Fascinating to see the two poles of reaction in this comment section. To anyone who understands abstract art there is clearly a great deal of talent here displayed. To those who don't see it, don't get mad. Just keep looking.
Wanting to see more of your work, Antonia. I am the grandaughter of Sicilian immigrants to Canada. After having 2 children and working in offices, I went to college to receive a diploma in fashion design. One thing after another and I started painting, traditionally at first and intrinsically into abstract expressionism. I am so happy to hear of your well-deserved success.
Bloody brilliant. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to and watching Antonia. I did my BA Visual Art 40yrs ago at City Art Institute in Sydney and it's only now that I feel excitement about art. Couldn't stand the big wank of the art scene back then. Can't wait to build a shed/studio in the bush and get into it. I hope I can paint as freely as Antonia does, it's a joy.
i did my BA majoring in printmaking at latrobe in Bendigo about 30 years ago and i too was disillusioned by the big wank art world and ive made the decision i want to be a successful artist at age 50 (its the first time in my life i MADE the decision, i realised - always creating but as a mum of 4 i have been creating sculptural tress as my bread and butter for many years) lets creat and go with flow and be in creative bliss i really suffering foe many years when i was producing new pieces that stretch my boundaries and lead me into the unknown
Hi Antonia, I don’t know if you read these or not, my name is Eileen and I just started painting in my late 60s. I am so attracted to your work. I aspire to be able to paint like you. Do you ever give workshops anywhere? Thank you for replying if you see this.
I would like to share a premise that is all too easy to misunderstand, but I'll give it a shot. In the Philosophy of Aesthetics and the Philosophy of Art "authenticity" is not a necessary condition in order to arrive at an aesthetically successful work of art. At the same time, no particular genre is the only authentic way to pursue making art. Therefore, let's assume a particular artist believes they are trying to be authentic as is possible. Considering what it means to be authentic, during an entire lifetime as a full-time working artist, THAT is quite the task. That being said, anyone who trashes any art form is saying more about themselves than they could ever say about an entire art form. Art forms exist one work at a time, one artist at a time. Criticize the artist if you like, but be cautious of your personal opinions when it comes to an entire genre.
She's probably looked a lot at the Cy Twombly paintings in the Art Gallery of New South Wales in Sydney. They have the boat shapes that she is doing in this video.
If you make a crappy and unimportant painting and create a complicated story about your views of paintings and art and your own life, and the process of making your paintings, then you can call your self an artist and gain recognition.
lol but true...most of today's mega sellers of art produce really crappy art, but created a really complex story that no one can deny as it is not their story...love your analysis...as a selling artist but never famous, I adamantly concur‼️Is 't this artist a prime example⁉️🤢🤮
Sounds like you have a very rigid way of seeing process and that can make output rigid. I saw great mark making and setting up problems then strong resolution of them. Powerful work Antonia!

I loved what I saw in this video, wonderful! Very interesting to hear you talk, your thoughts. Four children and study, not easy! Amazing art Antonia!

Dégénérescence art
Ephemeral Slaps to the heart!!!! Beautiful pieces. Love abstraction. F! Classical
Yes. It is difficult to portray that image through the device of illusion. All I know; is, try some things. When you do not know.🧑🎨
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
What’s the music in the end called ?
That big book of Christopher WOOL certainly influenced her… 👍😊
It’s like trying to explain rock n roll to a deaf person.
❤ 🎨🖼️👩🎨
Cy twombly type stuff..
Lucky is accurate....

I could do that. Baffle them with bullshit. My art is actually awesome.
Bullshit!

Who is to decide whats crappy and unimportant? I like her work.
Sounds like the person who put together the degenerate art show. 😂 "I don't like it so it's not art"
Wowww! Hateful 😢🙏 I'm sorry your hurting and want to hurt others. Much love and healing to you🩷🙏🩷
It’s a good point

I don't understand your art. I am sorry.
What? Not impressed
Hack
Not really impressed.
I find this type of process kind of lacking in technique.

Did you go to art school?
@@mabyonedayicanbehappy Oh yeah.
The work appears resolved and very beautiful, ''irresponsible" beginnings are working quite well for her, I think ! 😊☺️
