Excellent hire. That 2022-2023 offense was $$, without money players like Sam LaPorta, Jahmyr Gibbs, Jamo (and Montgomery & Zeitler). Jamaal Williams led the NFL in TDs, Brock Wright and the Lions TEs finished 2nd in TDs, and Goff got the Lions past .500 needing to score about 30 a night to win. The 2023 and 2024 offenses did not look as sharp and explosive as those units despite having far more explosive weapons. I think this was the right move.

Dan Campbell sure sounded like he wanted to be a bigger voice on offence, maybe he thinks he will have a synergy with Morton.

It's funny, just slightly over a year ago, the heavyweights were going through the all time wide receivers for the Lions. They didn't even know who Johnny Morton was. "Is that some guy from the 50s?"
That's when I realized I was just watching kids, and I knew more than they did.

This guy ran the ball 46% in 2017 with 8 games above 100 yards and 3 of those games were approaching or above 200 yards rushing. I think information from damn near 10 years ago is suspect but the numbers also don't really bear out.

The jets couldn't move the ball, they had nothing but shit on offense and detroit is loaded, especially so upfront. I doubt he's going to come to lions and not run the damn ball. Also dan campbell knows Morton and if you think campbell isn't the kind of leader that would have had an honest dialog of what he expects this offense look like then you're seriously underestimating dan Campbell's best quality 😂

Will he be a dropoff from Ben? Yes. But I am of the mindset that is about Jimmy's and Joe's more than X's and O's. People saying they want a pass rusher, or defense with the first round pick. To be honest, I think that is at a spot in the draft where a C would make more sense, to give us more depth in the middle where we need it. Hutch created a ton of pressure on 4 man rush. We should keep Z. Z's production dropped off because he was getting the Hutch treatment and getting doubled and chipped. I think opposite Hutch, we would see the kind of production he had for Cleveland in the first half of last season.

You’re quoting an article from 5 years ago! Dan Campbell is a HUGE advocate of the run. Do you all think that he is that stupid to bring in a coach that will derail their quest for a Super Bowl? You have such little faith in him to think he’ll just hire one of his boys over the greater good of the team? I knew people in this town were fickle but my God I can’t believe how many people have 2:07 turned on this guy already. Let’s not forget that Ben Johnson was a nobody and Dan Campbell saw something in him. You guys have such little faith in the players and the culture and EVERYTHING that has been built and you want to throw it all away? Good. Please find other teams to root for. Please find other hobbies to indulge in on fall Sundays. I trust Dan Campbell and Brad Holmes and am all in on the Lions next season. One Pride! Go Lions!!!

I love our run game as much as the next guy, but it looked to me like we needed the pass game to open up the run, most weeks. When you look at our offence, it’s obvious that the pass is going to be a large part of it. Maybe it’s a simple as DC is the “run minded” element, and likes a “pass minded” OC to complement. Also maybe having an OC that is content with position will be more effective than an OC with HC aspirations who is focused on padding his resume

The guy is a LEGEND!!!!! We could only be SO BLESSED if he decides that he's coming to the Lions. Have you read his bio and his lengthy credentials....This guy is off the charts! Here's a quote from Dan Campbell himself when he was with our team for that while in the beginning ...
"The biggest vote of confidence comes from Lions head coach Dan Campbell in October of 2023.
"John Morton, man, Johnny was - Johnny’s a superstar now and there’s a number of things that he did for us last year that are things that we’ve kept. And I really feel like that helped Tanner as well."
We're going to see soon enough when the Lions will make this official and how the offense will pan out under him. What we can say now is that this doesn't seem to be something that the Lions just did without thinking about it. Morton seems to be a part of why the Lions are the way they are today."
Also this guy has loads of talent and vision and his bio speaks for itself! Praying it's a done deal.... Dan and everybody is way ahead of the game and we needn't worry.

@@DemonEdge82 100 100 100 percent. im disappointed. in everything. Ben wasnt as committed as we thought. Aaron glenn was an idiot. lets be honest. he got hyped cuz guys like amik would shut down jefferson. that wasnt AG and schemes. now...we promoted from within on a poorly coached defense. and Dan took advice from his friend sean payton. so who knows. i hope...hope...this post doesnt age well ha ha

Key thing what was said Bo Nix can use his legs Goff can't, and that's the Lions downfall. Goff's the leader of the team and still make rookie mistakes. Should have gave OC to Fraley or Engstrand.

I get it, when you were terrible for decades and made two hall of famers retire early…you get overly excited about two winning seasons. lol lions fans are cocky after losing for decades then having 2 winning seasons…calm down get a couple more winning seasons under your belt

The irony of you calling Lions fans cocky AND telling them how to be fans!? A level of arrogance that only someone who lacks self awareness could obtain. Why are you worried about how Lions fans support their team? Does it really bother you so much where you feel the burning desire to hang out on Detroit sports talk TH-cam channels and leave shitty comments. Pretty pathetic actually.

This is all possible because of Ben Johnson and 0% player ability? Not sure if you’ve ever watched an nfl game by your comments
