    I bought mine today.. and made a couple of calls. The ones receiving the calls, said that the could hear me perfectly. However, I think the XM4 are a bit overrated. Do they sound well? Absolutely… yes. Are they comfortable? Yes. Is the noise canceling feature outstanding? Yes, it is! It’s almost magical. But I personally do not get a pair of headphones for their capability to block external sound or noise, I get them to reproduce sound with pristine precision and exquisiteness… This headphones do not disappoint.. but given their “enormous reputation”, I thought they were going to be a little “better”. Should you get them? Yes.. it’s a great product for sure :) I Apologize for my basic English, it’s not my native language.

    Good review thanks I recently bought the XM4’s and find everything great and love the sound quality, apart from I wish they they were a bit smaller (as I must have a small head lol). Plus the heat up like you say, the sides of my head get really sweaty quickly so I find I need to take them off for a bit after not even an hour. Perhaps my small head just isn’t made for overheads 🤦‍♂️

  • @desireless4092
    @desireless4092 2 ปีที่แล้ว +57

    Pros:
    - decent build quality and light on the head
    - loud enough (at least for me)
    - carry box and accessories make complete package
    - USB Type C
    - both connectors are 3.5mm based
    - ANC is really good, even when turned off, the passive noise canceling from the build itself is decent
    - overall, they live up to the hype
    Cons:
    - If you want to hit the sweet LDAC and that audio experience: you need to use Deeszer Hi-Fi or Tidal or if local mp3 - flac/lossless is preferred otherwise you are not using or pushing them to their fullest potential.. So not really the device's fault itself. So average 320kbs won't do. The difference IS really noticeable.
    - touch controls gimmicky as any wireless headphones so far
    - although well built the hinges are plastic and not mechanical and metal like the ones found in, for example: Sennheiser Momentum 3
    - microphone is shit (but if you me don't care, it does the job)
    - if you have iDevice you are stuck with ACC or whatever [insert marketing bullshit name] codec Apple are using. No aptX or LDAC for you.

    • @josephgood2704
      @josephgood2704 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Plastic hinges are definitely not metal but i believe they are still mechanical. I don't think someone is handmaking every xm4 (not sure you know what it means?)... The hinges are great and they don't bend or break.. Metal adds weight.

    • @desireless4092
      @desireless4092 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@josephgood2704 yes, I worded it wrong. They are plastic and lack the satisfying movement and build of the ones found in Sennheiser's Momentum 3 or Urbanite XL.
      It might not be an issue for you, but I think they are inferior to the above mentioned and - the weight you are concerned about is not an issue. If there are XM5 I would not mind if they improve and reinforce the hinge design and also making the cup holders from aluminium and the arch support from textile material that is not prone to cracking like PU leather.

Could you make it clear what did you mean by saying "With the Sony, you will have to stop sometimes and nudge in the same direction when u have picked up a new device". This could be a deal breaker for me if it cannot connect simultaneously to multiple device.

The bose have much much better 3d imaging and instrument separation when it comes to watching movies. Along with the punchy base and very sharp drums make it very exciting and immersive. You are right about call quality I can barely hear myself talking although the person on the other can hear me well. It could have better for a headphone commanding a premium price. Also my voice is not loud and sharp as compared to headset with boom mic.
    However the mic noise cancelling is pretty good with very little background noise.
    Once glitch I find using these headphones which is not mentioned in your review when you try to swipe up or down to change volume sometimes pauses the music.

    I’m getting the Sony XM4 and Bose QC45 for the same price on Amazon, but I can’t decide which one to get. I really love bass heavy music, which Sony offers, but I’ve seen in many videos that they’re quite uncomfortable, and leave your ears very warm and red, plus because of the bass, the music becomes muddy. They say the QC 45 is much more comfy and has clearer sound, but lacks bass.It also does not have the inaccurate touch sensors like the Sony, which don’t work well in winters . It would be great if you could give some insight . 😃

    The Sony XM3's are better than the XM4s. The 4 has more features, like auto-pause when you lift a cup off your ear, and junk like that. But Sony managed to ruin the Treble of the XM4s. Which is bad, because they are already heavy on bass. The XM3's are cheaper, get those instead while you can, or if you own XM4s, look into EQ. Using the "bright" setting on the XM3's made it sound better, im sure reddit has ways to make the XM4s sound better.
