Thanks for your video I know it's old but you helped me out so much just bought a new fuel pump from eBay and my quad is running great. I wasn't getting fuel to the carb and was messing with the petcock and didn't understand any of it till I watched both of your videos! So thanks again for the great explanation on your vids!👍💯🔥😁

Thanks buddy, I'm gonna pull the carb off today and see what it looks like. I did replace all the jets and gasket when I was trying to get her running. When I had it apart the diaphragm looked pretty worn. I don't know if that could have something to do with it but I may just go ahead and replace it. (By the way I am no mechanic, just figuring it out as I go!)

The fule pump can be taken apart, I find usually what happens is dirt builds up in it, so you take it apart and clean it out put back together and it will work again!!

I think the pump is upside down, not sure tho but think it does

I believe your fuel lines are hooked up backwards it says on the pump what sides the in on my bike it’s the side close to the tank

Thanks for the comment, i never dreamed these fuel delivery videos would be that helpful for people but it seems like they have been. Good luck with your project!

Thanks for the videos, been dealing with a 95 King Quad. I rebuilt the carb and that solved some of my problems but I'm loosing vacuum somewhere. You wouldn't have a vacuum diagram for the carb would you? Thanks, Joe

    • @CumminsDriver
      @CumminsDriver  9 ปีที่แล้ว

+MrJAG1156 I don't unfortunately. They are great machines, but the fuel system can be troublesome if things aren't right. I wish I had a diagram because it seems several people could benefit from it but unfortunately I don't.

Top front and right front are vacuum, they can go to either the pitcock or the fuel pump don't matter. My problem is figuring out what fuel line goes from carb to pitcock, carb to pump and pitcock to pump

Great video. I have the same bike it helped me get her started. I thinks it's running rich and losing power from the carb sucking extra fuel from the prime vac line. When I block off the prime vac line it regains power and runs perfect but eventually runs out of fuel. Any ideas!?? Thanks!!

Thanks, Im glad the video was some help to you! Have you looked to see if the vacuum line ever has any gas in it when you pull it off? When the petcock goes bad, that can happen. Honestly, what it sounds kind of like to me, is that your float is set too high, which is allowing too much fuel to stay in the bowl, causing it to run rich. Then when you block the vacuum line, no fuel is getting to the carburetor and it is running off of the fuel in the bowl until it sucks it dry. That's what makes the most sense to me just thinking about it. Let me know what you figure out

Mine is an 88 quadrunner, it only has On, Off, and Reserve, how do you drain it if there is no Prime?

I have a 1997 king quad 4x4 300. When I first bought it it ran fine and now it will not. When I start it, it ideals fine and then when I give it gas it will do good for about 4 seconds and then it bogs down. I can cut it off and let it sit for about 5 minutes and start it again and it will run good for about 4 seconds and bog down again. I had the cauborator cleaned and new gaskets put on and it ran good for a day and started back doing it again. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Pit cock is vaccum operated from your carb then that allows your fuel to get to the pump. Then fuel pump is also vacuum operated supplying fuel to the carb. The problem is fuel delivery. I have fixed these and I am fixing one know as well. I have in the past just ordered the pit cock and fuel pump and it worked perfectly. Check all vaccum lines for cracks as well

I'd say your problem is gas in the oil. When the fuel petcock fails on these atvs, it gets gas into the oil via the vacuum line to the petcock. Basically that line is just used for vacuum but when the petcock(fuel valve) goes bad it allows the gas from the tank to run through that line which gets to the intake and then seeps down into the crankcase. The crankcase vents to the airbox. So when the oil/fuel mixture in the crankcase gets hot enough to vaporize, it vents the gas fumes to the airbox which makes the engine not have enough oxygen to run.so check your oil and if it's over full, that is your issue. Once you fix or replace the petcock and change the oil you should be good to go. Let me know if that fixes it, and good luck!

OK I'll try. mine ain't circle its kinda square has tube in an out I can post a video of what it does

    • @CumminsDriver

You could always take the airbox lid off and see if it doesn't die when you do that. It should get enough fresh air to keep running that way I would think.

It says no riders under 18 on the warning label so it doesn't concern you anyway...
