CPU but I think it's fine, in reality it might cut 1 or 2 years off it's 10 year life.

please help I need help to choose a gaming laptop. should I buy a Asus rog Zephyrus g14 with Ryzen 7 5800HS with RTX 3050ti or Zephyrus g15 with Ryzen 9 5900HS with RTX 3050. I am looking forward to play PUBG, battlefield 2042, GTA V, maybe COD warzone. My external monitor is 1080p 60fps and I will probably be gaming on that so all I need is 60fps without having to set graphics lower than medium + DLSS. Will the g15 with 3050 with R9 perform as good as the g14 with 3050ti with R7 because it is slightly bigger and has a better CPU. I saw some TH-cam videos and according to them 3050 on g14 gets very hot I don't know if g15 has the same problem. g14 is about 100$ cheaper than the g15. That's why I don't buy gaming laptops. Had them before, hot, noisy and didn't last more than a few months, I didn't even bother keeping them long enough to see if they would last longer. As they were riddled with problems, WIFI, Bluetooth, blue screens, black screens. Especially Asus, just garbage. This one seems decent. But I'd honestly buy a Chromebook, and stick with my Series X/PS5 and gaming desktop. lol

I got a Acer Nitro 5 with 10th gen i5, 16Gb ram and RTX 3050ti for $899. With warranty it came out somewhere around $1000-$1100.

I hate myself for missing this deal. I'm picking up the new 12th gen version for $799 now. Still a great value, i5-12500H 12 core processor, 3050ti, 16GB of ram, Thunderbolt4, etc. etc. definitely well ahead of the pack for these specs at that price but that $550 deal was unreal.
Probably the most tempting, but I can't go back to 1080p gaming, I don't even use or upgrade my gaming Desktop. PC gaming is just ruined for me because all of the bad ports and tweaks etc. So I just stick with the Series X and PS5 since they are so CLOSE to PC gaming as far as resolutions. Framerates, enh, not so much. But if they have the higher 4K or close to, visuals. Sorry I have to take that over fps, since I'm not a first person shooter gamer at ALL. But I like this one, simple, sleek, not hardcore build quality, from what I see, or have seen. Excellent bang for your buck. Also GREAT VIDEO GUYS. I like your banter. Also DANG IT!!! I personally got a 3060 laptop with a core I 7 10750. Not bad and it runs battlefield 2042 with a good 60 fps. Not bad if I say so myself.

Imo a solid 2ndary Laptop with my primary 5800x/6900XT Tower I upgraded to right before I got the laptop.
P.S I found a RTX 3060 Acer Laptop for 649$ right after purchasing this. Kind of bummed cuz the 3060 is the better laptop but this one has its Perks. (A lot sleaker, Smaller Etc)

I got this laptop and it's amazing. Only problem i'm running into is I can't get into Safe Mode. Says the windows.efi is corrupted? Which is a shame. I also had to completely reinstall the graphics card to make sure i can update it. not sure if the others are having problems with it

Hello! If anyone could help it would mean a lot. I ordered a nw psu and i just realised that my mobo has a 4pin connector for cpu. And the psu is not. Can anyone give me a link for an adapter? Or can i use a 8pin to 8+4pin adapter and use the 4 pin half? Or what should i do. I can't buy a new mobo or something expensive
Tldr, yes
You can put one of the 4+4pin in there it fine. 4 and 8 is the same its essentially just 2 of the 4 pins together same points for everything. So no need to worry about anything.

did you have the bios issue like i did when i got this? i had to upgrade to the newest bios and upgraded the ram to 32 gig 3200 to get it kinda where i wanted it. but yea that bios out of the box REALLY fucked my preformance and it took some digging to figure out the issue.

While the 3050 Ti actually has a physical benefits over the 3060. The 3060 was the vastly superior chip. But overall still happy on my purchase. Good deal but seen a great one after.

I'd check out some of the msi laptops. I got a i5 10xxxh(either a 10200 or 10300 forgot which one exactly but they're kinda the same anyways)
-a 3060 75w it give the same performance as a last gen 2060 130w
-16 gigs of 2933mhz ram I wouldn't go lower than 3000ish but its good enough to where faster ram will only give like 7 more fps.
- a 500gig m2 ssd(its not much but all budget laptops come with that much and it had a free expension slot in mine so I upgraded it to 1.5tb
-Cooling is very sufficient I can keep my gpu and cpy below 80c with not to much noise for a laptop could be much lower but then the fans get to loud.
-The screen is 1080p 144hz.
-Battery isnt great but gaming laptips cant give full performance when not plugged in anyways so thats just a game laptop thing.
Id rate it a 8/10 overall the cpu could be better but it runs anygame pretty decent even the new bf2042 runs well enough. A bit over 60fps in the most demanding situations with a few drops here and there.
but some cpus like a r5 2600 can't even get 60 at times with a lot of drops so that seems to be a optimization thing and a good result for the i5).
Easier to run games will easily get over 60fps, and you can usually use high settings no problem. 2k and rtx is also doable but might require tweaking of some settings in games like bf2042.

My cpu on my HP laptop runs about 95C under load, I don't like it personally but I haven't had any problems in over 2 years. I know that it can lower the life of the CPU but I think it's fine, in reality it might cut 1 or 2 years off it's 10 year life.

I need help to choose a gaming laptop. should I buy a Asus rog Zephyrus g14 with Ryzen 7 5800HS with RTX 3050ti or Zephyrus g15 with Ryzen 9 5900HS with RTX 3050. I am looking forward to play PUBG, battlefield 2042, GTA V, maybe COD warzone. My external monitor is 1080p 60fps and I will probably be gaming on that so all I need is 60fps without having to set graphics lower than medium + DLSS.
Will the g15 with 3050 with R9 perform as good as the g14 with 3050ti with R7 because it is slightly bigger and has a better CPU. I saw some TH-cam videos and according to them 3050 on g14 gets very hot I don't know if g15 has the same problem.
g14 is about 100$ cheaper than the g15. I like the design of both of these and I want the portability as well. in that case g15 has a larger battery 90whr compared to 76whr on g14. is it a huge deference?
There is a another g15 with RTX 3060 but it is about 500$ expensive than the g15 with 3050. I am from Sri Lanka and I don't have many other options. in here g14 is about 1900$, g15 with 3050 is 2000$ and the 3060 g15 is 2500$. I can't order from global websites like amazon either because shipping cost is too high and clearance issues.

The temps are the only problem of this laptop... And noisy coolers too.
That's why I don't buy gaming laptops. Had them before, hot, noisy and didn't last more than a few months, I didn't even bother keeping them long enough to see if they would last longer. As they were riddled with problems, WIFI, Bluetooth, blue screens, black screens. Especially Asus, just garbage. This one seems decent. But I'd honestly buy a Chromebook, and stick with my Series X/PS5 and gaming desktop. lol
