Your initial reaction to the Bicycles just goes to show how well-crafted they are. You were 100% sure that it was a $200 deck. And I like that analogy you gave. The Virtuoso deck is top-of-the-line, but you've always got Ol' Reliable Bicycles if you need them. I'm a sucker for the back design on the Virt deck, though.
I like the Bicycle cards. But they cost 20$ here. The 2$ decks here are sticky (great for building pyramids ) and break or peel after after a single card game session.
Tally Ho is a nice step up from Bicycle. They seem to last longer and faro better - much smoother edges. Nicer backs for flourishing too. As for Virtuoso decks - the more recent ones are of course much cheaper so keep an eye out for new releases every year or so. I believe they might also have a better stock than the original black & red one. As a novice, I find Virts decks more easy to flourish.
You need to look into Richard Turner he is completely blind and does the most mind blowing card tricks, shuffles etc... Netflix has a documentary on him now too.
“Oh yeah. These are obviously the Virts. Definitely. The smooth edges and the broken in deck. These feel sooo good.” *tries actual virts* “Oh... Hmmm...”
Just my opinion but, unless you're doing "Cardistry", it's best to do magic with cards people are familiar with. Bicycles are what laypeople buy probably 90% of the time, so they really don't question them. I understand if someone does question your $200 deck, then you can just hand them out for examination. But, honestly, who's going to do that ? Risking the cards being dropped or being returned sticky or wet ? Not likely. Point being, the expensive deck is probably the way to go for flourishes, etc. But the most practical cards are the common ones. Even this guy was fooled, because he has great card chops and could probably do "miracles" with even a Dollar Tree deck. He made the Bikes do what he wanted. So, the real difference is $198.
I see your point but i Love to do magic with different kinds of decks and I havnt had this problem really.its just cards. If you let them see and handle the cards and you are making them laugh they wont expect these stuff
As a poker player I've learned that a good deck of cards will prove itself over time. I've had decks that are useless after one night of poker but I've also had some that I've used for weeks. I think usage time is important here.
He’s saying usually in magic, there is a way to see either through the blindfold or peek under the blindfold for magic tricks. But he’s saying that in the video he really can’t see
I know science and im a nerd in school for science and here is a placebo affect for example medicine that isnt medicine can fool people and make them think that it is real medicine and that helps them
The $200 deck might have that value now, but it was produced as $15 deck so they didnt take too much fancier stuff in consideration to add when they made it, so the difference in quality will be minimal.
sure but have you used them before? Because I have bought the new FW17 Virtuoso deck and the difference between it and a regular Bicycle deck is there and it is worth the extra money.
Lol, when he thought the bicycles where the virts I cracked up so badly. This is a good video to show people who think "Every deck of cards that has a special design is better than the normal plain bicycles" ;) I still do buy decks that have nice designs though because they're good for flourishes and just being a collector item.
People have to realize that the deck wasn't always THIS expensive, lol. Pretty much all of the virtuoso decks are 14-15 dollars during the first few months. Just like anything else, once it becomes limited, it'll become more and more pricey because although there are magicians and cardists, there are also card collectors.
That's not really how that works. Plenty of limited things are cheaper than they were initially. Why? Nobody cares. Inflated values on limited editions only happens when the limited editions continue to be desired. Also, the clown in front of the camera needed to realize that instead of clickbaiting.
Would be very interesting to do this test again with several different cardists. And do the same tests after the decks have been used as well, to see if those expensive cards hold up better over time.
The big question is: Is the Virt Deck worth $198.00 more? My impression is that the answer's "NO!" Unless someone can prove an OBJECTIVE SIDE-BY-SIDE STAT COMPARISION, I'd stick with TALLY-HOs, which are 2x as good as Regular Bikes. They cost $1 more but are worth it. Save the $198.00 to buy a TON of more Magic stuff, or pay your rent, insurance, food, utilities, etc.
davejohnson tally ho is awesome. the reason the virts are expensive because of its rarity which makes it very collectible. some people would pay alot in order to complete their collection
davejohnson I really like the tally ho-s too but he said in the vid. The deck is like 12 bucks. Still a lot in comparison with the tally ho-s but it isn't too bad. The reason it's 200 bucks is because it is now a collectors item, a limited edition
Like he said, it all depends on what you need it for. I have never ran into a situation where I would need any deck of card that is worth more than $5. But if you're a professional magician working a sold out crowd where a screw-up could hurt your reputation and your dream, you might want to spend a little more. Not just playing cards, in almost all products, there are points where the prices jump exponentially just for a tiny increase in performance. Those products are meant for very small portions of the population that need it...or people with money to burn.
9:02 I'm not a magician or even a good card shuffler and I watched to the end. Thanks for the shout out. To be honest, I don't even know how I got here. lmao

