No doubt!!! Those two are in my top ten of all-time. They just mailed it with one song after the other that had killer jam after killer jam. Funny I bought Nola and just threw it in my pile of CD’s for about a year. Then one day I said to myself every single band member is killer. I gotta seriously check it out! I was completely blown away! I played that Cd more than just about everything! Later I got 2 and same thing except I didn’t wait. Two of the greatest gems in my lifetime without question!

Yeah man I meet very few guitarists who are like me I'm obsessed with feeling the fretboard every day I can sit,play & realize I've been playing for 5-7 even 10 hours some days But I play so much I put other music on and run scales for hours that I can't even hear I've been doing it so long I don't need to hear step patterns or intervals anymore & it keeps my playing almost 100% improvisation Most guitarists would trip out not being able to hear themselves but it gives you a different perspective on fingering etc🤘
Kirk is one of the most down to earth guys I've ever had the pleasure to meet. He may be the absolute antithesis of most rock stars out there, and also a much better musician. Gotta give Pepper a shout on this statement too

I Love Kirk. I wish him well. I'm glad he's back in DOWN. I'm glad he's happy with CROWBAR. As DOWN fan though it hurts to hear that it looks as though DOWN is back to being a side project. DOWN toured for a decade straight from 2006-2015 and i caught a ton of shows. If they dont put out a record in 2020 this will be the longest break between albums of their career. Theyve only released 12 songs in the last 13 years. Great interview. Just a little bummed this legendary band, my favorite band is on an *extended* break.

He also has an enormous Type O Negative tattoo on his hand and has credited that band as a huge part of the style of music he is famous for, and I got so into listening I didn't ask about that either. They've been pretty heavily on tour, and are now going to be pretty heavily into a new Crowbar album, then doing the Down shows, so I imagine that isn't an active project right at this exact second, from the conversation we had. I love down, with last 2 albums I thought they were gonna do 4 lp's to complete the cycle . My meaning being the moons on the last 2 were I thought supposed to go from crescent to full ? Wish they could get back in the studio and finish the lp project. I know everyone has they're own projects going, but would like to see it come to full fruition. Miss hearing that southern thumping groove. Love the NOLA scene, fan-fucking-tastic.

pkj77 I wasn’t all that into the EP’s. I think they lacked true energy and I think the reason is all the guys were burnt out on Down and especially Windstein and Pepper.
The Void with Christina I think if they reunite at this point the classic Down II lineup it couldn’t be better. But I’ve always felt Down like Pantera was the sum of its original parts and yea others could come in and play the songs but NO ONE but the four original members and Rex Brown should ever be writing a note for Down. That sound can only come from those people.
I find it amusing that a whole generation of musicians cite Ace Frehley and his work as a source of inspiration and virtually no one has ever declared "I want to sound like Paul Stanley or Gene Simmons". 😂
Makes sense, Ace and Peter were the rockers of the band and Paul and Gene were the pop music loving loser bankers of the band. Deciding who you like is a no brainer when it comes to Kiss
I love all the NOLA bands and doom and sludge metal in general. Each member of Down calls it a side project. Love me or hate me I like Down more than all then bands it comes from, I do love all those bands but Down is just fuckin pure Nola sludge excellence.
