Another great episode thanks Dominic, it was refreshing to hear biblical clarity and godly wisdom from Archbishop Raffel. The centrality of the cross and comments about individuality were a blessing to hear. God has clearly guided the synod to appoint the right man for a time such as this, may he and his family be richly blessed.
Dear Archbishop Kanishka Raffel, I'm happy that you are the Archbishop of Sidney Anglican Church. I'm a Catholic born in Vavuniya, Sri Lanka. I now live in Sugar Land, Texas with my husband. In 2003, while my husband worked in England, I had the opportunity in doing research studies on Sri Lanka at Oxford University. During my research, I read many original writings mainly written by missionaries and rulers. To my surprise, I found out that Hinduism was a Christian religion at the time Vasco-da-Gama ( Vasco of the village Gama in Portugal) arrived at Calicut India in 1948. The Portuguese missionaries initially referred to the Hindu religion as old Christian religion. This religion was found in Burma and in other Asian countries. The Portuguese missionaries who worked in Pagan city in Burma called the religion Pagan religion. In the sixteenth century, the old Christian religion (which was Hinduism) came to be referred as Pagan religion and the followers were referred to as Pagans.Buddhism which stemmed out of the old Christian religion adopted Buddha's teaching. The Dutch who took over countries from the Portuguese abolished Roman Christian religion and Buddhism. They introduced Dutch Reformed religion. The British who took over from the Dutch gave freedom to religious practices. The words Hinduism, Buddhism and Catholicism are found in the original writings of the British rule in India and Sri Lanka. I published a book, " The Gentiles, A History of Sri Lanka 1498 - 1833." I have quoted original writings and pictures drawn since 1498.
The Anglican marriage vows in the 1960s declared that the husband promised to "love, honour and cherish" while the bride vowed to love honour and OBEY". The denomination was founded by the notorious wife-murderer the British King Henry VIII who made himself the head of the church.
Dear Golden Ant, What is your point? Those are the wedding service promises from the 1662 prayer book, which in turn are based on Ephesians 5:23-31. Here's a link to a sermon on that passage that I gave last year that might be a help to you... vimeo.com/648383166 Warmly, Dominic

Thanks Brett. - Dominic.
Excellent! The thoughts on individualism and a changing culture, is something we should all be thinking and praying about. A lay person.
