      We had a few in the war the late Churchills worked well, Cromwell and Comet were great and though Sherman is obviously US we can take credit for Firefly. Even Matilda had it's moments (though was obviously pretty flawed). While we started really badly too much is made of ours being awful and the Germans were perfect.

    I'm sorry but that comander was either lying or doesn't know much about other MBTs because the Challenger 2 isn't the best MBT in the world. The Challneger 2 is one of the slowest modern MBTs, it's armor protection is worst than that of both the M1A2 Abrams and Leopard 2a7. As far as firepower, it still uses piece ammo which has a several disadvantages.

    • @circlefired758
      @circlefired758 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are very wrong about the armour, its probably the best protected in the world only the Abrams is its equal in terms of protection. But i agree the gun is now in certain areas a disadvantage to the upgrade smoothbore Leopard, its something to do with the ammo we use its different than most of the allied powers, it does hold the longest confirmed kill record.

    • @kenwheeler6150
      @kenwheeler6150 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      MississippiRebel. I don't know where your facts come from but I was under the impression that Challenger 2 uses Gen 2 Dorchester armour, the Abrams uses the old Gen 1 Burlington, Both a development of Chobham Armour. As for the gun, Challenger has the rifled barrel which does limit the types of ammo it can use, but it can be useful at longer ranges, and we do like our sabot rounds but keep the HESH rounds for softer vehicles and buildings. As for power, I thought the Challengers diesel engine delivered about the same battle field performance as the Abrams turbine unit. but with better range. I am not trying to prove that Challenger 2 is better than the M1A2 just not as useless as you seem to believe. And we have a BV for a nice cuppa with breakfast.

    American-made documentaries always trying to sensationalize the mundane. Hey, they're restoring old tanks. That's interesting enough IMO. No need to try to find some angle to hype. The irritating re-epilogation of the narrative designed for viewers who joined the show after a commercial break is infuriating. And why the re-showing of a computer animation of a centurion in a modern urban environment? Absurd. These restoration projects take years and they want to do a tank restoration "documentary" with several days of on-the-job footage with some poorly selected archival footage and CG animation. What a joke.

      Ow relay 553 Abrams tanks have been taken out in combat just in the gulf vs 2 challenger 2 tanks ever and one of them was a blue on blue event involving a challenger shooting another challenger >.< dam one Challenger 2 operating near Basra survived being hit by 70 RPGs and kept on going

    • @USA--1776
      @USA--1776 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Challenger 2 is garbage and it's the Abrams that was taken out by friendly fire. Not one was taken out by an enemy tank. Bro Abrams took out over 3300 of Iraq's tanks 700,000 U.S. troops were involved. The rest of the world was hiding behind us as usual.

      Important information. The Centurion was still vulnerable to what the russians had from the front. Especially the IS-2 and 3s which could easily punch through and the 3 could even bounce the shells that the Centurion primarily used. Idk why the documentary says that the Russians were stunned when the British and other Allies were the ones stunned by the IS-3s.

    • @aaronp573
      @aaronp573 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kommandant Killcode I believe that the term “communists” was used to refer to the communist Chinese that they were fighting in Korea, who really didn’t have any armoured vehicles to speak of, or at least none that could match the centurions on range and firepower. That is the reason I believe they might have been “stunned”.

    • @kommandantkillcode
      @kommandantkillcode 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Aaron Podmore Oh, I understand. It’s just suprising that they were “shocked” when the T-34-85 which the Chinese and Koreans had could penetrate the frontal armor of the Centurion up until the Mk 5. But at that point the T-54 and other mediums were starting to be introduced into Asia.

    why do the british drive on the wrong side of the road? even the countries they have invaded and took over have to drive on the wrong side. even the motorcycles they build have the shifter and brake pedal reversed, do they want everyone else to crash and burn?

    • @Dragonblaster1
      @Dragonblaster1 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Because, like the US, Britain started using cars when they first arrived. The choice of driving side was the toss of a coin on both sides of the Atlantic. It wasn't the perverse British choosing to wreck the brilliant American choice of driving side.

      Ever wondered why aircraft carriers have islands on the starboard/right side? Because experience showed we pull to the left if in trouble. Fine if you are driving on the correct - Left - side of the road. You move to the verge. If you are dopey enough to drive on the right, you pull into oncoming traffic.

    • @prd9763
      @prd9763 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      We drive on the correct side of the road. Every country that doesn't drive on our side of the road have so many crashes because they can't see other vehicles properly, just look at Russia!
