You should really make the effort to get there. I'm a Southerner so my opinion is based on my own experience rather than local bias. My wife and I have had a few nice holidays there and I feel certain you will enjoy a visit.
The Earth, Moon and Sun are all currently aligned along the ecliptic, which will give bring particularly high and low spring tides for a few years, I think.
I did the Lyke Wake Walk mid 1980's in 15.75hrs and missed the pub in Ravenscar by 15mins(they used to close at 2pm in those days and re-open at 7pm,on Sundays)
I've done it 3 times, twice for MacMillan cancer charity. Hence the You Tube name "Lykewakewitch"...loved it. I did it with Brian Smailes who sadly has passed now and Gerry Orchard the secretary of the club. Amazing memories. Lost 2 big toenails and shuffled instead of walked for a couple of days but here to tell the tale 🤣🤣

It was a very high tide. I was in Mablethorpe, Monday, and I had never seen it as high. A local also told me he'd never seen it so high in all the time he'd been living there. I think he said 24 years.
We saw it a number of years ago, almost onto that level bit. I seem to remember not long after Wetherspoons opened it was flooded, along with properties in first street back(where Boots is). Hopefully no damage done on this occasion 🤞
Yes I remember it came right down the main road to the roundabout near the bus station and a lot of shops were flooded, including Wetherspoons. Not as drastic this year, but you can never be too comfortable where the see is concerned 🥰
My mother lived in Pickering, so we were just down the road. Managed to find the coffee shack open on the Khyber Pass during covid. Made Whitby feel liked it hadn’t totally deserted us during those bleak times
Its not that deep, it only comes half-way up that duck.

Children's crabbing area covered with water 💧 👌 spent many days there teaching my son crabbing and fishing over the years , we loved it ,

To be fair that's just a high Spring Tide... Happens a number of times a year, for thousands of years since the moon started rotating round the Earth.
It does, its just nice to be here to capture and share it with others 😊

It's due to the spring tide, it does go down quickly.