I'm gonna get a setup once I start getting a little more income in very soon. I can feel the difference between regular Standard Bicycle cards and certain other decks, and the way I feel the difference is usually when I start a riffle shuffle how "bendy" the whole deck feels. For instance the Memento Mori's bend is alot softer on my right index finger, but doing the same thing to the Bike's gets a little bit too much pressure.
you say you would not pay for card at the price of 200 dollars, yet you probably spent like a million dollars with the deck collection that you have! And it has to be said, that is a very impressive collection, I have never seen anyone with so much cards, it's crazy!!
Dean Magic his collection is not worth millions for sure. He does have a lot of decks, but those are not really all expensive except maybe the virts and few other.. There are some collections that are far more expensive
Yeah Jaspas collection is far more impressive than Chris'. But there is also a Japanese magician called "Kitaro". That dude has like bricks of Jerry's, Dunes, shit load of Golden Nuggets, and loads of other expensive vintage decks. Just search on youtube "Kitaro card collection"
Actually when you order in bulk like an entire brick then the cost is about 120 AED but just buying one to two decks will cost 75 AED. I recently bought some.
3:35 It's so cool and soothing to watch cards get fanned and spread and cut like that. My bro-in-law is a magician and sadly he can't teach me these moves because even the smallest hand movements go against the code.
Old video, but I just started collecting primarily to get into cardistry. Love the art of the decks that I come across. So much talent and imagination that goes into these decks. Hard not to get lost in the $12 decks from Theory11 (which I love btw) versus $75+ decks. The collection begins!
I don't know what's so taboo about opening valueable/ rare stuff. It's like getting meal prepeard by some high class CHEF and then just stearing at it.
It's all about value. If it is unopened, the value is higher, because it is going to be brand new if it is eventually opened. It's like buying a car and the first thing you do is take the car keys and scratch the car paint. You just don't ... xD
@@BestAnimeFreak Hmm, bad analogy, it's more like washing a car and immediately driving it through muddy terrain to get to your destination. The point op makes is it still technically fulfilled its use, whereas as a collector item would simply have been stared at. Going back to the analogy, the man got to his destination by ruining the wash, albeit wasting 12 bucks on a car wash, whereas would have gotten nowhere had he just admired the 12 dollar work. However, what op fails to also understand is that some things are meant to be admired.
I'm not a magician and I watched to the end, no I was not bored, it was fascinating. A few days ago I decided to attempt to learn a few tricks, though I can barely even shuffle. I watched a few cardistry videos and wanted to try one, I remembered I saw a pack of cards during moving and I knew exactly where it was, and it's blue bicycle.
I hope someone will see this. Forget tuck cases and designs. Card quality wise what are the best for handling? Are all theory 11 decks just looks changing or are certain ones better quality cards than others?
I am so fckng happy youtube suggested one of your videos and now I am subbed and hooked. The info is great but production man... Props to you video editing skills, shots and cuts and all the jazz. amazeballs, thanks a bunch!
I am not a magician but I've always been amazed by the art. You are very inspiring and fun to watch. You have me wanting to get into cardistry so I might get one of these $2 decks to practice some of your simple stuff!
I brought a linen coated deck. Never knew. What they were. They were just cheap from the corner shop. They SUCK. I looked at shuffled online. And then this video. Then the other vids re the virtuoso cards and top ten cards. I brought: - 2 bicycle decks for training - the virtuoso winter deck - star wars deck - peaux doux silver The peaux doux were for fanning Star wars for the case and face cards Virtuoso for cardistry Bicycle decks for training Hands down the best are the virtuoso as they are so so thin but surprisingly my favourite are the bicycle. They are so so good I was shocked. They came last but are super cheap and high quality. Right out of the deck they do everything you need to. The virtuoso are the best. But bicycle my go to
You know you've spent a lot of time working on your computer when you unconciouslly say to yourself "he should make a back-up of that deck before opening it..."
I loved this video! You are fun to watch because you're are a natural at being in front of the "camera." You appear fun, intelligent, uplifting, entertaining, and good-looking. The setup is a perfect, clean, simple background. You speak clearly, and at a good speed.😊 lol, that sounds like I'm a TH-cam video judge or something 🤣. I'm not. I just really really appreciate a dam good I well done formative video! Oh, and I am an amature card collector who mostly plays Klondike and the variations.
@@squideronipepperoni not really. The cards are only worth $200 to the person that paid $200 for them. To the rest of the world they are still only worth $12.
@@MrJ-ro1yr Right, but thats how economics and money work. Things only have a monetary value which are arbitrarily given to them that people are willing to pay. That's the entire concept of money.

