    Thanks Jay for your hard work! Even though I'm still struggling with the thoughts like spending over $3K on a piece of USB cable is NOT a shameless scam! Anyway... Still enjoying the hardware gear! Have a great 2022!

    Perhaps tell us what tubes are in your amps and preamp..as this can ( and will) make a very big difference to the sound. It will not make the VAC gear sound like ss gear, but it will change the 'flavor' considerably..resulting in what some may perceive as a more or less tube like sound. For the purpose of ss vs tube..maybe irrelevant, but folks should know that the VAC gear can be tube rolled and therefore sound more to their particular taste. Tube vs. SS...always IMHO going to be coming down to your particular bent towards one 'flavor' or another...no wrong or right answers. One thing that is for sure...Tube gear is a LOT more maintenance than good ss gear. Owning both, I love my tube amps...but my ss amp is just a heck of a lot easier to live with. ( No tube biasing, no tubes to replace, not as much heat, no waiting for lengthy warm up/tubes to settle etc).

    I do not want to be an annoying type. 🤔
    Yes, I love your videos and what you do. I just thinking about if a power socket needs 500 hours to break in.
    That put you in a awkward position that you need to play 1.37 hours each day in a whole year until getting to 500 hours or 21 days for 24-7.
    The awkward position is it starts with the power socket so the whole system is as you said sounds "broken". So there went January out of the window just for that power socket. 😢
    And here we for 2021 we are talking about multiple USB cables, multiple of speaker wires and multiple of power cords and we had only 12 months in 2021.
    That should be more complex than a power socket.
    Yes, we can use all of the different wiring components at the same time and let them burn in simultaneously.
    But if or when several of then might be helped with burn in to get to sound its best. Especially more interesting to hear what they can deliver at its peak when it is pricey stuff.🥰
    Anyway maybe they have been treated with a cable cooker?
    Anyway all those cables and cable swapping should take years to let them to settle in?🤔
    The same goes for the USB cable if they need burn in TIME. And when they are in the front en then the system should not sound optimal until gradually getting to that point in time that the USB cable is fully burnt in.. like the power socket then until that time has passed then it is no big idea to review or forming an opinion on any other gear downstream?! (Or i just misunderstand stuff now??)
    Then we have not talked about break in for all the power conditioners, streamers, DACs, preamp, poweramps and speakers.. i guess most of the gear do not need burn in otherwise a year is to short time span! 🥰
    Then we also have system matching.. How do we know if the bad sound is because of bad system match OR if it just needs 500 hours until it is a match in heaven?🤔

    Jay thank you for all the Heavy lifting in 2021, I look forward to your opinions in 2022. Just a thought, for maybe one review in the new year when a piece of gear inspires you, how about a little boogie dance in your room. . . to let us know you have been truly moved ? I know you got the music in ya ; > }

    Soulutions equipment uses the Critical Mass footers so they can't be all that bad. You seem to like a tilted up treble, so not surprised they were not a good match on your gear.

  • @willconnor7621
    @willconnor7621 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Jay, would you share how long you spent with the critical mass footers in place? They are notorious for sounding bad during the break in process which can be 1 to 2 weeks usually. So, if you were listening and judging too early in the break in process you might not be getting an accurate representation of what they do.
