  • Some of you have said on the live stream that you have never seen an Ing bowl. Lets take a look at how these work. Theyre great for counting with the Ing rule set. Each bowl holds 180 stones in each bowl. When playing you know exactly how many stones are being played. The Masters tournament used to use Ing rules and this was very interesting to watch being counted.

Could I use this to assure compliance and accuracy with my diet of precisely 180 Mentos fruit chews per day?

Nice overview! It might be good to cover basic operation of those Ing timers as well.

I guess this is so the stones are protected from damage when being moved and it is easier to see if the bowl has enough stones? Seems a bit weird to me as well.

What boards are being used? Where can one buy? oh, and do they warp?
And also, what stones are being used too, since I'm at it

Do you need to organize the stones when putting them back in? Seems like filling it might be a hassle.

Marimokkori nah, you just shake 'em around and they mostly self fill. occasionally two get stuck sideways.

I think you need to take some time and go to woodprix website to learn how to make it.

I see how it works, but why is this useful? Seems a little over engineered :p

TakanashiYuuji The design facilitates a special counting method called ING counting to quickly assess the score.

TakanashiYuuji If you know you have 180 stones exactly, then at the end, you try to fill all your territory with stones. If you don't have enough stones, you must have over half of the board (361 points), so you win :) If you have stones left over, you didn't, so you lose :( Easy!
