A new civilization is flourishing in the seas of an alternate steampunk world, but giant ocean monsters are attacking shipping vessels, harbors, humans and native marine life with increasing frequency. Ordinary marine predators such as sharks have begun to follow in the sea monsters' wake to scavenge what they could from the destruction caused. Frightened for their lives, the people issue bounties on the monsters' heads.

Holy cow, I can't believe you covered this game! I used to play it as a small little kid at the arcade and eventually beat it just with one token, years later I managed to get an emulated version and play it, still got it in me!
Congragulations, you found a part of the ocean full of ancient sea life. not only from the time of dinosaurs, but also prior (the cambrian right?). and you killed them all. nicely done.

For anyone who missed out on playing this at the arcades, it was AWESOME. The cabinet was like a mini theatre you stepped inside, and the guns were turrets you controlled with both hands, that vibrated as you shot the hell out of the fishes. They felt like miniguns. It was also ear bustingly loud lol!

Fun fact: if you listen closely to the bosses roars it is actually the roar from Predator 2 when the city hunter is healing its severed arm :)

My brother and I loved this game. We played it on a cruise ship we were on once on a family vacation to Copenhagen, and completed it. Haven't played it since, but we've never forgotten. I miss rail shooters so much.
Also, Scylla is pronounced "skylla". Scylla is the Latinized version of the original Greek Skylla, but both would've been pronounced with an sk, as the letter C represents the k sound in Latin, as there wasn't a K letter.

26:35 they're called Jaekelopterus. This game is pretty cool, not only is it an ocean game, not only does it have prehistoric creatures, but it also has mythical creatures and mythology references! I probably wouldn't get far, but this would be an amazing arcade game to play!
Edit: i kinda hope there is a sequel, as the ending and that there were 6 monsters instead of 7 implies. Although i guess maybe the iguana was the 7th, even though it was in the same sea as the kraken
It could be eurypterus or pterygotus too since they look small for jaekelopterus yet the mosasaurus look so small

I remember this being at a bowling alley turned laser tag place my friends and I frequented back in the day. I never played it but that custcene it played until you put the coins in always fascinated me
I just realized that the roar that the Naga is using is the same roa that the Predator used in the first movie.

I played this game once in an emulator, the Lion's Jellyfish part always glitched out, but once you finish it, it goes back to normal for the rest of the game
I recomend the *"House of The Dead"* arcade game too, it was so much fun to play.... specially with your friend via 2 Mouse

I remember the first time I played this game, I was a kid on holiday in Lanzarati, I found it in an arcade near the beach and I spent all my time and money playing it. I'd completely forgotten about it till now, thanks for the nostalgia trip Beaver 😁
I remember playing Time Crisis in the Rhode Island Mall a lot while growing up at least up until Aladdin's Castle (the arcade) closed. Of course now the mall itself is long gone but the memories were good with me and my grandmother. She's actually the one who introduced me to video games in the first place. Anyway, dishonestly looks really fun and thankfully I do know of one arcade in Florida that still has this game. I actually got to play in a couple of months ago, between that and one of the new Jurassic Park games. As for Steve Irwin, I don't think he would have been canceled. He had a controversial way of doing a lot of things but the message of wildlife conservation he had was pretty good and besides Jack Hanna, I don't think there was too many other programs that would have taught you a lot about nature itself and quite the same way. I do agree that he could have been a lot more hands off but was an excitable guy like that, it would be kind of hard for him to just sit behind the desk and explain something to a crowd. His wife and kids still have a show and while obviously it's a lot more tame than his own, blessings he had are still there and evolved pretty nicely.
Ooh, well this is an unexpected, but very appreciated treat of a video. Love watching playthroughs of these old rail shooters almost never saw any around here. Only one I could find often was the first Jurassic Park one. Would love to see more of them if you think you might give more a go!

I've only played this game once, but it was fun. Shame there aren't many arcade games like this around where I live. Even the Mini golf place an hour away hardly has any games left outside of the ticket ones.

5 things on why they can't bomb it
1 : some of the monsters are where the bombs can't reach charybdis is the best example
2 : some the bombs before the 1900s (where the ideas of steampunk are or something) are light and cannot sink
3 : it's overkill
4 : no one has thought of aircraft dropping bombs before the invention of planes
5 : my theory is that they research the dead body of the monster if they will bomb it the body of the monster will be charred so the research cannot be perfect

God i love the Oarfishes in this game, they look so cool. been my favorite fish since i was a little child. In Norway we have a sort of myth around them. In norwegian their name translates to "Herring-king" as it looks like a gigantic herring, and it is said that if a fisherman saw one washed ashore (as thats for the longest time the only way we could see them. dead on the shore" it signals that it will be a great year for herring fishing. So awesome

One thing I find interesting about this game's world is that science and myth are blended: Rahab created guardians that were just enlarged, aggressive sea creatures and humans mistook them for the things we describe in myth. So in a weird way, myths both fact and fiction if I'm being clear enough.
