  • Careful batteries can explode or go on fire. Here I show you how to open Vax ONEPWR Blade 4 CLSV-B4KS 4.0ah battery pack and the type of batteries inside. Be careful as batteries can go on fire. Honestly this battery lasted about 20 re-charges before going dead. Even though we followed the instruction on re-charging to the letter. They won't replace it. New battery pack £80!! Worked fine at the start but the cleaning ability faded. We cleaned the filters. In fact in the end I took the thing apart to clean so it was like new. Still you would push dirt around the wooden floor rather than sucking it up. I think the batttery was gradually dying.I bought a £65 corded vacuum cleaner. Less than the battery cost. Much better suction and you don't have to carry it like the Vax. And don't worry about the battery going flat half way through cleaning. Most likely it cost about £3 per use. Like a subscription to Vax. So I've stopped my subscription.

Great Video! My battery failed on me showing no lights within the first year of owning it after leaving it on the battery on the charger for multiple weeks. Opened it up nice and easy with the info from your video, and was able to determine the battery's pinout from the PCB.
The battery's drained far to low I guess from sitting on the charger for an extended period of time so I was able to direct connect another 20v battery I had to get it to a level where the charger would accept it again.
Hoover's support is useless, and trying to get a hold of them is even worse.

I had the same problem just out of the 1 year warranty. I politely contacted VAX with some pics. They were fantastic. I was sent out a free replacement within a week. Not did I get hassle trying to prove anything. That said I was wondering how you got into the battery pack. I want to use the batteries (well what works).

I hope this helps...yes I had the same issue with the Hoover onepwr 4.0 battery and what I did was pulled all the batteries out re soldered in all new cells and it works great.it was around $30.00 us dollars to buy all new Samsung cells.

Here is Canada Hoover is the brand name for the ONEPWR vacuums. Many are having the same problems with these batteries. They only last between 6-12 months. I emailed Hoover multiple times and they just don't response. The vacuum has a 3 year warranty, same with the batteries. I eventually managed to start a chat on their site and was able to get them to send a replacement under warranty.

I wonder if these are set up to go bad after so many charges. Both my battery packs are not charging. Flashing red light on the charger. One is completely dead after checking all cells with a voltmeter. The other one shows the cells being fine but led error lights 1 and 3 are on. If the one that has good cells inside can't charge then it's the circuit inside the pack that is bad. So changing the cells won't do a thing to help. They want you to buy a new pack every year. And you can't fix the old battery packs that have error codes 1 and 3.

Did you manage to get the pack to work after replacing the defective cell? I replaced a cell in one of my packs and then made sure all the cells were balanced, but the pack still shows as being defective so I think Vax might have something built into the BMS that needs resetting before it can work again, pretty frustrating.

Apply 18v directly to the positive and negative to the cells whilst removing and replacing the cells keeps the bms live without resetting it

  • @lancman5630
    @lancman5630 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Vax clearly have an ongoing issue with their batteries. Mine just went belly-up after 7 months and probably no more that 20 or so charges. This seems to be a common pattern. Not sure if it's a BMS problem or a quality control issue at Samsung. I found one cell in my pack had dropped to 3.2v whilst the others were at 3.7. I recharged the low cell to 3.7 but the pack still refuses to charge.
As for Vax telling me they don't want it back and to just dispose of it, what a terrible waste! There are at least 4 perfectly good cells in there just being thrown away. I think manufacturers should be made to recycle these packs themselves. I'm another one who will be going back to mains power when the replacement battery gives up the ghost - probably in another 7 months time.

DO NOT drill out the "pin".... There is NO pin.. It's a set up. Just use the T10H to unscrew the 4 screws and pull the upper and lower halves apart. If you try and drill the pin out, you'll hit the battery and it will explode.

Same here. Had the machine exactly one year and both batteries show up as being defective on the same day!
Still under warranty so Vax has replaced them, but am concerned about the future of my Blade 4.
Seen some videos about jump starting your defective battery with a new fully charged one.
But these Vax ones have the gripping connectors on the charger, not the battery like most do.
Using crocodile clips may work after you figure out which is the + and which is the - terminals
But there is a chance you can damage your new battery using this method.

@@bigo93 I have a pack which failed in exactly the same way, Vax just sent out a replacement pack without question - makes me think they know full well the design of these is defective but don't want to admit it. • @holydohnut

Had the exact same issue (lights 1 and 3) and Vax sent a replacement out with no problems and told me to "dispose" of the faulty one. Instead, I've opened it using this guide and using a multimeter, determined that one of the 5 cells is faulty. (its only reading 0.8v compared to the 3.5v of all the others.) Hopefully replacing that will give me a nice £80 battery for next to nothing!

The battery is probably the main failure for cordless cleaners. They have now become part of the consumable model like razor blades and ink cartridges. One of my VAX glide batteries doesn't charge anymore and it looks like one of the cells have started to go bad. I'm going to discharge, isolate and run capacity tests on them. The PCB may have also 'tripped' so changing the bad 21700 may require replacing the PCB as well. I am about to buy a PCB from ali express and keep either as as a backup or form a new battery pack.

None of the Vax 4 qualities matter when the battery stops working and it’s only over a year old so the warranty doesn’t cover a replacement one.Customer service were casual about the fact that the battery had gone and £70 was acceptable for the new one.I might as well bought a proper mains Hoover instead of this cheap Chinese toy.
    Its a Con
