Based on where you live, Derry city seems best. I'm a cork city fan and we get on well with their fans, but you're always welcome down to turners cross.
As a Waterford man, I of course would prefer to you opt for Waterford FC, however the distance would be mental for ya. We are owned by the same people that own Fleetwood Town, averaged about 1800 in this seasons First Division, so far we've sold a record number of season tickets of about 1k already. Maybe one day you'll get a chance to visit the little stadium down here, or vlog amongst the away support at some point over the new season.
Stick with Derry mate. They are your local and you’ll go to more games for that reason too. I’m from limerick… Treaty Utd are my local,I try to get to as many home games as i can,it’s not easy to travel away Friday nights. See you in the premier division soon!! 🤙
Difficult decision indeed. I was in a similar position, my first LOI match was Drogheda United v Waterford United about 1977, as I grew up in just outside Drogheda they were my team in my teens and early 20,s. However I moved up here to Dundalk in 1988 and while o didn't follow Dundalk I did go to Oriel on Thursdays and then United Park on Friday's. People have always asked me who do I follow and the answer is both of them in reality as a neutral. But where it gets really strange is, as my circle of friends and acquaintances has gotten larger I have developed a sense of support for the other league clubs as well, so it's fair to say I am just an LOI supporter now and throw my support behind all LOI in Europe. A sign of the times and with TV and online games when on a recent trip to Old Trafford for MU v MC I asked a friend who had his 8 year son with him who lives in Dundalk if he ever took him up to Oriel, the answer was yes but only when they play Shamrock Rovers, as he is a big Rovers fan. I think the days of just picking your local team and sticking to it are maybe coming to an end. Maybe your best choice is to follow them all as a neutral be welcome at every club and help promote the LOI from there.
I think to be honest you've answered your own question, has to be derry, financially, logically and foot in the door. Obviously some bridges to mend but I feel that can be overcome 💪
Sounds like youre already passionate about Derry bud , so I would follow Derry thats the most logical due to distance and being local. By following Derry youre contributing to supoorting the league as a whole.
Hi Niall. Going for Shamrock Rovers would be a bit too easy. Dundalk would be a good choice. Logistically for you is Derry, whose fans are brilliant. I'm sure the would forgive any past transgressions if you became one of their own. I myself am a regular at Cliftonville but travel down to Bohemians when I can. Bohs, while not great at the moment on the field have a certain je ne said quoi. I recommend them.
You're always more than welcome in block J Niall. Your wee man and wee woman couldn't see you support a team playing against the city. Looking forward to seeing you for a pint in the Oakgrove next season. PS Derry's new home top is class. #DCFC
Having watched the whole video now , because of where you live it has to be Derry City… if I was up the North I’d be going to see Derry in the LOI … I’m in London and follow Cliftonville and Bohs….but come the day there’s an all Ireland League…..choices choices eh…..
Because of your proximity I'd say Derry but for me personally after the Santa cup games in the past I'd say st pat's. The only Dublin club that made us feel welcome. As a result I like to see them do well
Ya I am a galway fan but lived in Dublin for 4 years. I used to go to a lot of Dublin games but always liked going to Pats as fans were very Friendly and staff and stewards would always chat to you and no airs or graces about them.
Derry City for me Niall. However, as a Coleraine fan if they played in the same league as us, it would be a different story altogether and would be viewed in the same way as Ballymena.
Av just done DNA thing found out the family is more or less Irish bar a wee bit of Scotland family comes from county Derry and county Antrim and Fermanagh av chosen Derry city for LoI but need a northern team other side is from ballintoy and dad's family are from Enniskillen so need help
It would appear to be Derry City in a landslide.🙃 I've always had a soft spot for Finn Harps, I know they're fallen on hard times at the bottom of the First Division but I can't be accused of jumping on ther bandwagon.
derry just for convenience, makes the most sense for you to be honest. if i had to give you any advice, it’s got to be treaty, no better fans and community (i’m biased😉) if you do me one favour, not cork. anyone but cork.
St Patrick's FC surporter.as a fan you won't beat an atmosphere in Richmond park.with the drummer to the flares and of course the fans.who sing there heart's out.i recommend going to a Dublin derby game.there always the best atmospheres around.🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I think you've got to go with Derry. They are the club most close to you and you've been there often. I know there was an issue after the Shamrock Rovers game but I think it was established or should be agreed that it's an issue at the Brandywell which needs ironed out. As for their new home shirt, I'm not so certain on how it looks but I've no doubt a possible away top or their merchandise will be decent. However, on the flip side, I'd stay as neutral as you can, go to games, enjoy the atmosphere, speak to the locals and build the channel through that kind of content rather than nail colours to the mast. Looking forward to the rest of your content.
I’m from Tyrone, and now I live in Yorkshire & I follow Derry City & I have a shirt. Support your local club Derry. Btw my local team here beat Sunderland 2-1 a couple a weeks ago , even though there already in relegation fight.
I am from County Derry but wouldn't have any interest in following Derry city as the club represents the city not my area. Also I have no family connection to the club. That is part of the reason why I lost interest in English soccer too. Also apparently southern fans sometimes taunt Derry city fans about the political situation which would sicken me.
I'm from Mayo and I follow my regional city which is Galway united. It makes sense and its only an hour up the road. You should go with Derry as you have more in common with them. Every club has unruly fans but you have to just ignore that element
Shelbourne is one of the biggest clubs in Ireland look at the players we had playing for us the likes of Wes hoolahan. First Irish club to be make it one set away from getting into the champions league!! Shelbourne has 13 league titles where bohs only has 11 so we are not just head of ucd in Dublin!! Shelbourne are in Europe this year where are bohs oh yeah they finished 6 !!
Traditionally the least supported club in Dublin. I know things have changed over the last few years but could not see them bringing 20, 000 too a cup final like Bohs and Pats did. You are also way behind Pats with league titles. Remember you have had 30 year start on St Pats as they only entered the league in 1950!!!

That’s where I am currently at. Just did this video to get the ball rolling again. Though I’d love a few LOI tops as well.
Maybe contact the supporter's club at each club, they might even sponsor the video expenses etc. in Dundalk it's the 1903 committee.

Galway United is the team to watch. We won the first Division championship by 22 points. Great stadium, and fab city to visit for away fans.
Galway will be very exciting Team to watch the bet Dundalk 4-0