What is a nice deck to work with? It could be because the looks of them, or how smooth they are. I'd love to hear your reasons. I'm not looking for expensive. I'm mostly wondering if using new $2 cards more often, is better than using a more expensive deck for longer.
They're both made by USPCC in the same factory, what were you expecting. Bikes are usually more expensive than 2$ as well. You can buy a pack of virts for less than 16$.
I just watched this video shortly after your comparison of LV $800 deck so the "I personally would never pay $200 for a deck of cards" statement didn't age well lmao

I don't know what's so taboo about opening valueable/ rare stuff. It's like getting meal prepeard by some high class CHEF and then just stearing at it.
5uperM well, he could have sould it later, for an even higher price, bit now its open
and then what? have somebody else just stare at it?
The $2 deck that happens to be the one on my shelf 🏃♂️
I'm not a magician and I watched to the end, no I was not bored, it was fascinating. A few days ago I decided to attempt to learn a few tricks, though I can barely even shuffle. I watched a few cardistry videos and wanted to try one, I remembered I saw a pack of cards during moving and I knew exactly where it was, and it's blue bicycle.
I hope someone will see this. Forget tuck cases and designs. Card quality wise what are the best for handling? Are all theory 11 decks just looks changing or are certain ones better quality cards than others?
The real magic here is that some people can sell a 12$ pack of cards for 200$.
Shut the front door up, a $2 dollar deck still gets the job done so why spend lots of cash or something on a different deck.
Because magic is an art and part of that art is the presentation
Wow them skills 😳
liar, you only have 26 subs!
Liar, he have 78 subs

"This is what gets you into clubs, VIP access you know what I mean"
Me: I WANT THEM NOW
I am not a magician but I've always been amazed by the art. You are very inspiring and fun to watch. You have me wanting to get into cardistry so I might get one of these $2 decks to practice some of your simple stuff!
Always best to mention that they’re 100% plastic cards or paper or plastic coated. That too makes a difference which 100% plastic are the best!
I brought a linen coated deck. Never knew. What they were. They were just cheap from the corner shop. They SUCK. I looked at shuffled online. And then this video. Then the other vids re the virtuoso cards and top ten cards. I brought:
- 2 bicycle decks for training
- the virtuoso winter deck
- star wars deck
- peaux doux silver
The peaux doux were for fanning
Star wars for the case and face cards
Virtuoso for cardistry
Bicycle decks for training
Hands down the best are the virtuoso as they are so so thin but surprisingly my favourite are the bicycle. They are so so good I was shocked. They came last but are super cheap and high quality. Right out of the deck they do everything you need to.
The virtuoso are the best. But bicycle my go to
Next 2$ 1000 degree knife vs 2000$ 1000 degree knife
Handy Keppy I don’t think that’s how it works…
I will do a blindfolded test on that to tell the difference
Handy Keppy what’s with the retarded dollar sign placement!???
+SonnyGTA what does it matter? lol
PlanetGaming One is right, one is wrong. That's the difference.
You know you've spent a lot of time working on your computer when you unconciouslly say to yourself "he should make a back-up of that deck before opening it..."
"They're just playing cards." I think you upset 1,947 people with that comment. LOL
:-P
I loved this video! You are fun to watch because you're are a natural at being in front of the "camera." You appear fun, intelligent, uplifting, entertaining, and good-looking. The setup is a perfect, clean, simple background. You speak clearly, and at a good speed.😊 lol, that sounds like I'm a TH-cam video judge or something 🤣.
I'm not. I just really really appreciate a dam good I well done formative video!
Oh, and I am an amature card collector who mostly plays Klondike and the variations.
ALTERNATE TITLE THINKING MY PHONES SCREEN WAS CRACKED THANKS CHRIS!
This man convinced me to get a pack of bicycle
7:44 Whoa. Double fan-bow. All the way. Oh my God!
Just because someone will pay $200 for a deck of cards that initially sold for $12 doesn't make them a $200 deck of cards.
Yes.. that's exactly how that works actually.
Haha with the blind fold he was all psyched about the bicycle deck and doing all these tricks thinking they are the more expensive deck but than at the end with he blind fold off its "bicycle deck is oookaay? Its ookaay." Haha
Was there a camera cut at 5:04 (not that it matters big fan )

For the love of god put your $ at the beginning of your number where it belongs.
Joseph Couturier n o
Dude I just found you on TH-cam and I hope you are genuinely the guy you seem to be here.
What is a nice deck to work with? It could be because the looks of them, or how smooth they are. I'd love to hear your reasons. I'm not looking for expensive. I'm mostly wondering if using new $2 cards more often, is better than using a more expensive deck for longer.
Hah! Good on you, we live in such a fake world, most people would not post themselves being wrong about something!
They're both made by USPCC in the same factory, what were you expecting.
Bikes are usually more expensive than 2$ as well.
You can buy a pack of virts for less than 16$.
