Animals from the dinosaur era that have basically not changed are crocodiles and alligators. There is even a reptile (which is technically not a lizard) call the tuatara that is still very much how it was ~200 million years ago... which means the tuatara lineage technically evolved _before_ dinosaurs did, which I think is pretty neat.

General instinctively thought they usually think of crocodile is an example of modern nimal with similar physical traits with prehistoric animal, while they aren't wrong, there still other candidates that can be listed.
I'm writing my list to show that with recent discoveries, more and more modern animal are actually quite similar looking to prehistoric animals of the past, and I want to shout out about the Horseshoe crab, usually neglected as prehistoric animal species.

there was a recent finding that the T-Rex which was recently thought to have feathers/fur was debunked in which they found fossilized skin of a T-Rex near it's flank and back of it's neck and it was indeed scaled like a crocodile/alligator meaning it couldn't possibly have fur or feathers.
(also in retrospect it wouldn't make sense why something so huge would have those features in an environment so hot)

37:00 so fun fact they actually knew the T. rex had great eye site back when both the books and movie were made… Michael Crichton even knew that dinosaurs had feathers in the books he explained the lack of feathers and the poor eyesight by the mix matched dna… I don’t know exactly why he did but I’m guessing it was to avoid continuity issues when future findings changed our understanding of how dinosaurs looked

So she had to be re-cast in the following movies. Thats why her voice sounds different.

The most famous example is mononychus. They originated in Asia and migrated to North America and Europe during the Late Cretaceous
